I'm so proud of this team

i know it's been said but what the hell, it needs to be said again.

let's show some damn support for our team right now.  it's easy to be a fan when your team is winning, it's a little harder when they lose.

yes, blake should have ended the game with that interception, yes, we should have stopped that last touchdown, yes, we should have controlled the clock better on our last possession...there's a million more things that would have allowed us to win this game, but they didn't happen so let's just let it go.  this one hurts, badly, i know.  but the season ain't over yet.

this team has earned our support, but i dont think we are really showing as much as they deserve.  and this is when they're gonna need it the most.  the way they came back makes me so damn proud...man i freaking love this team.

congrats tech...HOOK 'EM ya'll!!

I know man...

There just isn’t a better feeling than being a longhorn. It’s the best.

Agreed

This team is actually my favorite over that 2005 team, no matter what happens. It’s like the ‘little team that could’ and they just keep on playing their hearts out.

Win or lose, it’s a great time to be a Longhorn.

couldn't agree more with

Y’all have a lot to be proud of, even with a blip on the record. This game could easily have gotten out of hand in the second half and quite the opposite happened. That’s the players you have and the coaches you have and the support you provide. Chin up, boys, lots to smile about tomorrow.

Agreed

I can’t disagree. This had blowout written all over it but our boys came back and had it almost won. Hats off to Tech.

While I like the defensive line on this team better than the 2005 group, that team went 5 deep with premier DBs and had great mike play.

The offensive line on this team isn’t as cohesive as that group was. We have no TE on this team and we had Dave Thomas then. The HUGE difference though is that we can’t run the ball this year and that needs to change.

I can’t hate the team,…they’re kids. They’ve shown incredible composure this year against OU, OSU and last night. Tech was just the better team.

Thanks for posting this

It’s kinda inevitable that I have to focus on talking about the why part of losing, but it’s good to see a post about what this team has done so far. They earned it with 8-0, and earned it by fighting back tonight.

Tech made the plays to win it, but Texas fought for it. If we learn and grow from it, which I think we will, it could be That Game these kids point to as the one that launched things forward even higher.

Let’s get after it. Hook ’em.

Kinda like last year...
If we learn and grow from it, which I think we will, it could be That Game these kids point to as the one that launched things forward even higher.

After the regular season loss to ATM, we learned and played a memorable game vs. ASU “Ruuuuudyyyyyy. Ruuuuudyyyyyy.”, which has led us well into this year (which so far has been better than any of us were predicting this last summer).

Look at Florida...

What did Florida do to Georgia this weekend??? Do you think they use that loss to Miss to elevate their play…good point, and we’ll see how UT responds. Good run by the way, that was impressive, and I feel lucky to have pulled out the “big” win in Lubbock. Great game…

Good game

Watching last nights game shows how much heart the ’Horns have. Everyones right, its hard to watch your team lose, but on the other hand it was uplifting to see UT come out in the 2nd half and settle down into the team they are.
Way to go Longhorns, and thanks for giving us a truly good game, and showing us what kind of hearts you have out on the field.

i agree man...

i mean did anyone really expect this to happen this year? no way, i have never been so impressed with a texas team in defeat as as was last night, i feel bad for our secondary, mostly gideon and curtis brown. they are just young kids and they will get plenty of oppurtunities to prove themselves in the future. we lost to a GOOD team… Florida lost to ole miss, who yes is where i go to school, but lets face it, they are nowhere near the red raiders. usc lost to Oregon State…. so many of these one loss teams have lost to unranked teams, we lost to a damn good football team. also, if you read PB’s post on our road to miami or KC,http://www.burntorangenation.com/2008/11/2/651801/the-new-stakes-texas-road , you will realize that its no where close to being over. our team needs every texas fan to be on there side right now and not griping about mack brown or greg davis or any of the classic things most of us revert back to in a loss. so for the rest of the season we need to COME EARLY, BE LOUD, STAY LATE, AND WEAR ORANGE……

ps its 1035am and OU still sucks

Incredible Game

I agree with nearly everything that has been noted…and yup – it took me awhile to be able to get on this site after the game. It was one of the most incredible, exhilerating, best games I’ve ever seen…personally I put it up there with the VY National Championship, maybe even better…

This years edition of the Longhorns were supposed to be better next year! Don’t forget they still have a season to finish here, and even with the results on Saturday night, who knows, we still have a team that can still do some damage at the end of the season. And…Tech has to deal with their own gauntlet now – can they match what we did?

by Veeks! on Nov 3, 2008 9:05 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

I think it is very possible...

