RIP ROOSTER
I was sad to learn of Rooster's death yesterday. I know the last year was one of suffering for Rooster and his family; I'm thankful for his release from that.
I grew up in the same neighborhood as Rooster and went to school with his children. Since Coach Royal and several future Longhorn football players lived in the same area, the place was chock full of kids playing street ball, wearing burnt orange. And...we always knew when it was gameday; the Andrews house would be decked out! Rooster knew everybody and was one of the most positive, optimistic men I ever met. When, years later, neighborhood kids returned for visits home, Rooster and BJ would always make a point to get an update on all our families. Rooster had his share of demons and suffering in his life, but he endured and was a good and faithful servant to the end. UT needs more like him!
Condolences to BJ, Griff, Betsy, Lisa and their families.
Rest well, Rooster... the Eyes of Texas are Upon You!

Everyone needs to read the article
As a young-ish Longhorn (22), I did not know much about Rooster. But after reading about him I can appreciate how important he was towards the creation of a Texas Longhorn "family" that all Orangebloods can now claim to be a part of.
We lost a great one yesterday.

What A Legend!
I admire him very much. He may be the shortest guy on the team when he was a kicker. But he didn't let his physical limitation to be an obstacle rather, he fought for the kicker position. It's kind of reminds me Sean Austin the movie "Rudy".
He helped the team to beat TCU 46-7, our most hated rivalry aTm 23-17 & ou 20-0. What more I can say. You can read more from this article.
What a Longhorns legend that we had just lost. I still remember, 4 or 5 years ago, I have a privilege to greet him for a few times when I was shopping on his stores.
When he was young, from being a Longhorns football team's waterboy to become a kicker. When he was old, owned a few sporting goods stores with luving family and 6 grandchildren. What a nice Longhorns' adventure everyone would dream of.
Bleeded as a Longhorns & die as a Longhorns. What a life of Texas Pride he has shown to everyone!
My thoughts & prayers are with his family.
Hook'em!
PS. In just a past few days, a couple famous peoples passed away. First is Mr. Andrews and now is that young actor Heath Ledger who I like his movie called "A Knights' Tale". Life is too short and fragile more than you can think of. So, grab hold of your family and tell them you love them while you can, my friend.

I met Rooster
Many times when I was a kid in his stores getting athletic equipment for football or baseball. He was always so nice. He will be greatly missed.
