Davis Gets a Raise
The beloved GD will be paid $425,000 next year, as was predicted by our resident cantankerous precog HC.
Regardless of your opinion of GD, I really don't see this as the best business decision. Is GD getting offers from other schools? Use that cash to hire another assistant for Ken Rucker so we don't repeat last off season.

Yeah, because
We all know Major can't be wrong as the guy in charge of play-calling. Give me a break. Don't get me wrong Wells, I'm as excited as anyone about the Major's promotion, but what exactly did he do as OC at Rice or Alabama to show he's ready to take the reigns and get better results. Like it or not, Davis is one of the best offensive minds in cfb, as evidenced by the many years UT has averaged near or above 500 yds/game under his command.
I still can't quite understand why such a vocal faction of Longhorn Nation has made GD the scapegoat for everything wrong with Texas.

I said nothing about about Major
or about the quality of GD as a coach.
I am just saying that he is not a risk to leave or be stolen by another school, so giving him a raise just because the D Coordinator is making that does not make much business sense.

GD is overpaid
but what exactly did he do as OC at Rice or Alabama to show he's ready to take the reigns and get better results.
.
Major's spread offense at Rice scored 45% more points than what was scored the prior season. With very little talent.
Nick Saban has stated publicly that the offense was 90% Dolphin's. What the heck did you expect Major to do when Saban dropped his playbook on Major's desk and told him to run it?

For those of you that are GD lovers, why doesn't GD have more programs coming in trying to lure him away?!?!? SMU...that doesn't even count.

hit the nail on the head
we just gave a $75,000 raise to keep a OC which no else in CFB wants anymore. why did we do this again? so he doesnt get his feelings hurt about a young, aggressive def coordinator is getting paid more than he is. you got to earn your shit.
