Alabama will lose in the SEC Championship or to LSU…OU will get jumped by us if we make it to the Big XII Championship…Penn State still has to play Iowa and Michigan State, and we all know Tech’s schedule.

A lot of poor execution
On more plays than just the last one.

Hook'em
Look at the big picture
I think we held them to as few points as we could’ve expected. Difference was the offense screwing around for the better part of 3 quarters
i didnt see double coverage on crabtree on that last play
if it was 12 was WAAAAAYYYYY late. and wtf not destroying crabtree to knock him out of bounds? if THAT was his man??
Keep in mind...
This one stings. I think losing Tech is worse than losing to anyone except aggy, however, and I know things changed Oct. 11th, but we still came into this year thinking this would be a building block to 09, and as Possessed mentioned, we did grow this game, as much as it hurts. Malcolm Williams became a man. Gideon will probably play with more dedication than ever, so will the young WRs who dropped ball after ball, Colt fought and fought, and the whole team played as bad as could be expected, and still almost came out on top. This could be like the OU game in 04. Fight, and just come up short only to springboard to a BCS Bowl and an MNC the next year.
I’m not giving up on this year. Just trying to keep things in perspective. If before the year someone said we’d be 8-1 after the Tech game I think we’d all have jumped on that.
Great game. Lots to go. Hook ’em.
'Til Gabriel blows his horn...
we are playing with so many freshman
We still can make it to the National Championship Game.
Alabama has such a hard schedule ahead.
Tech is just starting where we were 4 weeks ago.
ok so let's see
if tech loses to osu and tech beats ou we’d probably be the highest ranked team..
if tech loses to ou ou wins big 12 south via being highest ranked team.
if tech loses both, which they will, texas win big 12 south via tiebreaker with ou and osu.
if i’m right, pretty good situation if you ask me.
if tech loses to ou why ou wins big 12 south?
won’t there be 3 way tie?
my first born shall be named vy
i wonder how politics will play in hand
if OU wins, then they are going to want osu to lose to tech
we need both of those teams to beat tech
I wonder what will drive osu players?
my first born shall be named vy
no
Combined head-to-head record among teams.
Records of the tied teams within the division.
Head-to-head competition versus the team within the division with the best overall (divisional or conference) record, and proceeding through the division.
by Michael Bean on Nov 1, 2008 11:13 PM CDT up reply actions
In this case
If tech only loses to winner of OU/OK st, then it goes to BCS rankings.
If tech only loses to loser of OU/OSU then tech goes.
If tech loses both, UT goes.
3 way tie but ou will be the highest ranked team
i believe thats how it works
TT needs to lose 2
So TT won’t have the tiebreaker over Texas. Texas runs the rest of the schedule and has the tiebreaker over OU and OSU.
Plays in Big XII Championship over Missouri? Should be enough to get in NC. PSU’s got a weak schedule except for OSU.
The pride and winning tradition of The University of Texas will not be entrusted to the weak or the timid.

