Colin Heard Backs Horns - Voice of Reason
I am in SoCal this week and I picked up the morning edition of in the Herd. It is the hour or so before he goes national with ESPN.
Colin, who is more football savvy than most talking heads said that if Texas, TT, and Oklahoma end up in a 3 way tie - the Horns are the logical, and deserved higher ranked BCS team. His logic on the round robin of games played by the Big 3:
- Texas Tech would have defended its home field - and lost on the road.
- Oklahoma would have defended its home field and lost at a neutral site.
- Texas would have beat the Sooners by 10 on a neutral site - and come within one second of beating the Red Raiders on the road.
Makes sense - keep promoting the Horns Colin!

The other thing
that almost everyone is forgetting is that we played Mizzou this year and neither Tech nor OU play them.

I think if Colin Cowherd thinks your team deserves to go

I think if you think your team deserves to go
in a three-way tiebreaker, then you are wrong.

I really don't give a shit what you think, though.

I don't care about what Tech fans think either..
That’s why I am constantly commenting on Double T Nation. Wait. Oops. That’s you commenting here. Sorry.

My friend runs this website.
I read it a lot because of that.
I do care what he thinks. I sometimes care what you think. I don’t care what Horn Brain thinks.

I'm pretty sure it was a joke
Horn Brain. From what I’ve read from Skin Patrol, he seems to be pretty clear headed and has never made any “antiswarm-like” comments. I think this got blown way out of proportion.

but I don’t see the bad intent from HB.

careful where you place your trust
I also caught some of the Cowherd show this morning. While I did not hear him explain his reasoning in the manner relayed above (which of course does make perfect sense), I did hear him respond to a Tech fan/caller with the following rationale as to why Texas is the superior team:
“Texas played 7 straight bowl games and only lost in the last second of the last one.”
He then started listing Arkansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and then droned off. Forget for a moment that the stretch from AR to TT is only 6 games. Giving the Horns sizable credit for beating the Hogs and the Buffs and referring to those teams as “Bowl Teams” is absurd and shows a lack of understanding of the current college football landscape beyond the top 25. For me, it honestly undermined Colin Cowherd’s credibility on the matter. I doubt either of them gets to six wins in reality.
My point: There are many reasons a case can and should be made for Texas to be voted in front of OU and Tech in the polls in the event of a three-way tie in records. Beating mediocre-at-best teams like the piggies and the fightin Darrell Scotts is not one of them. Cowherd predicated some of his argument this way and everything else he said became white noise because of it.
