4-3 in the Mack Brown era
Wins over USC (Rose Bowl), Washington and ASU (Holiday Bowl) and Standford at home '99.
Losses to Oregon and Wash. St. (Holiday Bowl) and to Standord in Palo Alto in 00.
Like the movie, I'm sure Rudy C. also expected to be carried off the field at the end of the game by his fellow teammates...just not on a stretcher.
If you've been sacked more than any other QB in D-1, chances are good you probably shouldn't be talkin' smack.
4-4
you forgot the 18-point loss at UCLA in '98. but hey, at least we improved from that 63-point loss in '97 under Mackovic.
re
I might be wrong, but I believe that was the game where Walton broke his hand and we had to pull the redshirt off of Major. I just thought I would mention that to bring things full circle.
you didn't pull the redshirt off of Applewhite
he was a redshirt freshman that season
he redshirted in '97
All time 22-11-0.
ASU 1-0-0
Arizona 1-0-0
California 4-0-0
Oregon 4-1-0
Oregon St. 2-0-0
USC 1-4-0
Stanford 2-2-0
UCLA 2-2-0
Washington 3-1-0
Wash. St. 2-1-0
The only losing record is SC. Of course, we won the one that counted the most.
Not only that...
But I think that Texas has a winning record against every team we've played 5 or more times except for ND (2-8?) SC (1-4 as above) and Penn State (2-3, if memory serves).
Boom! Motherfucker!
Pretty true, except for fricking Vanderbilt.
We're 3-8. Instead of all these podunk teams we insist on scheduling, just do Vandy for six years or until we're ahead. And get SEC victories, too.
Nobody ever pays attention to bombing patterns, dammit.
And if you want to know something
seriously disturbing, our all time record versus Kansas State is 5-5. And CU is right behind at 9-7, a mere two-game bump.
In the next meeting, KSU can possibly become the only team in the Big 12 with an overall historic edge on the Horns.
We should be taking those mofos much more seriously than we have.
(I personally blame this on DeLoss, a '59 KSU grad, by working evil from within the system. I can hear him whispering "Don't worry about the Cats; new coach, no players; easy win. Concentrate on OU. Jump a bump in the schedule, my pretty.")
I love the way Herbstreit..
said that.
"Don't say anything that would want to make them DESTROY you like this Texas team."
I'm generally neutral when it comes to Herbie
But he could have let the chant go without saying anything, and the Texas players would have looked really bad. He won some everlasting points with me for speaking up for the Texas players the way he did.

You know you've got a good point
Herbstreit did a good job of explaning that didn't he? The point could not have been made any better than the defense did in the film. Maybe Herbie was speaking from experience as well? Either way his "defense" of the Texas players is noted and appreciated.
Ground Meat
I particularly like the final image; Rudy crumpled on the ground like a discarded hamburger wrapper.
Yeah, he was seriously mucked up.
Hope we see a lot more of that next year.
The only guy that got away with it was VY
Remember when VY was talkin' smack to 'SC. He probably wasn't talk smack like Rudy, but he was kind of jawin' at USC and saying that we are good too and that we got "gangstas" on the team. It was something like that. Don't quote me on it.

i called it 3 hours and 45 minutes before you did. still the king, baby!
meh, let the kiddo post
until he gets all aryan angry and shit.
i'd rather him post out in the open than him getting all this attention. he knows what he's doing, otherwise he wouldnt respond with the "?". He loves that attention from yall.
