OSU at Texas Second Half Open Thread
Texas leads 21-14 at half, but hasn't been particularly sharp. The kickoff team has been a disaster. OSU gets the ball to start the second half.

Everyone
Step back from the ledge, things are going to be fine.
Perhaps the most recognizable mascot in sports, and certainly the toughest looking, Bevo is a fixture
officially nervous
Muschamp needs to make some adjustments in 2nd half. Not feeling good that we’re dominating Time of Possession and only up 7.
Still, better than being down 35-3
Agreed. We do not look sharp at all.

PB was totally right
When he named OSU’s offensive line as MVP a few weeks back . . . Rak has barely been mentioned. I haven’t heard Miller’s name called (course, these announcers managed to get Blake Gideon on OSU). Pass rush mediocre, pressure not consistent, lotta rushing yardage allowed. But biggest deal is field position . . . that’s defense and special teams.
agreed...
d comes on field in horrible position and going against MO every time. i say kick the ball out of bounds and give it to them at the 35.
I know what's wrong
and it is my fault. I neglected to wear my gameday shirt. Issue corrected for the 2nd half.
That shit is not acceptable...

2nd half adjustments
Defense and special teams need to tackle. Schematically, the defense seems to be a little out of position, particularly on OSU’s first and second possession. We were a little lucky to have the fumble. Kickoff…boot it out of the end zone.

Hook'em
is it time
to dig into the defensive bag of tricks?
OSU is a hard team to be aggressive against.
They victimize and punish you if you fail in your aggression. And they have a couple of ringers in TE and Dez Bryant. And, obviously, they can run. Basically, you got to contain and outscore, the pattern the so far.
Pattern for who? They're 7-0, and Gundy is a Man

Special teams is really what is keeping the score close. If we shore that up, quit with the short fields, we are in good position to win
The pressure is not the problem.
The D-line has gotten some descent pressure, but every freakin’ time #87 is wide open, the damn tight end is what is killing us. They need to have someone on him constantly.
Okay, I don’t care if Texas is actually ahead by a touchdown. Pretend we’re down 32pts., and go on a 42+ point run anyway.

texas : 336 yds of offense in the first half
osu : 174 yds of offense
texas needs to cover their fucking kicks/punts better and stop giving them great field position…. then they can blow this team out, until then… osu willl play tight when they only have to travel 50 yds for a td

Can’t recall Texas missing so many tackles at the LOS in a long time, but I suspect the blocking has a lot do to with that. Reaches, grabs, lunges by the D-line
Their D is making Texas work for it too. Lot's of third downs.
If our QB was a mere mortal, we’d be in trouble. I am convinced that this is the best team we’ve played this year (even if OU had a more potent offense).

OSU has 153 passing, 160 running.
Texas has 410, 307 + 83, +5 on TOP, half of what it was.
So, clamping on the running does seem to be wise at this point.
Offense must keep scoring.

You're nuts
Remember to extremely young secondary and young linebackers too. Add to that we only have one defensive tackle in Roy Miller. He’s done an amazing job with what he had to work with and coach up. And that’s just on the defensive side of the ball. He’s fired up the entire team including the offensive side and probably made GD work a whole lot harder. Think what he’s done with less than a year.

The more talented, deep team always has the advantage in the fourth quarter, and I think that benefits Texas today. OSU’s defenders are wearing down a lot faster than UT’s OL, and the Longhorn front seven has been doing a lot of rotation (lots of Lewis, Norton, Jones, etc.) so I expect them to hold up. Sorry, I told my three-year-old (who helped UT win the title in ’05, I should tell you) that she could post.
Let’s go guys! Get a first down! That should seal it.

then we dont kickoff to them and they have to drive 99+ yards for a td…

Why not?

they pulled it out for us in the 4th

Haven’t needed them since Nebraska last year.
I'm not sure
the best team won this one. I’ll take it, but . . . . .
Absolutely the best team won
Hats off to OSU. They played great, but Texas was definitely the better team. To be sure, Texas has a lot of work to do for the TT night game.

