Hmmm
And that’s one of their best defenses…nice.

So, WVU must have the greatest offense of all time, right?
to beat a world class SEC defense like that.

I'm complete shocked that an SEC defense
could have that happen to it. I’m sure there was some type of foul play involved. Perhaps officials tackling Auburn players.

Looks like I picked a good week to write an "SEC Defenses aren't THAT good" column
Unfortunately, looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffin’ glue.

Is there a good week to quit sniffin' glue?
Just tell the boys to win just one for the Zipper.

Just to refresh some memories
Colorado beat WVU earlier this year, holding them to 14 points.

Noel Devine - 207 yards!!!!!
That’s one heckuva rush D.
And check out the game recap video on ESPN – absolutely horrific tackling on WVU’s final TD. Does Tuberville survive?

He had better survive
Think Coach Boom might be attracted to a HC opening at Auburn?
They better keep Tubes.

Most important game for Tuberville - for now
This was a must-win game for Tubby. There is a lot of bad blood between Tuberville and the Auburn Board of Trustees (very long story). They are itching to get rid of him, and this season is the first good excuse they’ve had.
There are only two things that will save him now: either he beats Auburn’s two biggest rivals in successive weeks (who, by the way, are both currently ranked in the top 10), or Colonial Bank shares are so bad that Bobby Lowder can’t afford Tubs’ $6 million buyout.
Actually, it’s more like a total investment of $11-12 million, what with severances for assistants and the hiring of a new coach, new staff, etc. The lousy economy might just wind up saving Tuberville’s (and a lot of other coaches) hides this off-season.
Friends may come and go, but enemies accumulate.

This year, Auburn = Baylor
Don’t judge us by our piss-poor teams, and we won’t judge you by yours.
I’ll admit, that was a blow to the SEC’s national reputation — and it should be — but it showed Auburn’s pretty defensive numbers for what they were: a mirage. If an interconference foe were to beat Florida or Alabama or Georgia like that, I’d be impressed.

struggling WVU > Auburn's D
yah i agree, this is good evidence against the SEC’s Defenses-are-godlike argument… but what puzzles me about this game is why it happened at all.
Seems strange for WVU to schedule a non-conference game against a tough opponent in the middle of its schedule. Does this thing happen often? Or only in the step-away-from-flag-football Big East??

This game
Was originally scheduled for early September, but Auburn requested the change, and WVU agreed. I’m sure ESPN had a hand in this as well.
Auburn’s reason for the change? You’ll love this. To give its young QBs more time to “master” its new spread offense.

did anyone else notice something strange about Tuberville's gear?
as often as the ESPN crew kept showing Tubby Thurs night it finally ocurred to me what seemed out of place, Tubs’ jacket was NOT that weird parking cone orange that Auburn and Tenn (aka the other UT) have, it was BURNT ORANGE…check the tape I swear, home boy was sportin’ a burnt ornage jacket while WV took his much vaunted defense to the shed running a souped up zone read all night long. Considering WV spotted Auburn 10 pts. it was really quite the blowout…
