I knew nothing of the guy until about 10 minutes ago, so I am pretty sure I am behind on how great this kid really is.
The guy sure has alot to live up to; though, following both Vince Young and Colt McCoy.
Lastly, what are the chances he pulls a Ryan Perriloux?

I Feel Stupid
You are right – that was the dumbest poll ever posted and I submitted a response. That leaves me even dumberer.

If you're in Austin Friday night, LT and Drip will face off in a Hill Country Classic.
Lake Travis hosts undefeated Dripping Springs in what will be the greatest game in that series’ history and, incidentally, the District 25-4A championship. The stadium is situated on Hwy. 620, a couple of miles from Hwy. 71, about 30 miles from Austin. Game time is 7:30. You better be there early, early to get a seat.
These teams are vicious and bitter rivals. Drip has barely slipped by several teams, including mine in OT, in district play. They really aren’t that close to Lake Travis, but like last year, Drip also had a key player break a leg recently, so they’re not at peak strength. Nonetheless, this is an extremely nasty game.

If you're serious
about having never heard of him, here are his stats for the season (he had a bye last week, so these are still current): Garrett Gilbert Cumulative Stats

not gonna lie
I was on the Russell Shepard bandwagon before because he would’ve been perfect for the VY zone-read offense, but man, Garrett Gilbert is going to look REAL GOOD running our Colt McCoy “junk” offense.

LOL
Colt McCoy "junk" offense
I bet Danielson wouldn’t come to Texas and say that.
Perhaps the most recognizable mascot in sports, and certainly the toughest looking, Bevo is a fixture

For shame
As mentioned above, Gilbert verbally committed the day after national signing day for the 2008 class. He is at the top of every recruiting list in the country and has been talked about quite a bit on this blog. Additionally, he is from Lake Travis which is about 15 minutes from Austin. VERY late to the party.
Zero chance of decommitting.

Growing up in Austin ?? means you play for UT?
Tell that to Drew Brees
by 2Bearnest on Oct 30, 2008 6:41 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
i was too young..
but did UT offer Brees? I know other sub 6’ QB’s that weren’t offered, but wanted to go…

Um
We did not recruit Drew Brees. He’s a childhood friend of mine and I was furious. We thought him “too small.”
Ugh.

Brees
Do you think he would have signed if he had been offered?

You are correct, but.....
Truth is he did not even want to go to Texas though.
His team of choice? Washington State.
