quotable quote
Knife in the back.
It’s what he deserved," said senior quarterback Cullen Harper
Twisting the knife.
“I’d call it karma,” [Harper] said. “I thought it needed to be done. I think anytime a head coach or someone in a leadership position starts to place blame on his coaches and players, it weakens their respect on the team. His past experiences have shown he’s done that.”
Perhaps the most recognizable mascot in sports, and certainly the toughest looking, Bevo is a fixture
5 star DB Craig Loston backed out of his commitment to Clemson, or is going to anyway...
He’s from Texas and I know nothing about him because recruiting is creepy and I don’t follow it. Any of you creepsters who do follow it want to shed some light on the chances of Texas reeling him in? Do we even have any scholarships left?
sounds like you do follow it some

nope
just read on Dr. Saturday that he backed out and that he’s from Texas. that’s all i know. don’t even know the town or high school. never heard of him before today. don’t follow it one bit.
you read the article
That’s creepy enough for me. You should have to go door-to-door every time you move into a new neighborhood.

His new top 3
are LSU, Texas and oddly enough Oregon. He does have an offer, and we are pretty much in the mix. This is his second decommitment though, so who knows.

and hey if you want some creepy info
He’s been seen wearing UT socks a couple of weeks ago :D

They should hire Kiffin
Seriously, he is young and has head coaching experience. He also could start right away and manage their recruiting problem. They have already lost their top two recruits because of this.

Loston had already opened up his recruiting, and I think his interest in Clemson was waning. The Bowden firing was just the final straw, and I’m pretty sure Oregon’s not nearly as big a contender as LSU and Texas.
I’m hoping they can snag Loston. Keeping top in-state talent within the state is important, especially when UT’s been ignoring most out-of-state prospects. It’d be nice if they could also pull Kennard and/or Kirkpatrick. Oh, and make a more serious run at Trent Richardson. Inform him and Kirkpatrick that if they sign with Saban, they’ll only be doing so for about three seasons, because that’s about his average tenure since going to Michigan State.

BTW, anyone know of any prospective recruits who were in attendance for the game on Saturday? I must not be creepy enough, because I can’t find anything on this.

Jamarcus Mcfarland was there
and a bunch of 2010 recruits. Ofcourse all as OU guests.

Loston ...
… put out a top 5 weeks ago and Clemson was nowhere to be found. Texas was in it. It would be a coup is UT got him because since the beginning of the recruiting game he has seemed to have an irrational dislike for UT. Probably just grew up listening to the Houston sports news establishment.
recruits at RRS
There were a lot of recruits but since this year that game was technically a road game for UT they were all guests of OU. Reports were that many, including J McFarland, were celebrating when UT was doing well.
Muschamp leaving??
Hey everyone, long time reader but first time comment. Is there going to be any chance that Muschamp stays for a another season?
Sure theres a chance
The only confirmed thing is that fans want him at Clemson, and that the job is open. So far, thats all.

i like to be optimistic...
..but I tend to think it’s more of a Lloyd Christmas chance that he stays considering his growing resume.

Hard to say who might replace him. I said in another thread that Muschamp could end up taking over at Clemson, but we’ll see. I still think he’ll be near the top of the list if Fulmer gets canned at Fake UT.
So what DC prospects might there be? Dick Bumpas, fourth-year DC at TCU? He’s not a marquee SEC phenom like Muschamp, but he gets a lot out of a little, and seems to have a scheme that could get even more out of a lot. He also strikes me as the type who’s not looking to jump at the chance to be a head coach, so if he turned out to be any good, he could stick around for many years.

Comments from Death Valley Ground Zero
-well, Columbia SC is close enough.
Here is whats going on out here. It hit the wire at about 12ish this afternoon in the form of a press conference being called for 515pm est. Speculation started this morning as to what was going on. I have a colleague who was on Clemson campus today when the news broke and the feel around campus is that they are finally relieved that it was a done deal. The biggest surprise out here isnt that he was fired or let go as the school president said, but that it happened in mid season. Their new head coach is the asst head coach/wr coach and he is well respected amongst the players and is what many refer to as a “high energy” guy. word is they are gonna give him a chance and see how he does and re-evaluate at the end of the year. At the news conference today the university president was VERY adamant that Tommy Bowden was NOT fired! They agreed over the weekend that it was in the best interest of the program for him to step away. Rob Spence the Offensive coordinator is getting the hook with him. It was initially reported that the school wanted to fire Spence but Bowden wasnt having it so he got the hook instead…Ouch. In any event, the players had mixed reactions but some say that this was deserved. spence, in particular, has caught a lot of criticism this season for his misuse of arguably the most dangerous 2 back combo in college football in James Davis and CJ Spiller.
Speculation for the new head coach following this season has already begun. I can tell you that Bobby Johnson’s name as well as Lane Kiffin are being mentioned in most media outlets but its just that, speculation. Now, Coach Muschamp’s name has been mentioned but I think its safe to say that his name will continue to be mentioned at every vacancy this year. This is the nature of the beast with a tough and aggressive guy but we went through the same stuff when Gene was with us and rightfully so. He is successful so his name will be mentioned. This wont be the last job he is mentioned for either so BONers; get used to it. PB, let me know if you have any specific questions and I will get you what I can as fast as I can.
