Colorado Bad Call
Ok, here goes my yearly post.
1. Any word on the horrendously bad call from the Colorado game where the player ran the ball out of the end zone and we tackled him for a saftey, but the refs remembered they were in Colorado and said it was a touchback?
2. Shouldn't there be a penalty for throwing yellow shirts onto the field?
3. My pick for the Blow U game: 35 21 Texas.
The diffence of the game will be qb play. Yes we do not have a running game, but that is ok. Colt is much more a dynamic player than Bradford is because COlt is much more mobile. Bradford will not run the ball, and even if he did, OU recievers do not know how to block for a running qb. Since some of our offense relies on Colt running the ball, our recievers know how to finish a block. I think our D will slow down the Sooner offense, more more than the Sooner D can stop us. Colt is much better under presssure, becuase he can run. If our front 4 can pressure Bradford, he will not know what to do. My example is Tech last, he tried running the ball, and ended up not knowing where he was. I still expect our d to give up yards and big plays, but in the end, I fell confident Muschamp can have us rocking and rollng to win 3 of the last 4 against OU.
4. Its 9:30 and OU still sucks.

bad call
The ball has to completely come out of the end zone, and it wasn’t clear that it had. In fact, it looked like it didn’t, so it was actually a good call.
However, even if it had come out of the end zone, forward progress would have given Colorado the ball inside the 1-yard line. It wouldn’t have been a safety.

It looked to me like
he actually stepped back on his own after he stepped on the line, but before he was hit. In that case, had the entire ball broken the plane and he then stepped back on his own it would have been a safety.
Of course there was not a camera directly down the line, but it didn’t look like the ball broke the plane to me either.
I think if there is going to be replay they should mandate cameras directly down some of the lines, goal and endlines at least.

New Rule...
The 1st thing that came to my mind was Ramonce Taylor vs Ohio St., where he stepped on the goal line in attempt to stay in and was forced to run it out. Fortunately, he was athletic enough to make it into a positive play, nearly breaking for a touchdown.
I thought safety, then listened to the explaination and did my own research. Changed from the body breaking the plane to the ball having to break the plane.
I thought Colt got away with crossing the line of scrimmage on his first TD pass. He was past the LOS but the rulle now is that as long as some part of your body is behind the line, it doesn’t matter where the ball is released. I find it difficult to keep up with all the new “little” rules.

On that Colt play...
Was anyone else annoyed by what to me sounded like the worst color commentary we have had all year?
Dave kept going on about how you could have your hand with the ball being the only part behind the line.
WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? You cant have a forward pass, and have the ball be the farthest part back of the QB. Its just not possible. Unless he has amazing wrist and finger strength to “flick” the ball forward, the ball will be the farthest point forward, which I have yet to see in the history of man and ape-kind.
When people are either A) Running or B) Throwing a ball while not running, its the BACK FOOT that will be the farthest back point of someones body. Never the ball hand.
That whole commentary track drove me absolutely bonkers, as you can see.

You are right, it was driving me crazy !
I consider myself just an average fan, and I know the rule. There I was forced to listen to that dope who is supposedly a professional sports announcer, and he had no clue at all, and to make it worse he droned on and on about it. I would think that there would be some sort of qualifications necessary in order to get that job.

I dont understand the hate for the jump pass
If it was good enough for Bronko freaking Nagurski (Best football name ever?) its good enough for me.
However, even the jump pass ends with your throwing arm forward. You would have to have some wickedly messed up shoulders to not have your shooting hand in front of your body after a basketball-like shot.

it was about the phrase...
Throwing a ball while not running, its the BACK FOOT that will be the farthest back point of someones body. Never the ball hand.
no feet are on the ground, so how is that statement correct.
but you are correct, I don’t like the jump pass, probably b/c it’s Tebow, and it’s unconventional nature. Just a preference for my eyes more than anything. Also, just b/c it happened in the earlier years, doesn’t mean I have to like it. Not really analogous, but imagine someone wearing one of those leather helmets nowadays. It would look really stupid. But again, that’s just me.

So, when does a pass start?
It is: Hello, big boy!
Or is it: You’re way over the line, big boy, but I’ll give you a second chance.

Hrmm...
The fade away jump pass. An unblockable TD throw.
I like it, add it to the arsenal.

Roger Staubach used to throw a beautiful jump pass.
Just sayin’.

"I asked Darrell Royal, the coach of the Texas Longhorns, why he didn’t recruit me and he said: "Well, Walt, we took a look at you and you weren’t any good.

I think it is worse than that.
The broadcast Director must have been drunk or on reds. Both Comcast and Fox sports do have crap for on air talent for the most part. The worst though in my mind is camera action. After many plays the camera spends the whole time on the coach or a player or the crowd for the reaction shot. By the time they get back to the next play the cameras are out of position and you can’t see the play. Some times the even are paying so little attention to the game they miss the next play ( and the announcers don’t even notice) because they are showing fans hamming it up for the camera or some cheerleaders ass. Some time it seems like the camera crew is bored and don’t like football compared to what is happening in the stands.
I woud say two things
Camera crew, FOCUS ON THE GAME! everything else is crap with no appeal.
Announcers, You don’t have to talk for every second of the broadcast, especially if you don’t have anything important about the game to say.