Disciplina Praesidium Civitatis.
Stay positive – yes this loss hurts – but the team needs to focus on the next 3 games and take care of business and see what happens. Yes, Gideon dropped a sure INT – no one feels worse than him. But, Colt should not have stepped out of bounds with 2+ minutes left could have burned some more clock. If we hold up Crab and knock him out game is over. Hey they did not quit. Hook ’em!
I disagree on colt stepping out of bounds
u are saying he shouldnt have stepped out and take a hit from the defenders?
my first born shall be named vy
he should have slid? not sure if that stops the clock though...
if we’re talking about the late run with about 2.5 minutes left….
I think the clock started even though he went out...
I just happened to see the clock on the ABC screen thing. There was just over two min. left.
We're Texas...and you're NOT
New rule
When a player runs out of bound with over 2:00 the clock stops until the ball is reset then it starts up. I would have run an extra 10-15 seconds.
'Til Gabriel blows his horn...
Agree we should have run at least 7...
seconds more (Wasn’t there 6 on the clock before that play?)
We're Texas...and you're NOT
Much bigger deal
was not running more clock on the goal to go plays. Shoudl have snapped the ball with no more than 3 seconds on play clock
so u expected mcgee to fall down if he were about to score?
I dont think that is not something we can control
my first born shall be named vy
No - you misunderstand
I’m talking about running clock before you snap. We snapped ball with about 15-20 seconds on clock both times, if you run 20 more seconds on those plays, it makes a difference
does anyone know how a tie breaker works out
if ou or osu beat tech, but one loses and lets say whoever beats tech ends up with one loss, how do they figure that one out
thats not correct
just looked it up:
Combined head-to-head record among teams.
Records of the tied teams within the division.
Head-to-head competition versus the team within the division with the best overall (divisional or conference) record, and proceeding through the division.
by Michael Bean on Nov 1, 2008 11:15 PM CDT up reply actions
In this case it's true
Because all 3 teams (be it us, Tech and OU or OSU) will have identical conference and division records, the BCS ranking will be key. Assuming Tech loses at least one, they’ll probably be hurt the most in the BCS rankings. Logic dictates that our insane schedule plus 6 point road loss and head to head against OU and OSU will keep us far enough ahead to warrant the higher ranking.
Great game Texas. You all have a great team and you came back like champs. I am glad to be from Texas. I’m glad we won, but you all have a great team.

to come back and play so well, and drop the game, this team has a TON of fight in it, even tired, bruised banged up we fought our asses back into this game. Hell Of a finish. wish we could have pulled it out but the season is not over yet and the title game is not out of reach! WE’RE TEXAS!
We got beat up tonight. Hope that isn't too bad.
Hope Rak and Miller aren’t bad.
Questions to answer.....
1. Can we rebound from a heart-breaking loss?
2. Can Gideon bounce back and put it behind him?
3. Will OSU have enough motivation to beat tech, if tech loses to OU?
4. Can our OL start playing fo real from the beginning of the game?

They’re a lot better than they’ve been in a long time. They’ll be the first team we’ve played with a mobile QB. I just hope our fans are supportive and aware enough to show up early and show the team we still believe. Crowd will be important next week in helping them bounce back.

I don’t disagree with that, but Baylor’s not OU, OSU, or TT. I think this team gets back to work. Everybody is going to be ragging on the O-line all week, so they should be up. We win this game if they were in it.

i'm already hungover
i can’t believe this happened, but i think we’ll be alright.
God I hated our first play of the game....that pretty much ruined things for 3 quarters
my first born shall be named vy
so i haven’t followed the thread, but i’m sure it’s been mentioned….
colt mccoy runs out of bounds on the 2nd to last play of the last drive. stops clock. as soon as he did that i was furious. anyone else see that coming? that they didn’t eat up more clock..
it wasn’t going to take texas 2 minutes to gain 4 yards to the end zone…
by Displaced Longhorn on Nov 1, 2008 11:26 PM CDT reply actions
the clock only stops...
if a player goes out of bounds with less than 2 minutes left to play
I am sure tech let us score
didnt put up much fight when mcgee ran the ball…I really dont think you can blame colt for stepping out of bounds
defense was playing pretty well—bending but not breaking
my first born shall be named vy
still outside of two minutes
So clock started back up when ball and chains were set. The bigger problem was not letting the clock run down before snapping the ball on first and second down.
tiebreaker
Someone asked about this above:
- If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other
2. The records of the three teams will be compared within their division
3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of fi nish (4, 5 and 6)
4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents;
5. The highest ranked team in the fi rst Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative
6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative
7. The representative will be chosen by draw.
In other words...
If there is a true three-way tie at 7-1, then it will come down to BCS ranking.
One exception
If Tech loses to loser of OU/OSU, then tech goes because they are 2-0 against the two teams they are tied with.
5
Interesting. We might have to get all the way down to number 5.

the first one after the end of the Big 12 season.
We're Texas...and you're NOT
How unfortunate
If Texas is ranked above OU, but they beat TT, I bet the polls push them over Texas….Stupid “what have you done for me 5 seconds ago system.” Nevermind that Texas lost at TT on the next to last second, and beat OU by a much larger margin.
The pride and winning tradition of The University of Texas will not be entrusted to the weak or the timid.

