PB's Penal Code

I'm working on getting the open threads and TV Guide ready for today, but we've got to get an off topic matter out of the way first. I'd like to propose a new law for all my fellow single men out there. (I'm going to make it statutorial, of course, 'cause I'm in law school. Good practice and all.)

When a man encounters a woman he is so attracted to that he will, beyond any reasonable doubt, regret not asking her out if he fails to make any attempt to do so, he shall make every best effort to arrange a future encounter with this woman. Knowing, reckless, or negligent failure to do so shall be considered a violation of law.

I lived by this law last night, gentlemen, and could not be more glad that I did.

Nice work, but why the mens rea choices?

If you're following MPC convention, you don't need the mens rea enumeration; negligence is sufficient. Conversely, if you're not following MPC, does intentional or purposeful "failure to do so" constitute a violation?

You're not in an MPC state, I'm specifying the mental requirement here. I don't want anyone misinterpreting the law.

And yeah - purposeful/intentional is covered in the knowingly.

Under "Passing Situations" #5:

If a receiver who is airborne controls the ball and is either contacted or falls to the ground on his own, whether in-bounds or out-of-bounds, he must maintain control of the ball through his fall to be awarded a catch. If ball never touches ground, receiver can regain control as long as he remains inbounds.

That's supposed to tell us that Limas's catch against UCF was incomplete? Give me a break...

Unicyle diaries

Is this the 10 who walked by the other day while you were doing the unicycle diary entry with Orson? If so, some exploratory evidence is needed (to maintain the legal theme). I'm a long way from being single, but experience has taught me to do whatever you need to do.
