Destinee = Colt = Cat?
There is no doubt that she is a very special athlete. She plays really well at home against Nebraska for some reason, and it’s a positive for us. It was a pleasure to watch that game, but my concern became that we were going to rely on her too much, and that’s what happened in game two. We really lost focus of our balance when our freshman setter saw it working so well, and kept going to her. We’ve got too many good players and Nebraska is way too good of a team and makes too many good adjustments to be able to live off of one player.
She’s just a very special athlete that comes around very rarely. Being a part of the program at Texas, you sometimes are gifted like that – you get the Vince Youngs, the Colt McCoys, the Cat Ostermans. You get that a little more often at a university that supports its women athletes so well. She’s breathtaking, and she was a huge player in tonight’s match.
Breathtaking, indeed. 24 kills, 17 digs and 2 blocks. This would be an amazing stat line in the previous era of 30-point games, or maybe even in a 5-game match this year, but it’s absolutely stellar in a 4 games to 25. There’s no doubt Hooker will be the Offensive Player of the Week in the Big XII, but will also garner national honors as well.

I love Destinee...
..she’s always reminded of the VY of Texas volleyball. She does best in pressure situations just like VY. I hope the girls can keep the momentum going into the NCAA’s

I was at the game
Destinee was amazing. I don’t know much about the technical aspects of volleyball, but I can tell if a player is on fire.
Some girls had some hiccups this match, but Hooker had some key kills to either stop Nebraska’s momentum or to generate our own. I’m a football and basketball fan through and through, but her and the team’s performance last night made me proud.

Good man TES!
You need to be sure to show up for the 1st four rounds of the NCAA tournament to support the Gazelles. This year I think we actually have a good chance to advance beyond the Elite Eight (where we’ve crashed out the past 2 years) as long as we get a #1 seed. That of coruse is predicated on us winning our last 3 matches.

nice
I was going to follow the game on gametracker, but I lost my internets. This is a good sign. Hopefully this will lead to a big run in the tournament.

Huskers lineup takes a huge hit
A three-year starter at middle blocker, Cooper suffered the injury in the fourth set of last night’s match at Texas. She has appeared in all 27 matches for the Huskers, averaging 2.09 kills and 0.88 blocks per set. Cooper is second in the Big 12 with a .396 hitting percentage, a total which would rank ninth on Nebraska’s all-time single-season list.
"Losing Brooke Delano (who underwent surgery last week) and Kori basically in a week hurts our depth," Cook said.
Texas suffered a similar loss three years ago when Brandy Magee tore her ACL in the season-opening AVCA tournament up in Madison. The Gazelles could easily have been a Final Four team that year had she stayed healthy. The Huskers’ chances in the post-season are slim. Let’s hope both Texas and Nebraska get 1 seeds so we both have a chance to make a deep run.
