Rice at Texas Open Thread 2

Let's switch over here to avoid lag.

Things look great tonight. It's not that we're beating up on Rice. It's that we're putting the best players on the field.

Things look up. Way, way up.

on that first down play.  jesus killebrew sucks.

by ctex80 on Sep 22, 2007 8:39 PM CDT reply actions

they heard him

Looks like Mack made his point about that no long return issue...

by Texas Sized BS on Sep 22, 2007 8:39 PM CDT reply actions

Are they talking about the same Killebrew?

I'm confused.  Who is this "Killebrew" they speak of?

by DisplacedTexan on Sep 22, 2007 8:40 PM CDT reply actions

Can someone describe the 2nd half TD for me?

I ran to the store for a six pack at halftime and missed it.

It's day time

THat means Rice is driving.

by JohnsonUT on Sep 22, 2007 8:41 PM CDT reply actions

killebrew

how is it whenever they get someone to talk about them, they only talk about him being chef...? How about just being a better LB?

by Texas Sized BS on Sep 22, 2007 8:42 PM CDT reply actions

I see

Glad we're turning out fine chefs and doctors.  Nice work, Mack.  nice work.

by DisplacedTexan on Sep 22, 2007 8:43 PM CDT reply actions

brown interview

Is Mack afraid the player/doctors will steal his car while he's in surgery?

by RiceGuy on Sep 22, 2007 8:46 PM CDT reply actions

I know Mack plays conservatively with the lead..

But I'd like to see Chiles' arm.

Vondrell McGee

Looks awesome, too. Chiles-McGee need to be on the field in some capacity. Wow fun toys!

In 2010

can we just run the single wing?

by ctex80 on Sep 22, 2007 8:51 PM CDT reply actions

Yes!

And I'm not afraid to admit that!

I just thought it was the cheerleaders, but now that I think about it...

Wow score one for...

Second team. They looked great... a glimpse of the future?

Sure would like to see that arm

Put a good receiver in there for him. Get him some confidence on the throwing game.

by ahaley on Sep 22, 2007 8:54 PM CDT reply actions

agreed

he can run like hell, how about throwing it?

by Texas Sized BS on Sep 22, 2007 8:56 PM CDT up reply actions

McGee looks terrific

This isn't about Rice being lousy. He plants and accelerates like a shot out of a cannon. Woooo.

by Peter Bean on Sep 22, 2007 8:59 PM CDT reply actions

explosive

doesn't even begin to describe him...

by Texas Sized BS on Sep 22, 2007 9:01 PM CDT up reply actions

He's got good hands, too.

He got twisted around pretty bad a few plays back, and held on to the ball while another defender hit him.

Vince Young wins football games.

by chief on Sep 22, 2007 9:01 PM CDT up reply actions

He's a Fireplug

We've turned our greatest weakness into our new asset.

by ahaley on Sep 22, 2007 9:03 PM CDT up reply actions

That cut upfield sliced through three people

as he evaded another. He physically assessed the power point and accelerated through before they could react. Impressive intuitive runner. OU will see that. JC may burn you long, but this guy will chew you up for 5-15 all the time.

The Young Bulls

For their age, for the Vince impression and physical style. Too kewl for words.

by whills on Sep 22, 2007 9:08 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm writing a letter

petitioning GD to get Vondrell more touches.  Anyone want to sign at the bottom?

by ctex80 on Sep 22, 2007 9:01 PM CDT reply actions

quite the tandem

Pat White and Steve Slaton who?

No Kidding

That is quitw a thought... WVU with a wicked defense.

Maybe they're better

Than previously most thought.

All 11 on offense

True or redshirt freshman.

You, my friends, are seeing what a national championship can get you.

by JohnsonUT on Sep 22, 2007 9:07 PM CDT reply actions

The Young Bulls

I noted it above. They really have the vince attitude. They want to go somewhere down field right now.

by whills on Sep 22, 2007 9:10 PM CDT up reply actions

Nice

Our plan to keep hidden these explosive secret weapons until the Rice game worked perfectly!  I'm just waiting for Chiles to juggle knives while running the offense - you know, for a challenge - and McGee to start playing with both legs tied behind his head so his BLAZING speed is only pretty fast while he hops along on his ass instead to be fair to Rice.

These guys are studs.  Looking forward to seeing some of this during quality time against KSU (please Mack ... pretty please).

by kirk1005 on Sep 22, 2007 9:11 PM CDT reply actions

Same here

They switched to the game and I live in Colorado.  Big 12 country....

Well, okay, so we are slowly becoming California east though and it sucks...

by kirk1005 on Sep 22, 2007 9:18 PM CDT reply actions

I did

upgrade my cable today and will have all the FSN channels starting next weekend.  That will be nice.

by kirk1005 on Sep 22, 2007 9:19 PM CDT reply actions

yeah...the extra channels are nice....

in colorado...switched on me too, but i changed the channel and still got the texas game on that one.

i tuned down the satellite package to save money so im havin to watch TCU and SMU.

by lalonghorn on Sep 22, 2007 9:20 PM CDT reply actions

what bullshit..

who cares about washington and ucla. although i live in california so I guess i should have seen this coming

by mvplonghorns on Sep 22, 2007 9:23 PM CDT reply actions

I'd rather be watching Texas...

but at least we got to see what we've seen tonight. I'm much happier than I've been all season. Now it will all depend on what the coaches saw. Did they see what we did tonight - and will they make the changes/additions that are crying out to be made?

Enjoy the rest of the game, those of you who can still watch it!

by Texas Sized BS on Sep 22, 2007 9:26 PM CDT reply actions

I'm cut off too

Shrug.

It was a good night overall.

by bleed burnt orange on Sep 22, 2007 9:39 PM CDT reply actions

thanks, flo

Thanks for the link.  I bookmarked it as well.

Why does UT make it so difficult to listen to or even watch the game online?

by cheevyjames on Sep 22, 2007 9:44 PM CDT up reply actions

It appears

They are trying to license the games for paysites only. Most of the radio stations that carry it over the (free) airwaves don't broadcast the games on their online listen feature. I tried several last week and finally subscribed to yahoo! sports for $5/mo. I'll try WOAI next week to see if I can get it.

by horndude on Sep 22, 2007 9:55 PM CDT up reply actions

XM

if you're traveling (and have XM radio) you can catch the game there too. I had to use it last week during the UCF game when I was going from one house to another. Channels 240ish or something....it will be the channels labeled big xii....atleast thats where i found it.
