I don't know what bothers me more.
We got our asses handed us tonight. Our defense crumbled from fatigue and there were numerous penalties and mistakes (critical drops and etc) that sealed our fate in Lubbock, Texas.
Yet I don't know what bothers me more: The fact that we came back and almost won until Gideon dropped a featherball or the fact that we played like sh*t while Tech brought their A-game.Granted we played poorly and that mistake alone was not the sole determinate of our loss, I'm distraught by the very fact that it was dropped-- because it ended our streak.
Yes, I know Gideon is a freshman safety and was solid all-through-out the year, but I must say I'm not a big fan of him or Collins at the moment. And it shall be so just for the next 24 hours.
I really, really wanted to see those jokers cry themselves to sleep. Alas, not this year; that duty will be left to OU and OSU. Though it disgusts me to say but I'll be rooting for them from here on out.
Oh well, at worst we'll have a solid BCS bid and a great run next year from the mistakes we learned this year. I suppose this is a bit like what the Patriots, USC , and Michigan endured in the past. In any case, I'm extremely proud of our overachieving young team despite the lack of respect from the media.
Hook 'Em
We shall have our way next season.

Disagree.... partly
I think we got our ass handed to us in the 1st half. We just didn’t show up. And they just got EVERY break. And while the open thread pointed out that we got 2-3 pretty big calls our way, they had a TON of no calls holding our D-line.
The point is they needed us to play one of the worst halves of football ever, a ton of breaks with no calls and dropped balls, 3 key injuries on our side, and some luck (Gideon’s drop) to win with one second on the clock… at home….and us in the 4th game of maybe the toughest stretch of schedule in the History of the conference!
I am heart-broken b/c I thought we could have won that game, but I have my head up about this team, and this season! Hook’em the rest of the way and we will see what happens.

Lets show some class to Gideon
he has been a good played and a good kid, and even the best football players make mistakes.
Blake, SHORT MEMORY. learn from it and move on.

Absolutely.
Without him we wouldn’t be where we are now, and afterall, he is just an in-experienced freshmen. But it was still quite a gut-wrencher. I felt and still feel as if someone ripped out my heart after seeing that replay. Just stating what I thought of it.

That dropped interception completely killed me on the inside there. At first I cheered because I hadn’t seen the ball drop from his hands. I was extremely pissed off about that drop. We should have called fair catch on the next drive too but instead we tried to lateral everything and lost it.
For about 3 seconds after that play, I felt what it was like to win the game. Then I saw the replay, and it all went away with the ref’s “pass incomplete” call.
I stood there dumbfounded and reached for another beer. I guess this is what USC must’ve felt on that glorious night

What bothers me more?
What bothers me more is that there wasn’t someone (coaching) on the last Texas drive letting Colt in on the fact that he was snapping the ball with over 15 seconds left on the play clock MULTIPLE TIMES.
I mean don’t we all joke about “Who’s gonna win the game? The team that has the ball last!” How could we NOT know we were leaving too much time on the clock. Look at the scoring play alone, he snapped it with 21 seconds left on the play clock….
Was anyone else yelling at the TV when this was happening!?
I was
I was screaming this too. He also ran out of bounds on his run to the left. On the flipside, Mike Leach’s clock management really sucked. If Crabtree struggles there and Earl Thomas actually helps out…he runs out of time and we’re talking about how he lost the game by poor clock management.
I hate to rationalize like this but I didn’t see this team as good as the 2005 team. That isn’t to say that they couldn’t have won it all but they just have more holes. It gives hope for the future that we have a lot of promising underclassmen.
The team showed composure against a team that was on pace to blow us out on national TV. As much as it hurts, you don’t want to be outclassed on the field in front of a national audience. That shows that you never belonged in the first place.
Earl Thomas
Please tell me he fell down or something. They’re saying that Crabtree was doubled at the end, but Thomas didn’t do jack shit to help Brown. It looked like he actually slowed down at the end for whatever reason. He gave up on the play and probably assumed Brown would take him down.
And why would he go towards the front side of the play instead of going behind it, so he’d be between Crabtree and the endzone? if he went behind the play, he’d be able to get Crabtree right after he escaped Brown. Then the game probably would’ve been over if he got the tackle.
Colt snapping the ball early the the play clock is just epic fail on so many levels. On him, and the coaching. The reason we beat them last year was we controlled the clock. How do we forget the most important key to beating Tech when it counted in the 4th quarter?

Thomas took a TERRIBLE angle on that play
and I think in hindsight that long Fozzy run left too much time on the clock. Or at least Vondrell could’ve went down at the 1 to chew up some clock although that would’ve been extremely jerky. And the one time we needed a kick to go into the endzone it didn’t…so a lot of little things added up to a Tech win.
Right. There were so many penalties and drops that had us screaming profanities. But I think that drop was especially note-worthy because many of thought we’d won.
I’m still quite bummed.

If Graham Harrell's whiny ass wins the Heisman...
I might just have to stop watching college football.

When they asked him for a comment. I have no f#@$ing idea what he said. The boy needs to learn how to talk

I'll translate for you...
blah, blah, blah….I’m so excited….blah blah blah…Crab is the best….blah, blah, blah…we won. What can I say…we’re all (Tech fans) new at this. I hope he gets a lot more practice on after winning game interviews! We have to get past a really good OSU team first.
I would recommend him a speech class for a change.
His Texan Twang is unbearable. He makes Mack Brown sound like an anchor off CNN
