Dominating win
I'm a bit exasperated that our offense wasn't as sharp as I would have liked, because we definitely should have posted at least forty points on this Kansas team. Some dropped balls and that numskull botched snap killed some drives. However, I was happy with the game overall and the defense was awesome. If not for an incredible catch by Briscoe, this is a shutout.
The only thing I worry about are the style points. Stupid voters will look at the score and think, "Well, they only won by 28 and Tech won by 42," or something like that. A shutout against a good Kansas offense at their place would have been sweet, but you have to give props to Briscoe on that play. That was just sick.
We didn't score at all in the fourth quarter as we clearly put on the breaks. We just have to live with that. We all like Mack for being classy, so we have to accept it when he decides not to humiliate the other team.
I hope the voters actually, you know, watched the game. Our offense could have been crisper at times, but our defense came out and hit hard and made Reesing very uncomfortable all day. Kind of a slow game, honestly... within the first few minutes, it was clear we were going to win. It became a matter of how we were going to win. All things considered, it was a very impressive performance, especially with the injuries we're dealing with. I hope Gideon is okay.
This team is good enough to win a national championship. Unfortunate we may not get that chance.

Meh
I’ll chime in with my take in a bit, but that’s a pretty conservative take of what just happened.
I think this was exactly what we needed. 35-7, on the road, is outstanding.

Haha, you're right
I’m just being greedy. I just have to remind myself how ridiculous it is to scream at your players for penalties when you’re cruising 35-7.
The defense was awesome. Holding a potent Kansas offense to seven points, points they got basically got because of a ridiculous catch, should open anyone eyes.

I agree with Elusive to a point
We needed to really put the screws to them b/c the majority of the voters probably didn’t watch the game. Their gonna do their half ass “research” and see how many points ou put up and compare it to ours.
I think it’s more of my lack of confidence in the voters rather than my feelings about the game which was an outstanding effort.

OU only won by 14 over KU, 45-31. 35-7 is seriously better. nt

agree completely, whills...
we aren’t competing with tech’s winning margin, only OU’s. and we doubled their differential, on the road whereas the sooners were at home.

Muschamp had the boys fired up
Really proud to see them not allow a score in gafbage time. 35 – 7 looks a lot better than 35 – 14. It also is more indicative of the overall game.

OMG yes
I unfortunately only caught Kansas’s last possession of the game, and the defense was on fire. Chykie batted down balls, our line and LBs got to Reesing… it was just awesome to see one of those hilarious 4+ down series in the redzone (a la UTEP) and the defense and Will still getting so fired up. This was again the definition of bend but don’t break. We did have almost 120 more yards, but even still, 305 yards for Kansas and only 1 touchdown?
I’m beginning to think that “Bend but don’t break” means “So-so open-field defense, incredible redzone defense”.

That late stand by the defense
And, from the looks of it, mostly second team defenders, might prove incredibly valuable in the polls.

When neutral voters
who didn’t see this game - and don’t see many others because they’re covering a game somewhere else, or travelling - try to break the presumptive three-way tie in the Big 12 South, they’ll look at (1) head to head play; (2) which team closed on a hot streak; (3) who was most impressive in games against common opponents; (4) overall strength of schedule.
Texas may win the latter (but TCU and Cincinnati success could swing that to OU), will win No. 1 if TT-OU is a 1-TD or less Sooner win, cannot win No. 2 because that’ll be Oklahoma, probably cannot win No. 3 given the piles of points OU and TT put up.
OU’s early loss will be held against them less than Tech’s late loss. Oklahoma’s huge points totals will turn heads. TV mentioning Horns missing Big 12 title game while two teams they beat, OU and Missouri, play looks all too likely. Same thing happened two years ago — Horns won in Dallas, won in Lincoln, missed out on title game.