Sucks bad...need both Okie schools to come through...
Damn I hate not only wanting one of them to win but both??? We just need to win out and get a BCS bid. If we get to the CCG great, I’d hate to play Mizzo again (really a home game for them, hear they have bought 60,000 tickets)
We're Texas...and you're NOT
When discussing our defense
realize that tech only scored 3 offensive touchdowns – defense played well enough to win
Defense
Considering they were on the field almost the entire first half and most of the game, and they had key injuries, I thought they played phenomenal. This one is on the offense. They gave Tech 9 points. I don’t necessarily blame GD, but the offense didn’t hold up their end of the bargain.
'Til Gabriel blows his horn...
True, but the two safety mistakes, three really, hurt in the end.
Two missed interceptions, Gideon (with replay), the other hit Thomas in the chest. Then on the game winning play, Thomas goes to the upside part of the field when he had no play on ball. His responsibility is to stay between receiver and goal. If he does that, he could have knocked Crabtree down or out of bounds.
But...
Curtis Brown had underneath responsibility with safety help over the top from the inside, but instead, he overran the play to the inside. He’s supposed to be guarding against the sideline.
Football gods....
they didnt let us win tonight:
-Did you ever see Cosby or Shipley drop a pass this season?
-0 holding on tech offense today….SHOCKING!!
-Colt overthrowing out route?
-Craptree selling his injury to his ankle after EVERY play
-took RAK away from us….
-Gideon…
my first born shall be named vy
WOW
that was one of the best games i have ever seen by tech. shitty first half by us, and give credit to tech, they came back to beat us.
But lets not forget, our boys, who fought and fought and fought and refused to go away no matter what. I love watchin them horns play. Hook’Em!
BTW, lets be classy and show blake gideon some support, he is only a freshman and is a good kid.

there was no excuse for not running the play clock and calling time out before tech's last offensive play
meanwhile mack brown thinks he’s smart for asking the ref’s whether a fair catch will move the clock or not…fucking idiot
i am pretty sure Gideon's dropped INT took air out of the team...
the D looked pretty lost after that play…
my first born shall be named vy
so our best case scenario has to happen with tech's next game....sigh
my first born shall be named vy
Tech played a great game
and drew us at the best possible time. I thought it was impossible to get through this stretch unscathed, and we didn’t. I’m proud of the effort and ready to get after the rest of the schedule. Really, really sucks though.
Disciplina Praesidium Civitatis.
On Gideon
He absolutely had the victory drop through his hands, but there were a lot of other missed plays that put us in the precarious position we were in. He’s a helluva player and I’m happy to have him.
Disciplina Praesidium Civitatis.
man
if you told me we would get through this 4 game schedule 3-1 i would have been pumped. but now its just a disappointment, for the fans and the team.
Now we are going to see what this team is made of, lets hope it doesn’t de-rail the rest of the season. MNC down the shitter, Big 12 champ game in REAL jeopardy, and a good portion of our impact players hurt. We will see what we are made of.

I think we've seen what they are made of
And it’s something to be proud of.

