BCS Standing 11.16.08 - Texas stays at #3

just announced on Fox.

Texas stays at #3 with rating of .891

Florida #4.

OU at #5 with a rating of .838

Link to follow.

This is good news. Our margin is pretty narrow, but holding strong.  Florida will most assuredly jump us with a win in the SEC championship game, but not before then.  Which means they continue to serve as a buffer between us and OU.  Only the human voters will be able to vault OU ahead of us it appears at this point.

Computers?

I can’t seem to find a link to see what the computers did this week. Anyone know where to find one? EPSN’s is not updated yet.

From a quick glance at the entire standings, we widened our gap over OU considerably this week, while maintaining the same lead over Florida as last week. Florida widened it’s gap with OU as well.

Next week is when all of this really gets decided.

Thanks for the original post and link to the overall BCS standings.

I disagree with the help

I think the SEC title game is irrelevant for now. The key is to get to the Big XII title game and barring an uninspiring game next week, I don’t see it. If Tech wins, Tech goes (regardless of Baylor). If Oklahoma wins (particularly by more than 14), I think there will be a groundswell for one of the best offenses in the nation playing at its peak right now with a tough game remaining versus Oklahoma State. Again, I just don’t see a lot of scenarios for the Horns right now regarding the Big XII title game.

The point is that EVERYTHING changes next week and an Oklahoma win will propel them dramatically. Remember that a last second win at home for Texas Tech who had played nobody up to that time moved them up about 8 places in the computers. It’s going to be a huge effect.

to that end (next Saturday's game)

Weather does not look promising for what I’d hoped would be a 20-16 kind of wind-impacted or soggy slopfest. Weather for Saturday is 45 low, 66 high, 30% chance of rain (some hope there).
