It's Unanimous - BCS has Texas at #1 too
The AP poll is just out, and Texas gets all 65 first place votes. How's that for a convincing win last night?? The other thing I'm pleased to see is the Cowboys leap-frogging the Red Raiders, given their respective performances against conference cellar-dwellers yesterday. And finally Florida manages to hold off USC to keep 5th place.
1. Texas (65) 7-0 1,625
2. Alabama 7-0 1,543
3. Penn State 8-0 1,506
4. Oklahoma 6-1 1,358
5. Florida 5-1 1,307
6. USC 5-1 1,292
7. Oklahoma State 7-0 1,252
8. Texas Tech 7-0 1,194
9. Georgia 6-1 1,117
10. Ohio State 7-1 1,053

If there's any more reason not to overlook next week...
The computers have OK State ranked #3. I hope we just come out and put it to them. My heart can’t handle the stress of the past few years in this series.
okie state is doing very well. alot of people are talking about their running game, and i got in an argument last night with a guy about their rushing offense vs. our rushing defense. he claimed osu had a good offense and our defense was untested and ranking was overinflated. here are some numbers i used to backup my argument to the contrary…
if you think texas’ rush d may be inflated, compare it to osu’s opponents..
washington st #118 252yd/g
houston #105 197yd/g
missouri state NR NR
troy #73 151yd/g
texas a&m #112 223yd/g
missouri #33 110yd/g
baylor #58 134yd/g
and the rushing results from their games with the top run defenses…
baylor :
hunter 3.57ypc
robinson 4.07ypc
toston 4.7ypc
missouri :
hunter 6.41ypc (something like 3.5ypc if you take away a long 68yd run)
robinson 2.83ypc
toston 1.3ypc
the first time they see a defense that is in the top half of the rankings, their numbers aren’t as gaudy. solid still, but nothing fearful.
to backup my texas defense i said this.
florida atl – averaging 107yds held to 37yds
utep – averaging 146yds held to 145yds
rice – averaging 120yds held to 17yds
arkansas – average 115yds held to 11yds
colorado – averaging 114yds held to 49yds
oklahoma – averaging 151yds held to 48yds
missouri – averaging 171yds held to 30yds
texas’ run d is currently 3rd, last year they finished 6th, the year before 3rd. see a trend? i realize that the ranking is partially inflated (considering ooc games, sacks etc), but at the same time, they just held oklahoma and missouri to an average 39yds
also, texas’ dline is held down by 4 seniors. if you do not believe they’re proven, you’re foolish.
i’m much more worried about pettigrew and dez bryant, but muschamp knows what he needs to gameplan for.

me too ...

I sure expect so. I’ll bet he wasn’t happy with the D allowing the first rushing TDs of the season this weekend.

thanks
for the stats displaced, but one doesn’t need them. i have watched with my own eyes (every game at least twice thanks to tivo) and can confirm our run defence is in a word, aweeeeesome.
