Red River, night sweats, etc.
After the 38-14 victory over Colorado, I'm more worried about Red River. While the defense has definitely improved over the last 5 weeks, I still don't think we have the answers necessary in the secondary.
Colt has been amazing thus far, but he showed flashes of '07 Colt, forcing a couple of balls in the first game with a semblance of pressure. Going in to ou, the Irby injury becomes all too relevant. Shipley and Cosby have done all that anyone could ask for, but we don't have a third receiver. We don't have a tight end who can catch. We do have a solid outlet in Ogbonnaya, but we're not going to see him break anything for distance against a defense the likes of ou. If they are able to clamp down on the corners, our offense could be in for a long day at the fair.
The running game looks even more suspect after playing our first legitimate defense of the year. Cody has promise in short yardage situations, but he isn't going to provide the ever elusive explosives. If Fozzy doesn't play, who do we have that is capable of breaking one? And for that matter, could Fozzy break one if he played?
I realize I'm dwelling on the negative after our 5th consecutive blowout, and if anyone would lke to portray this glass as half full, it would be most welcomed.

I'm mostly worried
because Rice, UTEP, Arkansas and FAU — combined — have maybe 2 players who could start for OU, and Colorado has 5-6. In other words, there’s gonna be a new sheriff on the other sideline, and he draws faster and shoots more accurately than the Longhorns can imagine.

Agreed......
We won’t see Chris Ogbonnaya running away from the Gooners. Fozzy must get well quick, or the Gooners will never respect our running game.
Coach Hawkins has taken the loss of 6 O-Linemen quite well. I’m not sure we would look that good with 3 starters out for the season.

Fozzy
I think he is the key to this offense, as well as throwing the ball more then 12 yards down field

Make Fozzy Earn Legendary Status
How is this guy getting so much hype? He has played one game against a terrible team. How do we know that this isn’t a guy who will see the tub more often than the field?

It's crazy, isn't it.
The guy has 76 career yards. Maybe he can turn water into wine and walk across water. No wonder he has weak knees, all the pressure he has from everyone on his shoulders anointing him Buddha v2.0.
Perhaps the most recognizable mascot in sports, and certainly the toughest looking, Bevo is a fixture

Why no respect for Chris O?
His ypc average is almost the same as Fozzy – yet everyone acts like he couldn’t possibly run against OU. I just don’t get it.

I just hope
that our coaches have been saving some plays/schemes (not anything related to the Q package though). I know the players will be pumped but hopefully not too wired…..
Maybe Fozzy was held out of the CU game just to make sure he was completely healthy for OU.
Remember we came very close to winning the game last year. I know the personnel is slightly altered and some have gained another year of experience……..plus our defense won’t be littered with “seniors” just because they are seniors…..Muschamp is putting the best guys out there.
Think positive ya’ll………maybe this will be another case of the media hyping up OU so much that then end up tumbling just like USC, Georgia……
