Major officially at UT
So it looks like it is official, Major Applewhite will be again joining our Texas Longhorns here in Austin.
Both the Tuscaloosa News and the Austin American Statesman are reporting the story, and there should be a press conference tomorrow at 10 am. Here's to a great 2008 to be a Longhorn! The Austin American Statesman is reporting as well that Major will hit the recruiting trail on Thursday.

so excited
I really wasn't sure if Major would ever want to come back, especially with all the success he's had. This makes me so excited because it seems like he's willing to stay here for a long time, continue to be mentored by Davis, and succeed him in a few years. Then, possibly become head coach one day. I never thought he would be back so soon.

Amen!
Mack indeed brings us a very pleasant late Christmas gift to his students & fans. Thank God who has answered our prayers Mack finally, is willing to do some coaching staff changes to his program. As I have said many times before, our program has more money and talents than any team in Big 12. There's no way we cannot do what stoop dog did to his school who had won won five Big 12 title in the last 6 years.
With Major comes back home, I'm just so excited that finally, we can kick aTm & ou ass and bring back our Texas pride in these rivarly games for this coming seasons.
Per http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com, Major also hired as asst. HC.
I can't wait to see Major will take over our team in a couple years. We will play Kansas State on 2010 and I can't wait for the pay back time.

I'm excited and everything...
but it seems like a lot of you guys are pronouncing that Mack is going to be leaving the school soon. What is the deal with that?

Don't remember details...
but that's been the consensus since his new contract extension. It goes for 3 years, or 5 years, or something, then it says that he gets a position in the athletic department when he retires from coaching. So the thoughts have been that he's going to go through the end of this contract and that will be all for coaching.
He's also a multi-millionaire who wants to retire and enjoy a leisurely life after retirement. People who know him don't think he's like Joepa or Bowden.
