Coach Knight Gets #900
Huge win for Texas Tech and for Coach Knight over #9 Texas A&M. Love it. Tech dominates Agros 68-53.
I am a huge fan of Coach Knight. I still argue that no college basketball coach does more with less. And tonight was just another example.
He just grabbed the microphone after the game and addressed the crowed. In typical Knight fashion, he both thanked the fans for their support tonight and admonished them for not showing up in greater numbers during previous games.
Classic.

That was laugh out loud funny
I wish Barnes would do something like that, but he never will. He knows we'll always be a football school.
As for the game, how many traveling violations were called on A&M? Unbelievable.
Tech played great on both sides of the court, but a big key was the Aggie big guys getting in foul trouble. Hopefully Barnes saw this game and realized that if we don't want Jordan, Davis, Jones, etc. to punish us down low, we need to get them in foul trouble.
A&M offense sucked to say the least. If we can play any defense at all, we can play with these guys because our offense is much more efficient than theirs.

the traveling violations were ridiculous
The refs called three in a row at one point.
The refs were hell-bent that Bobby was gonna get #900 in Lubbock that night.
It didn't help that we completely played like ass, and Turgeon was completely outclassed.
I don't know if we just thought Tech completely sucked, and we'd walk all over them, or what, but our guys came out flat and never seemed to get into the game.
a big key was the Aggie big guys getting in foul trouble
Actually, a big key was the refs calling a foul on us every time Tech went on offense, which effectively meant we weren't allowed to play defense.
If you want to stop A&M's big men, foul them. We can't shoot free throws.
Love the quote
Coach Knight is a great coach who is not afraid to speak his mind. Plus he runs one of the best offenses I have ever seen, if only he could still get players to come play for him.
