OSU at Texas Second Half Open Thread
Texas leads 21-14 at half, but hasn't been particularly sharp. The kickoff team has been a disaster. OSU gets the ball to start the second half.

officially nervous
Muschamp needs to make some adjustments in 2nd half. Not feeling good that we’re dominating Time of Possession and only up 7.
Still, better than being down 35-3

PB was totally right
When he named OSU’s offensive line as MVP a few weeks back . . . Rak has barely been mentioned. I haven’t heard Miller’s name called (course, these announcers managed to get Blake Gideon on OSU). Pass rush mediocre, pressure not consistent, lotta rushing yardage allowed. But biggest deal is field position . . . that’s defense and special teams.

agreed...
d comes on field in horrible position and going against MO every time. i say kick the ball out of bounds and give it to them at the 35.

2nd half adjustments
Defense and special teams need to tackle. Schematically, the defense seems to be a little out of position, particularly on OSU’s first and second possession. We were a little lucky to have the fumble. Kickoff…boot it out of the end zone.
The pride and winning tradition of The University of Texas will not be entrusted to the weak or the timid.

OSU is a hard team to be aggressive against.
They victimize and punish you if you fail in your aggression. And they have a couple of ringers in TE and Dez Bryant. And, obviously, they can run. Basically, you got to contain and outscore, the pattern the so far.

The pressure is not the problem.
The D-line has gotten some descent pressure, but every freakin’ time #87 is wide open, the damn tight end is what is killing us. They need to have someone on him constantly.

they're doing a really good job...
of blocking on the edges. Plus we’re missing a ton of tackles.
I’m disappointed in the defense right now, but…. These guys are really good.

Sounds like OSU has taken the crowd out. Can anyone comment?

OR: Gundy's offense can victimize most any defense, which is probably the case.
It’s pick your poison and hope for TOs.

oh man
This defense still has a ways to go before we can start thinking any type of championship. We have to score on every posession to win

this is seriously reminding me of last years game only for OSU.
by girlslikefootball2 on Oct 25, 2008 4:52 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
they haven’t trailed by much the entire game.

OSU has 153 passing, 160 running.
Texas has 410, 307 + 83, +5 on TOP, half of what it was.
So, clamping on the running does seem to be wise at this point.
Offense must keep scoring.

winning the line of scrimmage
will make the other team look bad.

Time for Muschamp to put the fear of satan into the D. This is ridiculous. It’s only 21pts. so far, but this team should be dominating.
C’mon, statement game.

Winning ugly is needed to get the MNC
2005 team did it

Love all of the morose, end-of-the-world comments.
We’re playing the #6 team in the country, have the ball, and are up by 7.

i think it's just our run D
our pass D isnt doing that bad. We’re getting shredded by their running backs

Need more than 7 pt lead
OSU will be hard to stop if it comes down to a 2pt conversion for the win.
The pride and winning tradition of The University of Texas will not be entrusted to the weak or the timid.
Hook'em

It's on the players
Coaches can only do so much. All the scheming in the world won’t help you if the players don’t execute and play with fire. Time to get it going guys.

Worse case scenario
This is the worst game to turn the ball over. We can’t stop Hunter. Hopefully we can limit them to a FG.