wait i dont understand
why is MNC down the shitter?
after watching tech tonight…do you think they can beat osu or ou?
my first born shall be named vy
they beat us.
and its not just tech who can jump us for the mnc, florida prolly will, OU is going to be higher in the polls despite us beating them (we lost late), and I don’t see penn state losing.
"There aint nothin' over till it's over. "
~Rocky Balboa
We need Florida to lose again. Or Tech, PSU, and Bama to all lose. Tech probably twice.
'Til Gabriel blows his horn...
after that awful first half
do you really want to go to orlando and play a team like florida? all be honest, florida scares the hell out of me.
"There aint nothin' over till it's over. "
~Rocky Balboa
i really dont get the TEch has no chance against OSU talk
Hello, they just beat us, the #1 team in the country. They have the Pokes at home. They have a great shot at winning that game. OU on road will be tall order, but it kinda diminshes what you think of our team if you think Tech is going to have ‘no chance’ at beating OU or OSU. WTF. Makes no sense
by Michael Bean on Nov 1, 2008 11:47 PM CDT up reply actions
here is why
we had pretty much all kinds of shit going against us and still couldnt pull it out…I highly doubt the same “luck” will apply to tech for the rest of the season
my first born shall be named vy
Anybody else notice the refs?
they killed our halftime drives and refused to call holding and a bunch of other shit. drove me insaine.
"There aint nothin' over till it's over. "
~Rocky Balboa
yeah
put it this way, gideon could have WON the game for us, but the team lost the game for us
or tech just came out and wanted it more than we did. whichever way you want to look at it. either way, there were a lot of missed opportunities for plays to be made. just sucks for gideon that his was the final missed opportunity, and therefore the most memorable.

curtis brown should have tackled crabtree. BUT, shoulda woulda coulda

well
unless curtis brown can take 5 seconds to tackle crabtree, we would have lost by 2 points at the hands of a field goal, most likely

I was the most upset with the clock management on our last drive. We could’ve easily run another 40 seconds off and only given them about 50 seconds. Huge difference.

I was just really upset with the no holds on the officiating.
by girlslikefootball2 on Nov 1, 2008 11:46 PM CDT reply actions
get over it already
we got the two biggest calls int he game in our favor. game wouldnt even have come down to the wire if we didnt get the BS PI call on Craptree. Serously, thats lame. Refs had very little to do with the loss. Probably helped us in a way. The quesitonable PI call on 3rd and 17 led to a TD for us plus the camera confirmed blown PI call when they had 1st and goal from the 10.
by Michael Bean on Nov 1, 2008 11:49 PM CDT up reply actions
Agreed
And on the last play, whoever was at the top of the screen had a choke-hold on our defender. (literally, a choke-hold)
But oh well, shit happens. That’s just the way it is and we’ve got to move past it.
by HornPossessed on Nov 1, 2008 11:50 PM CDT up reply actions
i don't like to complain about officiating either,
but they could have called holding at least once. why stop doing it if it’s effective and they’re not calling it?
Disciplina Praesidium Civitatis.
Are you insane?
How are you going to say that the refs helped us? Considering Tech’s OL were dryhumping the shit out of our DLINE, I think the whole " the refs helped us " line is complete bullshit.
waaaah
youre no better than tech and leach….pay closer attention
by Michael Bean on Nov 1, 2008 11:54 PM CDT up reply actions
they didnt call holding on either team, dude
what they did call were questionable PI calls..both went our way. and one led to 7 UT points on a drive that was about to be a punt and the other kept them from scoring 7 when they had 1st and goal. take ure homer glasses off and be more objective. refs were no part, really. even if there was an egregious non holding call or two, the PI calls made up for it
by Michael Bean on Nov 1, 2008 11:55 PM CDT up reply actions
Please no...
Lay off the officials. They had no impact on the game. Don’t be like Leach and Tech last year when they complained about how the officials always want Texas to win. Don’t stoop to the level of Tech. We’re Texas. We’re better than that.
'Til Gabriel blows his horn...
my only question is
was it a conscious decision by the Big XII to put their WORST officiating crew on the two biggest, most hyped games of the year (RRS and this one)? I mean, what happened happened, but this crew missed several calls in the RRS, and clearly missed a bunch more in this one.
maybe it's their "best" crew.
yikes
Disciplina Praesidium Civitatis.
If..
Leach doesn’t complain like the vagina that he is, they wouldn’t have sucked his weiner all goddamn game and called holding. When they showed Roy Miller getting hurt, a Tech OL had Kindle in a bulldog nelson. It’s kind of weird that Texas can get pressure ALL year and then get TWO sacks this game.
And I agree..
We are better than that. We didn’t show up whatsoever in the first half and that killed us. Although we got back in it, I think if we show up and score at least ONE touchdown in the first half we obviously win.
theres a reason we only got two
Hes only been sacked 1 heading into this game!!!!
think harder
by Michael Bean on Nov 1, 2008 11:57 PM CDT up reply actions
hahahah
ure not a very informed fan.
hey brother, go check how many sacks Tech has given up all year
i think
the officiating crew went into this with the mindset that they didn’t want to turn this into a whistlefest or have the game decided by penalties. Let the teams play, you know? I just think they took it a bit too far.
thats about right
and both defenses did some nice things, and both offenses had their moments. refs were no part of the game really
by Michael Bean on Nov 1, 2008 11:57 PM CDT up reply actions
Uninformed?
By all means do I not want to argue with a fellow fan. I know they’ve given up 3 sacks all year. But you have to admit at some times it was a bit rediculous. Hell, I think I’m still pissed about losing.
i am too :)
not trying to be mean..but we can point to colts shitty pick, the missed int by giddeon, the decision to not squib it after our last TD…a MILLION things..just not refs…cmon.

