Kansas Game concern?

Is it just me, but I getting a little concerned that know is somewhat worried about the upcoming Knasas game. I was at the game in 2004 when we favored by a ton and escaped with our lives. This ku team can score and would love to wreck our season. Our last visit into that state eneded our season dreadfully in 2006. I think this game will be very hard for us to win (the weather will be cold, senior day, the 2004 game, magino eating all of our food).  Can someone prove this otherwise?

Todd Reesing is from Austin--

and some fans up here claim he doesn’t do well in cold weather. Which, if true will even things out a lot—it’d be hard to over state how important Reesing is to KU’s offense.

Under no circumstances should be under estimate the KU team just coz their defense isnt performing as well. I am worried for the last 2 games and hope that everything goes to plan and we come out successful.

Home advantage, Extra motivation for seniors who have their last home game, weather, our team being physically beat up, motivation to beat # 3 team etc all work against us. I am scared like hell about this game coz if we are nor perfect we are screwed…

what has me worried

is that we saw some flashes of 2007 longhorns against baylor. the play calling was easily predictable, and colt was taking some hellacious shots. IMO, greg davis has lost some of his luster and creativity that i saw during our gauntlet. i pray that the horns get healthy and come out hitting on all cylinders

I would be more worried about....

Texas A&M. Their young talent is starting to show signs of life even in a drubbing by OU. They always seem to play their best football on the last day of the season.

Except....

… Johnson looked human and got replaced by {{urgh}} Stephen McGee the rest of the way.

I’ll be more worried about the Aggies next year in B/CS. Horns have revenge on their minds this year. Expect ferocity.

Still a Blaine Irby fan

revenge?

I thought they would have revenge ontheir minds last year too. texas better get ready for a battle the next two games.

i believe...

mack forced that thought OUT of their heads. I remember many people saying, that this is NOT a revenge game, but I hope they (UT staff) can allow the memories to be remembered and I hope they lay a whooping on Mcgee or Johnson..

Next Game

The next game always scares me the most. I am deathly afraid of our guys overlooking Kansas. They’ll be ready to play us, and they have a decent offense and a tremendous (maybe desperate) need for a “get well” game. I don’t want them getting well on us.

I dont think they will over look it,they (Texas team) know what is going on with the rankings and that we need to win out for a shot at anything. They made it through one of the hardest schedules ever and I think they will keep it going.

Roy Miller's bulletin board material

Miller’s comments give them something to focus on and work for this week. Any thought of the rolling over for us is wishful thinking. Kansas can be a dangerous team and will be looking to get it’s pride back.

Nebraska was able to run all over them during the parts of the game that I saw, while KU’s running game didn’t look that great. Hopefully we’ll be able to use this to our advantage.

Horns a bad road team this year

Utep-sluggish, turnovers, slow start
CU-sluggish, slow start
Tech-turnovers, slow start

avg margin of score at home: +29 pts
avg margin of score on road (OU not included): +15 pts

We have really enjoyed homefield this season and based on this years trends, expect a tough road game. very losable.

If at CU you define sluggish as

65 yard TD play on like the third play from scrimmage, sure.

Meier

Bottle up Kerry Meier and you should very little problem with KU. Dezmon Briscoe is the game breaker at WR, but Meier is the guy who keeps those drives alive on third down.

Yeah

Kansas can sting you in other areas, but where they win games is the Reesing/Meier/Briscoe connection. The Jayhawk running game is underrated, but that’s not saying much because most people give them zero credit in this area. Take away Reesing’s two favorite targets and you can set yourself up for a big win.

Did you see the hit he took in the Nebraska game?

Came around on a bootleg and took a solid shot from a linebacker/safety who was running at close to top speed, knocked him back about 7 yards but didn’t knock him down, he regrouped and threw a TD pass. Pretty impressive. If they’d won the game that play would have made all the highlight shows.

I did, in fact

You can’t keep an elf from working his dark magic (we have one too, <3 Eric Morris), but you can limit the damage. I think you defensive front can get good pressure on Reesing, and if you can follow up on that with lockdown coverage of Briscoe and Meier, you’ve got your recipe for success. Putting Reesing in a position where he has to pull crazy shit like that every single offensive series is how you win.
