FUTURE HEAD COACH....$900k/YR BEGINNING 1/1/2009...WOW!

Build the program from withing. Deloss Dodd’s and MB want this guy bad and he wants UT. He will be our new head coach. Attempt to offset raiding our staff.

Excellent

future and transition plans for the Horns. Hopefully MB will be around for many more years before the takeover though. Gotta love the top of the line talent and continuity of this that the program has. You heard it here first, 2008-2020 will be the decade (+2) of the Longhorn.

On Mack -

“He will be on contract as defensive coordinator, until Mack decides he doesnt want to coach anymore, then he will be on a 5 year contract as head coach.” -Deloss

Theres an option in Mack’s contract that he can stop coaching whenever he wants, and he will have a $500k position in athletics.

Mack

“It works because Will wanted to stay, his wife wanted to stay, and we wanted him to stay. Will is young and he wanted to stay and he is in no rush to be the head coach of Texas. He is happy to be the defensive coordinator for a while, and until I am unhappy with the job Im doing as head coach, he will be the defensive coordinator.” – Mack (paraphrased)

“hes not a guy that wants my job, hes not a guy that will look over my shoulder, it works because of his integrety and class, and in time he will be a great coach, right now he needs to get the defense ready for the Aggies.” -Mack

Will

"Its an exciting day for me and my family, and Im very happy with the confidence that (everyone at UT) has in me. This is the greatest job in the country, and I dont want to go anywhere. When you get here you realize how special a place this is with all the resources (etc etc). Tradition (etc etc). This is a special place. I love coaching, the interaction day to day with the players. I want to be a head coach and Ive been waiting for the right opportunity, and this is the best job in the country.

I love austin, my family loves austin, and this presents a very high quality of living for my family. It was a no-brainer decision when Coach Brown approached me with the opportunity." _Will (very paraphrashed, sorry I dont type fast enough to transcript)
