HONEST win-loss predictions...
I was discussing with my wife what the final win-loss would be for us this year at the end for the regular season...
Do y'all think we will go undefeated?
1-loss, if so to who?
2-loss?
I am sure there is no doubt on what BONers "want" the loss column to be, but what do you realistically think out record would be?
I think 1 loss - to either Ok St or Kansas...

Here is the way i look at it
I think we can play better then we did Saturday, a lot of early mistakes made that game closer than it was. If we play like that the rest of the way, no way we lose. We have beaten the best team on our schedule.
Saying that, OK state always worries me and they always seem to play better when its Texas. At Tech is a worry as well. And the simple fact that we could have another K-state 2006 situation

Imo this week will tell us a lot.
If we come out strong and handle our business, I think we go the distance.
If we come out flat, then I think we drop one. Probably to OSU.

No good reason for it
but I’ll say 11-1 record, loss this week, make up for it in Big 12 title game.

Take it game by game BUT...
I think our victory over Oklahoma has boosted the confidence in our team by the players, coaches and fans. We have what it takes to go undefeated, despite our brutal schedule. I think we can do it.

13-0
to all the prognosticators who said ’wait till 2009" i say keep watching 2008.
no one counted on an ou victory but this team has enormous chemistry and the only
reason for a loss is (dare i say it) a major injury ala Colt at K State in 2006. plus our
lack of turnovers is stunning.
watch saturday for texas 44 missouri 34 and 29- 24 in the big 12 championship game.
Texas 37 Penn State 20 in another dream season. Sports Illustrated br damned!!

Statistically Speaking
One loss is the most likely outcome. I’m guessing that Colt will get late hit by one of the thugs @ TTech, and go down for the game, concussed or whatever. This will further solidify my total loathing for Lubbock, and the stain that is the TTech program.

Barring Injuries
I think the worst we do is 1 loss. If we get past this game this week OK State is the only other worry. Tech just won’t be able to slow us down enough to win. By then our D will be well experienced and I think will come through that game just fine. Kansas just doesn’t have the guys up front. Baylor…don’t look past that one or something freaky could happen there. AtM…not even gonna happen this year!

One problem...
is that we have been under the radar until now. After Oklahoma and our ascension in the polls, every team will be as prepared, disciplined, and focused as possible for their game with us, a lot like UCF and Aggy in ’07 and UTEP this year. It makes the competition more difficult.

i understand your comment
but i always feel like teams wait for texas to give us everything they have allready. for some reason teams use us as a benchmark on how good their team is.

Some reason?
They use us as their benchmark because we ARE the benchmark. We’re Texas. What starts here, changes the world.

I hear you, but
the conference is so unbelievably good this year were it not for our 1st place ranking, our opponents would be just as likely to focus on us as they would be to focus on OU, Mizzou, Okie lite, or Tech.

Oh, and in answer to the first question
Zero losses. Just a week ago, i would have said 2, maybe 3 losses for this team. Now, I think 1 at the most, but looking week by week, I don’t see one where I would bet against us, even at Tech.
Still a very tough road, but the team doesn’t have to play Mizzou, Okie Lite and the Pirates of the Plains all at the same time. So, like a good alcoholic at AA says one day at a time, we can say one week at a time.

ou
is the best team Texas will play this year. So, Texas CAN go undefeated. Texas will win every game IF they win the turnover battle every week.

Great point
Right now, I think we’re better than any team on our schedule. Rather than being concerned about facing a better team, I’m more worried about the variability and unknowns that can lead to an upset. Like turnovers.
