but, the computers, I think, will show we didn’t bring our a-game and it ended on the last play of the game. Florida has been playing sick not to move up to 3rd after the Georgia win. Alabama will lose in the SEC Championship or to LSU…OU will get jumped by us if we make it to the Big XII Championship…Penn State still has to play Iowa and Michigan State, and we all know Tech’s schedule.

Keep in mind...

This one stings. I think losing Tech is worse than losing to anyone except aggy, however, and I know things changed Oct. 11th, but we still came into this year thinking this would be a building block to 09, and as Possessed mentioned, we did grow this game, as much as it hurts. Malcolm Williams became a man. Gideon will probably play with more dedication than ever, so will the young WRs who dropped ball after ball, Colt fought and fought, and the whole team played as bad as could be expected, and still almost came out on top. This could be like the OU game in 04. Fight, and just come up short only to springboard to a BCS Bowl and an MNC the next year.

I’m not giving up on this year. Just trying to keep things in perspective. If before the year someone said we’d be 8-1 after the Tech game I think we’d all have jumped on that.

Great game. Lots to go. Hook ’em.

by HornsRiverine on Nov 1, 2008 11:11 PM CDT reply actions

thats not correct

just looked it up:

Combined head-to-head record among teams.
Records of the tied teams within the division.
Head-to-head competition versus the team within the division with the best overall (divisional or conference) record, and proceeding through the division.

by Michael Bean on Nov 1, 2008 11:15 PM CDT up reply actions

In this case it's true

Because all 3 teams (be it us, Tech and OU or OSU) will have identical conference and division records, the BCS ranking will be key. Assuming Tech loses at least one, they’ll probably be hurt the most in the BCS rankings. Logic dictates that our insane schedule plus 6 point road loss and head to head against OU and OSU will keep us far enough ahead to warrant the higher ranking.

   1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other

   3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of fi nish (4, 5 and 6)
   4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents;
   5. The highest ranked team in the fi rst Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative

True, but the two safety mistakes, three really, hurt in the end.

Two missed interceptions, Gideon (with replay), the other hit Thomas in the chest. Then on the game winning play, Thomas goes to the upside part of the field when he had no play on ball. His responsibility is to stay between receiver and goal. If he does that, he could have knocked Crabtree down or out of bounds.

I was the most upset with the clock management on our last drive. We could’ve easily run another 40 seconds off and only given them about 50 seconds. Huge difference.

get over it already

we got the two biggest calls int he game in our favor. game wouldnt even have come down to the wire if we didnt get the BS PI call on Craptree. Serously, thats lame. Refs had very little to do with the loss. Probably helped us in a way. The quesitonable PI call on 3rd and 17 led to a TD for us plus the camera confirmed blown PI call when they had 1st and goal from the 10.

they didnt call holding on either team, dude

what they did call were questionable PI calls..both went our way. and one led to 7 UT points on a drive that was about to be a punt and the other kept them from scoring 7 when they had 1st and goal. take ure homer glasses off and be more objective. refs were no part, really. even if there was an egregious non holding call or two, the PI calls made up for it

my only question is

was it a conscious decision by the Big XII to put their WORST officiating crew on the two biggest, most hyped games of the year (RRS and this one)? I mean, what happened happened, but this crew missed several calls in the RRS, and clearly missed a bunch more in this one.

If..

Leach doesn’t complain like the vagina that he is, they wouldn’t have sucked his weiner all goddamn game and called holding. When they showed Roy Miller getting hurt, a Tech OL had Kindle in a bulldog nelson. It’s kind of weird that Texas can get pressure ALL year and then get TWO sacks this game.

i think even if we win out and beat mizzou in big XII champ, florida beating bama in SEC champ would get the nod to play PSU (if undefeated) in national championship.

so i think we will play florida or bama in MNC if we get to go.
Scenario A
PSU loses to michigan state or iowa
bama loses to florida in SEC championship
we win out and beat mizzou in big XII championship
media does not kiss USC’s ass
MNC: texas v. florida

Scenario B
PSU loses to michigan state or iowa

OSU vs. OU

What would REALLY be nice is if the Pokes could beat OU. Then, even in the event of a 3 way tie, I think we could sneak in to the tile game. But I honestly dont see Tech losing to OSU. Def in Norman. But if the Pokes followed that up with a win over the Sooners, perhaps their BCS ranking would be lower than ours, and I wouldnt be surprised if OU wins by 14+ over Tech, which could bump them back into the 7-11 range in the BCS behind us.

im a touch worried about him

he is my brother after all. i talked to him earlier. know how bad he wanted this one and how close it was. makes it really hard to write about a game like this (i write for steelers for sbn and i had to deal with heart break hotel this past week when they melted down against sb champ giants late). on one hand, plenty to bitch about, on other hand, gritty tough effort from fairly young team. sux for him especially because its tough to take a stance here. but im sure he’ll do well