“Tech has to deal with their own gauntlet now – can they match what we did?”

Thank God we have OSU at home…this will help, but not an easy game…As for OU in Norman, all I can hope for is that we shred that secondary, and keep the defensive intensity that we had against y’all in the first half. One “H” of a road ahead, but I think it is entirely possible…

You Horns should be proud...

Of the way your team fought. SO HARD!! We came out on top, but only b/c we have an immortal at wide out that made a great play for us. He drops that…..game over.

So proud of our players

I just wish Greg Davis had tried to throw the ball down the field more (er, at all) in the first half and given us a chance to win. How many three and outs did we have? How many short passes didn’t connect? How many runs were stuffed? They knew we were going to try to go 6 yards at a time down the field and defended it perfectly. While our OL got heat (and deservedly so at first) if nothing’s open for Colt to throw to/run toward they can’t hold those blocks forever. I blame Greg Davis for not making Tech defend the entire field, like they did to us. Also, again, Jesus, why isn’t Fozzy playing throughout the game? If he’s our fastest back and our system is speed-based spread, why is he on the bench? If he was hurt at the start of the season and we’re still sacred of injury, then to hell with it, apply for a medical red shirt and don’t burn this year…but don’t just play him two snaps a game. Such a waste. Anyway, so proud of all of our players for hanging in there.

However, I’d LOVE for Duane Akina to teach our DB’s how to tackle. Not to just duck down, or turn your back in trying to shoulder someone, not just trying to shove them toward the sideline…but an honest to god TACKLE! I can see our young guys not getting it at first..but there’s not excuse at this point in the season. And I blame their coach, Duane “Couldn’t keep my DC job” Akina for that. Oh, and while Duane is at it, could he please explain to Earl Thomas (who I really think is good and will be great) that when you are coming over to help double Michael Crabtree, of all people, that you need to put yourself in between him and the endzone…not just job behind the play out of bounds. What was that, Earl? Oh, and our young receivers and DB’s could also do great with a few more tip drills and some quality time with the hug machine.

But again, I don’t want to sound negative, because for all the slow reactions by the coaches and our youth, we played good overall.

This loss sucks

But I still love this team. They’ve made us all proud.

I am....

….incredibly proud of this team. Will Muschamp’s introduction of intensity, high expectations and accountability has raised the bar on both sides of the ball.

Everything after the big OU victory was pure gravy. I’ve never seen a Mack Brown gameplan so well designed and executed. That includes the ’06 Rose Bowl.

With that said, we still have a lot of work to do in the way of developing a defensive backfield and an offensive line for the 2009 season. The youth and lack of experience is still a problem.

I’m still get the chuckles when I think how many people here attacked me, prior to season’s start, for pointing out the problem of having a young, inexperienced D-Backfield.

HOOK EM - Beat Baylor

It is great to read these posts and salve the wounds of Jones AT&T Stadium. Sharing in grief is a powerful healer.

We should be proud of this team, and everyone needs to stay on board and get to DKR for an early kick on Saturday. We have 3 big games to win and a team that is pretty banged up.

we're guna kill baylor

I had noted this as a possible trap game before the tech loss but now I expect our horns to be as fired up as ever and this could possibly go down in the books as a 60 point win for us.

School songs

The sad thing is…I always thought UT had some class but during the TTU school song your fans made lots of noise…during the UT school song, our fans were quiet and respected you. Classless clowns we might be but we still show respect!

Wait Just a Second

Lets not even talk about some drunk frat boy pushing Colt McCoy just because, “hey Heisman wus up now? "WESTSIIIIIDE”….(throws up deuces, keepin it reel, yo!)…..yeah you were excited and you should be but for crying out loud act like you’ve been there before! I know you dont speak for the masses anymore than you could associate me with a crime spree commited by a guy wearing a Texas hat but seriously now….seriously………the level at which the TTU fans took it at the end doesn’t even compare. That garbage was out of hand and it was Busch League.