Shit, it’s just hard to own your competition like we have under Mack Brown year in and year out. Teams are gonna get you from time to time, esp on their home turf. This was a resilient comeback from a young team. Win out and it’ll be an amazing regular season.
Considering how much i personally hate the BCS, i’d prefer it if we have a couple of undefeated teams in the title game like we did in 05. If that means, Tech, so be it. You might ask, well why not root for chaos if you hate the BCS? Cus it aint going anywhere anytime soon, so might as well have a legit title game. REALLY REALLY REALLY dont want to see Florida sneak in there with 1 loss, and yall all agree that theyd get the nod over us dont u?

Its hard to break habits and patterns. I’m so used to Tech throwing for 500 yards a game, beating every I-AA team on their schedule, getting national love, then going 9-3 after losing to Texas, OU, and someone they should beat. So because that’s the history, its hard for me to change my mind after one game. If they beat OSU and OU then I’ll believe.

All I know is I’m going to be an OSU and OU fan ( makes me sicker than losing ) the next two weeks. Haha, although I do move into my first house on Dec. 1st and what a house warming present would it be to watch the Big 12 Championship game from the new house.

Most likely scenario
PSU wins out.
Florida loses to SC, FSU, or Vandy.
Florida beats Bama in SEC champ.
Tech loses to OSU and OU.
We beat Mizzou again, and play Penn St.
'Til Gabriel blows his horn...
unfortunately
i think even if we win out and beat mizzou in big XII champ, florida beating bama in SEC champ would get the nod to play PSU (if undefeated) in national championship.
so i think we will play florida or bama in MNC if we get to go.
Scenario A
PSU loses to michigan state or iowa
bama loses to florida in SEC championship
we win out and beat mizzou in big XII championship
media does not kiss USC’s ass
MNC: texas v. florida
Scenario B
PSU loses to michigan state or iowa
bama beats florida in SEC championship
we win out and beat mizzou in big XII championship
media does not kiss USC’s ass
MNC: texas v. bama

OSU vs. OU
What would REALLY be nice is if the Pokes could beat OU. Then, even in the event of a 3 way tie, I think we could sneak in to the tile game. But I honestly dont see Tech losing to OSU. Def in Norman. But if the Pokes followed that up with a win over the Sooners, perhaps their BCS ranking would be lower than ours, and I wouldnt be surprised if OU wins by 14+ over Tech, which could bump them back into the 7-11 range in the BCS behind us.
err
actally nevermind..that doesnt make any sense, cus that would just leave two 1 loss teams – us and tech
GODDDD
I hate Mike Leach. He reminds me of a big fuckin bird. Douchebag.

I guess I defnded my allegiance because I just dont feel the same hate for Tech as I do for OU or the faggies.
