Longhorns lead for darrell Scott
he announced at the as game that UT was his leader
He also said he would not be visiting Florida.
This is terrific news and would be one the biggest gets if not the biggest in lacks tenure....
save for ricky and VY.

What and when...
What is the "as game," and when did this take place? In any event, thanks for the info.

If we get Scott
I will brighten up what will be a really really long off-season.... i hate it when football goes away, but ill be much happier if I am left to ponder how much ass our backfield is gonna kick with Scott in it.

This is just a thought..
that i'll hype up more if we get Scott.
But the kid has the ability to be a 3-4 year starter if he wins the job.
It'll give you some wet dreams from now until signing day.

it's a new era...
if he's as good as advertised, I doubt he's here 3-4 years.
But I'd sure like him even for a couple...

I read on hornfans (or here?)
Speculation that Colorado was basically out of the mix, and it was really between Texas and Florida.
Glad to hear Scott isn't even visiting the Gators. I wonder if it had anything to do with Meyer's attitude.

Probably had more to do with
Moody being there.

Not to be overly anal...
But Ricky was a holdover from Mackovic, not a Mack Brown recruit.

I don't think that's being overly anal
Because that means Darrell could potentially be the biggest out of state commit of the Mack Brown era. I wasn't following recruiting when Chris Simms committed, but I know he was one of the other big wins for Mack.

Simms?
You can't be serious. Chris Simms is one of the most loathsome recruits UT has ever had. That was not a "big win" for Mack.
And this Longhorn will never forget how Simms trashed UT at the NFL combine before he was drafted. Half of UT fans never liked Simms, and when he showed his true colors by trashing UT it's obvious he never liked UT, either.
Simms Sucks!

we know, we know, no one likes him
But after he signed with Texas, it was the single biggest out-of-state get in school history. He was a Jersey boy, Parade All-American and POY, and was splooging over Tennessee(?). Getting him was a coup unlike anything we'd ever seen here.

So I guess it goes to show you
sometimes getting what you want is not always the best thing to happen for you.

so you know...
Simms was considered to be he-uge at the time. He never lived up to his billing, true. However, if I remember correctly, the Horns landed both the offensive (Simms) and defensive (Redding) players of the year.
I know I'm not adding much to the conversation here, but I'm just trying to accentuate how badass Simms was considered to be. I do believe that he's the biggest out-of-state signee that the Horns have had.
Yes, BTBD, it was Tennessee. A friend of mine who was a legacy at Simms' high school said that all of his contacts were saying that he hated the thought of going to TN and really wanted to go to Austin. Major was the hold-up to coming to Austin. Wow, how interesting it all turned out to be, que no?
Fact is, RMH, we never know who will be the Akeem Olajuwon and who will be the Sam Bowie.

agreed...
anyone remember an all-everything recruit named Ryan Perrilloux (prob typo'ed but forget him anyway right?)
definitely there are times you have to thank the Lord for 'unanswered prayers'
The Simms get was important in that it showed Mack could come in at in less than a full recruiting season, go out and swipe away a prized recruit from another conference. Simms' performance aside that alone was very important in the transition of our program.

tre newton
was a really good high school RB in Southlake. I don't follow recruiting too much, but I had heard good things about him.
Obviously, Scott is a higher ranked recruit, but I'm just wondering why nobody has mentioned newton?

re: Newton
Scott is considered the bet running back prospect in the country while Newton is considered to be one of the top 5 or 6 running back prospects in Texas. Scott is bigger, stronger, faster, and more explosive than Newton. Newton is a good running back, but Scott seems to be a beast.

Newton
sucks. He's in way over his head if he wants to play tailback at UT.

Newton is on Campus already, Scott is still
waffling so let's give Tre a break at least. There's a reason UT gave him a scholarship, he obviously doesn't suck.

My thoughts exactly
If he's going to Texas on scholarship, he's damn good.

Between Colorado and Texas
My source is on of my fraternity brothers who is on the orangebloods staff, and he said that Texas is in a strong lead right now for Scott but his mom wants him to go to Colorado for family reasons.
