Lets hope he stays a long time
No matter what happens next Saturday I know that in the end Will Muschamp will have done everything in his power to have the Texas D ready for war and playing elite football. Which is fantastic because this is the first time since the 2004 and 2005 season that I feel the Texas D is out there to take peoples heads off and want everyone to know it. It's very exciting to watch indeed.
Unfortunately for me and my fellow Texas fans we are not the only ones who see this. I mean I know Clemson was looking for a new head coach but my god I had no idea. Of course at this point in the season I'm not worried about it, in fact I really feel he will stay on another year at least if he does leave.
Anyway this my not be news to some of you but to me its just another reason why no matter what happens this Saturday and afterwards, I know we have the best defensive coach or should I say best BOOM! coach in the country fighting for us in the trenches.
Just three more days...

That “Solid Boom!” site is really funny. And boy do they love Muschamp. Hopefully the blogger isn’t secretly Clemson’s AD.
Realistically, if Clemson comes calling I don’t see how Muschamp turns them down. That’s a top-25 job in the country, and it’s about as good as Will could expect to do in his first head coaching assignment.

Unless
There’s a 5 years down the road deal for the HC job here.

5 years would be tough ...
… don’t know how good WM would feel about that, since there’s a redhead being groomed for that position.

highly doubt it
This is Texas. It’s easily among the best jobs in college football. When Mack Brown retires, Dodds will be able to choose the next head coach from a massive pool of candidates, including most college head coaches, every coordinator in the country, and probably some NFL guys too. Major won’t be getting the job just because he was a popular quarterback here. Applewhite has got a ton to prove before he’s even considered.

He's outta here
One and Done. I wish it weren’t so because with him we’d have a legit shot at a national title next year. With the way the defense continues to improve and the hype that already existed around him I can’t imagine he doesn’t get an offer that is too good to refuse.

next year-
But, if he knows we have a shot at the national title next year, maybe he’d want to stick around to add that to his resume??

Tennessee.....
….will be the job that draws him away from Texas. If they move on Fulmer (probably before season’s end), then Muschamp will be a top-3 interview. If he’s offered then pack the moving van.

It's not only Clemson
There might also be an opening @ Tennessee. Fat Phil is going to be institutionalized if he doesn’t turn the Vols’ season around soon. I also wouldn’t be too surprised if Spurrier doesn’t hang it up after this year. Washington will come calling, but please.
I think it’s safe to say that Muschamp will be the #1 or #2 choice of everyone who has an opening. If he’s smart, he’ll go to Clemson and take the easier path to the BCS every year at a school that loves football and will worship the ground he walks on.

IMO..
I wouldn’t leave for South Carolina. If Spurrier couldn’t win there, why would I try? I agree Clemson seems to have a lot of talent, and Muschamp seems like he gets the most out of talent.

I’m always proud that Mack is such a stand up guy (even if a little soft sometimes) that he draws in talent like Muschamp who understand the value of a Grade A coach and human being like Brown.

I hope Muschamp stays for a while
But in all likelihood, he’s gone after a couple seasons. I think he’ll want to return next year, but after that, it’ll be hard to turn down all the HC offers he’ll be getting.

As I mentioned in another thread
While his personality is perfect for a defensive coordinator, Muschamp is way too emotional to be a good head coach. As a public service, we should make sure that the ADs/search committees at Tennessee, Clemson, Washington (and wherever else) all know that. Muschamp will only be ready for a head coaching job on the day Mack retires, and not a day before.

way too emotional to be a head coach?
you are joking right? Can’t tell if that is sarcasm over a thread or not…

Sarcasm, moi?
As long as the teams looking for a head coach believe it, I’m happy.
Those teams should leave our DC alone. It’s for their own good. Look at Syracuse.
But seriously, I think Will would make a great head coach. I just hope he sticks around here for awhile before he moves on.

while it's obviously hard to predict
I don’t think he will leave after just one year. The horns are expected to be major contenders next year and his coaching, attitude, and personality have been nothing short of amazing for the program. He’s the type of guy who plays through his players; you can tell how badly he wants to win it all and i don’t see him leaving the team he’s helped bring so close before he gets that championship ring.
With that said, i also think the fact that he’s so young will cause him to stay. Sure the head coaching job offers will be coming in left and right, but he’s got a long career ahead of him. What’s the rush? He’s not in a pressure situation where he has to grab the HC offers he gets right now in fear that he never gets another opportunity. Because there will be plenty more opportunities for him down the line. His stock wont go down as long as he’s having success. And he’ll continue to be successful because coaching abilities don’t just wither away. His attitude, personality, and football IQ that make him so in demand wont diminish as the years go by (well, maybe when he’s super old and senile, but even then i could picture an old Muschamp in a wheelchair down on the sidelines, blood running down his face from a headset he pulled off in a fiery rage).
Besides, being DC at Texas is a pretty nice job to begin with; it’s not like he’s callin’ plays at West Middle State College of Southern Wyoming…University…or somethin like that lol
