Central Florida Prediction Thread
Time to get our predictions on the record as Texas heads to Orlando to take on Central Florida.
I think the Knights are a much more formidable opponent than most realize, but I do think Texas has plenty of decisive advantages which should make this a game we handle with relative comfort. Can we cover the 18 point spread? I think that we can, in large part because I think Kyle Israel is poorly suited to capitalize on our primary weaknesses.
I like Texas to make a solid statement this week.
Texas 37
Central Florida 13

I just want TDs in the first half
A fast start by putting them away early would make me feel much better about the season.
Plus, they need to play some of the younger guys in a bad bad way.
The entire 2-3 deep at safety graduates and all four DBs will be gone after this season. Time for Mack and Akina to let younger guys on the field more.

Chiles takes a snap
Expect a fast start by McCoy. Look for UCF to try to make some big plays in the passing game early without success. Texas defense should be in the backfield all day long. 47-13, with John Chiles picking up the first score of his college career late in the game.
And yes, we hold our third straight opponent to 13 points.

Horns go up
by 3 scores by half time, so Chykie and Curtis Brown can get a substantial amount of snaps in the 2nd half. As well as Chiles.

blowout statement
I don't care how or who performs, but we need 60, not 30, minutes of solid, statement-making ball on both sides. Wishful thinking it may be, but we have the talent that should produce something like: 52-10

Mack has never had less then 50
... in one of his first three games, and I don't think 2007 will be the end of that streak.
56-10

Most complete game yet
Colt throws for 250 yards, 3 touchdowns, and NO INTERCEPTIONS in 3 quarters of work. JC goes over 100 for the 3rd week in a row with a TD. Chiles punches one in in the 4th quarter for good measure. Curtis Brown makes an interception on the last play of the game.
Horns roll 45-10

A tip of the hat
For the precision of your predictions. An interception on the last play of the game? And you even name the defender? Fantastic.
So here are my predictions:
On our second play from scrimmage we run a bubble scree to Quan. On the next to last play from half time a right tackle will get beat badly. During half time Lee Corso will say 3 things that make him look like a dumbass. Lou Holtz will try to convince us that Notre Dame can come back against Michigan in the 3rd quarter. During the 4th quarter ESPN will stop televising our game so they can do 4 consecutive puff pieces on John David's booty and the rest of USC.
Seriously though, I want a huge blowout by the 2nd quarter so I can start watching the other games. I am very interested in Florida - Tennessee.

Yeah
it sucks that there are like 4 other games in that time slot I'd like to watch. I can't bring myself to flip channels when Texas is on.

Maybe I'm Lou Holtz
but it always makes me nervous when I'm seeing blow-out picks across the board. When Longhorn Nation as a whole assumes an easy victory, the team tends to do the same.
I believe we win this game, but PB's pick is a bit more realistic to me. After seeing TCU last night, I'm wondering is UCF isn't in the same category.
Plus, I don't think we've completely solved all of our offensive and defensive problems in one week. This is a work in progress, and we're going to see the improvement of last week continued over the next two games.
Look for Kansas St. to be our first complete game.
Texas 35 UCF 16
Another slow start, and another strong finish. But doing it on the road in a banner-day atmosphere for UCF is improvement enough. One step at a time.

I see 2 TDs for JC
... and he keeps his fumble-free streak going.
I'd like to think we get 50, but we still have Rice for that. Plus, for Rice we'll have Shipley and Pittman back in. That means it could turn into a situational practice, keeping our offense on the field longer than normal. We get 41, UCF gets 13. I'm going to go ahead and pick us to give 13 points up to every team we face. Why the hell not?