And ends up improving.
i'm with you
and OSU is a fine football team. TO’s in the 4th made this one a nailbiter

What happened there after the game?
was that Muschamp getting into it with one of the OSU coaches?
He's probably pissed OSU players were kicking our players in the head after they were down

I am glad we had this tough game and got tested physically and mentally. I think we go into next week with a chip on our shoulder. I believe this game made us that much better. This was a good thing.
A win is a win
Totally agree with you, I know we like the comfortable wins, but you always have to have that close ugly one, sometimes even two of them. They held on and did not give in, gotta love this team. I am glad I do not have a bad heart.

Not every
game will be a blowout and this team showed it can win the close ones too…Not too bad considering most people would have been happy if they went 2-2 during this four game stretch before the season started…
There is no greater privilege than supporting the Burnt Orange Bevo Boys...and Girls...
Did we believe our own hype? Have an off day? Out played?
Either way I agree it is good to have this type of game at home and not next week in west Texas
Met a really good offensive team...
and had an off-day defensively…
Yea a combination of a really good team and maybe an off day. Those miss tackles
were an off day and great blocking and running on their part
Don't understand all the rampant negativity
during this one. Give OSU credit and realize the Horns are 3 games into a gauntlet of terror and have made it through unscathed so far. Another huge game next week. HOOK ’EM HORNS!

Agreed. OSU is fo' real

Colt got a couple of bonehead moves out of his system, and still came away with the W against a strong, strong opponent.
for the record I'm convinced OSU's defense is legit
They held a Texas team avg 48 points a game to 28. Impressed
They weren't bad by any means,
but our inability to get 3 and outs against them is also a factor.
alot has to do to lack of running game
OG looked very slow today
we gotta do something better on rushing the ball, we looked like 2007 team on second half

Haha, couldnt resist, but ya point taken
Survive and advance
If you’re gonna win a championship, you going nto have to survive at least one nail biter where you aren’t at your best. Okie State impressed me, I do think they’re better than OU. No shame in winning that one.
oh yea.....theme of the NCAA Tounrey
w is a w. all the coaches will have PLENTY of material to break down and get on the players this week. i think they defenitely learned that they were not invincable and they can be beat if they play like shit.
yeah, the two very atypical turnovers big part of that...
we drove the field on them repeatedly.
Tough slog, but the Horns got the win.
On to Lubbock now. Next weeks gauntlet game may prove the toughest.

I don't know about you guys but I am a bit scared about the next game
our defense missed crap load of tackles today….and muschamp didnt seem to be too pissed, which is not saying much…but the way we have been playing for last 6 quarters…we are not playing good defense
my first born shall be named vy
if we play like we did today, we're certainly in trouble...
BUT… hopefully we play a lot better than that.
Who thought we could win scoring only 7 in the second half??
Defense wasn’t dominant in the second but VASTLY better and it was enough to get it done. We’ve been phenomenal in the red zone all year but the two TOs inside the ten were really the reason it wasn’t an 18 point game. Even though the offense struggled we really saw the benefit of Offense as Defense.

I honestly think...
that the mizzou game spoiled all of us (including me). We can’t be expected to boat race everyone. Okie Light is a damn good team, and we struggled against them.

WE WON
Thank the fuck. And that is all that matters. The Techies should really fear us. After this close call, we are going to go balls out like there is a nuclear explosion deep inside our minds, and our brains are burning… We got a flamethrower hate, can’t you see?
Hook Tech’s fuckin’ asses!
May Colt be with you. Yeah, that's right.
I am not sure I would fear us after watching the this game on tape...
yes win is a win, but this game took away fear factor out of us
my first born shall be named vy
I think the Red Faders
would be remiss if they did not fear us. Again, after this close one I think we could destroy anyone anywhere next time.
May Colt be with you. Yeah, that's right.
lets hope so
I feel like our players are starting to get big headed and expecting a win rather than working for it
i.e. miss tackling, special team coverage, etc

we will leave a red stain on the field in Lubbock and never look back.

Good teams win ugly
That’s no excuse for bad play. If we repeat this next week we will absolutely lose. However, our defense played poorly most of the way (the run defense especially), the offense had one of its worst halves of the season, Colt had uncharacteristic turnovers, all against A DAMN GOOD TEAM. In spite of that we won. In past years we lose this game.

Could've/Should've been a blow out
We only had the ball 8 times (exc the last 1min of the first half.
We scored 4
Punted 1
Then gave up INT, Fumble (at 10) and downs (at 1)
that’s 14 or 21 more that we gave away/OSU D stepped up
our D came thru but mainly because the O kept the ball 33+min
