High School All- Star Game Today

Does Texas have any guys playing in the game? Should be fun to watch, especially, if all the Oklahoma recruits some how get injured, "Not that I was injury on anybody"

Game is this afternoon on ESPN, I will be watching, and editing a video at the same time, not that any of you care, but I need 300 characters

Star-divide

Oh, and we should do a final grade on all of our players we adopted...OK I am done.

AAron Williams

AAron Williams will play CB. Do you guys know if he is recruited as a saftey or cornerback?

In Mack & Rick We Trust.

by Cyrus on Jan 5, 2008 11:40 AM CST up reply actions

He played corner...

during the game and was outshined by DJ Moroe

3 Horns already seeing action

Buckner with a nice reception
Tucker with a beautiful punt
DJ Monroe showing blazing speed to down the punt at the 3

Pryor

Somebody explain to me again why we didn't recruit this guy hard??  Good lord.

by SelimSivad on Jan 5, 2008 12:27 PM CST reply actions

he doesn't seem to have "it"

walk with me for a second
yeah we recruited the guy ... gave him a look ... but we have some of the best recruiters around
those that got away ... got away for various reasons ... but we usually got them here
and i'm looking at this guy
and i'm remembering something he said that he didn't want the vince young comparisons
and there's something about that statement that raises a red flag with me
did jamaal not want the ced benson comparison
did ced not want the ricky williams comparison
do kobe and lebron not want the jordan comparison
did jordan not want the dr. j comparison?
the answer is no ... simply no ... greatest wants to be compared to and surpass greatness
yes this guy has a chance to go wherever and be good
but there's something about that statement that makes me think he wont be GREAT
and there's something about that, that i'm seeing, and maybe the recruiters saw more as they got to know him
take that with a grain of salt ... because that's my 2 cents

by abcdmetrius on Jan 5, 2008 12:32 PM CST up reply actions

I think it was because of

Shepard and Gilbert.  Given that Pryor was initially interested in us, I find it a very risky decision.

by mikey 4 on Jan 5, 2008 12:33 PM CST up reply actions

Nolan Brewster!

He's the real deal...  Just ran down a blazing fast RB to save a touchdown. Hope he sticks to his commit rather than following his Daddy to Minnesota.

Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.

by patienthornsfan on Jan 5, 2008 12:27 PM CST reply actions

agreed, and

His dad got all the talk during the game, while his kid was all over the field. I don't see him coming to UT though.  Blood is very thick.

by anonyMoose on Jan 5, 2008 3:48 PM CST up reply actions

Oh, and DJ Monroe

almost picked it off as well

by mikey 4 on Jan 5, 2008 12:40 PM CST up reply actions

Nice adds to our D

Both of those guys are fast fast fast, and seem to have good hands. Couldn't be coming on board at a better time.

Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.

Monroe again!

Comes from outta nowhere and runs down that RB to save a TD.  Amazing speed.

Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.

And again

Taking down a TE almost a foot taller than him!

Jesus this guy looks impressive.

Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.

by patienthornsfan on Jan 5, 2008 1:01 PM CST up reply actions

HOLY SH*T!

Monroe recovers a fumble on a punt.  This guy doesn't quit.

by mikey 4 on Jan 5, 2008 1:07 PM CST up reply actions

He's my new favourite Horn

... and he's not even a Horn yet!

Love this guy. What a motor.

Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.

by patienthornsfan on Jan 5, 2008 1:08 PM CST up reply actions

I think he's

the second most impressive player of the game, after Pryor.  Am I right, or am I seeing things through burnt-orange glasses?

by mikey 4 on Jan 5, 2008 1:11 PM CST up reply actions

Brewster everywhere

Great sideline-to-sideline coverage

Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.

by patienthornsfan on Jan 5, 2008 1:19 PM CST up reply actions

TD Buckner!

Acrobatic catch too.

Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.

by patienthornsfan on Jan 5, 2008 12:44 PM CST reply actions

Can you say.....

the next Limas---> Dan Buckner. Great catch.

by TEXASFIGHT on Jan 5, 2008 12:46 PM CST reply actions

He was in the top 5 of the LSR 100

... before his Senior year, and dropped consistently. He was also a Rivals 5-star and dropped to 4, but I think we can see now his original ratings were the correct ones!

Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.

by patienthornsfan on Jan 5, 2008 12:48 PM CST reply actions

Yeah, I actually didn't expect much

given his plummet this year.  His performance today is just one more piece of evidence showing how jacked these ranking systems are.  He's looked incredible.

by mikey 4 on Jan 5, 2008 12:56 PM CST up reply actions

Finally an appearance by Aaron Williams

I thought he'd be the star on D, not DJ Monroe. Nice ankle tackle.

Life is an Occasion. Rise to it.

Darrell Scott

I only caught the 2nd half, and haven't seen much of Darrell Scott, how disappointing.

Also, does anyone know if any recruits are planning on graduating early and going through Spring training?

by sharkbait101 on Jan 5, 2008 3:54 PM CST reply actions

thanks...
to mikey and phf for the thread today.  I used to watch these games religiously, but I couldn't catch them today (and my HTPC is still dead).

somebody call BZ

we need his nose to scratch-n-sniff this one...and the other one about Finley.

by horndude on Jan 5, 2008 9:22 PM CST up reply actions

No need to

After I saw this, I knew:

You feelin' me nigga.

That's like his signature within the signature.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 5, 2008 10:00 PM CST up reply actions

How many logons is he using?

My guess is about 4 right now.  Over/Under?????

UA Game

Did anyone see the TD catch by DJ Grant?  Wow!  I'll say it again.  WOW!

by Hot Hands on Jan 6, 2008 8:10 AM CST reply actions

WOW! is right...

between what we saw from Grant and what we saw from Buckner, I'm pretty excited about our receivers the next few years.   And that's not even counting Hales and the guys already on campus...

Roy Miller - with the possible exception of Barbara Feldon, the best #99 anywhere!!!
