Whatever happened to Philip Payne?

PrintThis guy had a lot of hype coming in as a fast, physical receiver. This is his 3rd year on the team, and he hasn't recorded a single statistic in his career.
Does anyone know if he has been injured, bad attitude, or if there is some other issue here?
Secondary issue: Comment on some guys who were recruited in the last few years that you were excited about seeing, but never panned out.

Payne was injured
either August a year ago or early in the season. Believe he played in the Holiday Bowl and maybe 1-2 other games, briefly and late. He got into the Fla. Atlantic game this season, according to UT website. . . . Think he’s just a depth guy, kind of a third-teamer like fellow 2006 signee Montre Webber (who has played more and caught a pass against FAU).

Seems like the 5 Star recruit is behind several players not as HT. I personally thought we were looking at a Justin Blaylock type of starter.

Thought he’d be starting this year; he may No. 4 (behind the starters and Mitchell) at OT . . . other disappointments: Norton, Beasley, Gerland, Webber, McGaskey, Chiles. Some have played, but not well, some have basically disappeared.
i wouldnt say
that norton and beasley are dissappointments. thier both only juniors and still have time to excel. also, they both have played well when the time called for it. although, i dont like the fact that norton has gained weight like crazy.
