BCS Title Game Open Thread

Sitting around watching the game tonight? Join in here with game thoughts. I said last night that I thought this set up very nicely for LSU, but both Orson and SMQ see it differently. I will say that my confidence in the LSU offense makes me pause in picking them in this game, but I wonder even more about OSU's offense.

I guess we'll see. Here's to hoping the game is more entertaining than Fox's broadcast is sure to be lame.

56-17, LSU

I'm sticking by my original prediction.

I went with

27-21 Swampcats on my BowlMania entry, so I'll stick with that.

Fox is clueless when it comes to CFB

though it is interesting seeing Urban Meyer weigh in.

Who the hell was that singing the national anthem?

My adopted son Curtis Brown has the power of flight, but can't navigate his way onto the field.

by nematode on Jan 7, 2008 7:12 PM CST reply actions

At least

it doesn't appear that Petros Papadakis was invited.

That singer looks (and sings) a lot like David Beebe of El Orbits and Banana Blender Surprise in Houston.

by horndude on Jan 7, 2008 7:20 PM CST up reply actions

Thank God there is no Petros...

Go Buckeyes...I can't believe I just wrote that.

This was the scenario SMQ was calling for.

Yep, that Big 11

lack of speed is going to be a problem playing against the SEC.

this next series...

will really tell a lot.

Hey SC fan

Do you think there's any scenario where USC/Georgia gets any first place votes after this game?

Oh my

this could be a long night on the bayou...

LSU D

Overpursuing on nearly every play right now. Need to settle down a bit.

agreed

maybe just a little too worked up right now.

Notice they haven't shown Les Miles

I'll bet he looks cartoonish, with steam coming out of his ears.

by chief on Jan 7, 2008 7:46 PM CST reply actions

Game scenarios like this

with one team jumping out indicates good preparation, but if tOSU can't score big, then it becomes a heavy weight fight.

They'll settle down now.

running back stable

LSU having all those backs is impressive. Reminds me of our team when we had JC, Ramonce, and Selvin. Man, I'd be happy if we had ONE good back next year.

Anybody know what happened to Ramonce anyways?

by hornshoops on Jan 7, 2008 7:54 PM CST reply actions

No this time, chief.

Wiki backs you up as far as Ramonce not being picked up.

This falls under the "Crying shame" category. He really blew his future.

by whills on Jan 7, 2008 8:13 PM CST up reply actions

You're right about that.

They're not even close in most instances and aren't tacklin' worth beans.

by whills on Jan 7, 2008 8:24 PM CST up reply actions

true, but...

at least he's not in jail like Maurice Clarett. What could have been for both of them...

I just

found out that jermichael finley said he was going pro. when did he announce that?

by Hook'em13 on Jan 7, 2008 8:23 PM CST reply actions

LSU is showing good driving ability.

6-8 on third down, have slipped out of a lot of 2nd and 10.

Nice pass on third down. Wow.

You get the feeling

Ohio State needs points on this drive

with better pressure.

Tressel just gave a funny head shake - but right now LSU is hard to shake off.

College Commercials

Maybe I'm biased but after watching all of the college commercials this bowl season, I still think we have the best. Nothing beats, "What starts here, changes the world."

Thanks Charles.

And when you think about it

If LSU hadn't scored those 4 touchdowns, Ohio State would be winning.

by BON Addict on Jan 7, 2008 10:06 PM CST up reply actions

Could Texas in the Holiday Bowl

beat this LSU team in a hypothetical MNC?

After seeing Wells break one early in the game, I'd like to see what Charles could do.

I would just love to see our defense pound Perilloux the way they beat up Carpenter.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 7, 2008 10:08 PM CST reply actions

Jesus Christ

That OSU QB got absolutely FACE RAPED on that 4th down play.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 7, 2008 10:16 PM CST reply actions

What's worse? Broadcast or bad 1st half calls?

Those morons in the broadcast booth are so annoying and literally ignorant.  But some questionable personal foul calls in the first half really gave a momentum edge to LSU in my opinion.  I honestly believe the powers that be want a "feel good" win for Katrinaland.  I hope tOSU can pull this one out.  I have never liked LSU's attitude.

every once in a while

the pundits get it right. OSU just can't hang as predicted by most. I feel bad for the OSU kids who got their motivation from Sweater Vest's DVD with clips of all the ESPN guys saying they didn't deserve to be there...and then they went out an laid an egg.

Will the Big 10 ever wise up and realize that a six week break between games is a really bad idea? Will they ever add another team and get a championship game? Until then, they will remain a joke.

"This is the second most exciting indoor sport, and the other one shouldn't have spectators."

Even worse

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22543610/

BCS officials are considering a +1 system, yet the Big 10 and Big 12 commissioners are against it because they're worried about the fucking Rose Bowl attraction.

by goingforthecorner on Jan 7, 2008 10:45 PM CST up reply actions

Big 10 and Pac 10

are against it.

Big 12 is for it.

Forgettable National Champ
Out of all the BCS champs so far, this LSU team is by far the most forgettable. They had two losses and had only one dominating performance the whole year. Out of the 10 BCS champs they rank near the bottom of the pile. Talented team but they just were not focused enough to run the table. They are solid team but I thought USC or Georgia could beat team.

People need to stop hating on Ohio State. It wasn't because they were slower than LSU. Did you guys see that Beanie Wells' run? LSU was just more talented and more physical not faster.  Ohio State was just not good enough and physically talented enough. Their recievers could not get open.

The two players that stuck out for me were Chris "Beanie" Wells and Malcom Jenkins. I thought they were the best players on the field.

Congratulations to LSU for winning a truly mythical national championship.
