New BCS Scenario?

Austin-American Statesman is reporting that there is an outside chance that 3...that's right  3...Big 12 teams could end up playing in a BCS game.  Although, this scenario seems like a longshot, there is the possiblity that this wil happen.  Especially, with the Big XII title game being in KC.  Basically, a Mizzou home game. Can you imagine the fallout if this actually happens?

Only way this happens...

Tech beats OU but loses to Mizzou, leaving Tech at 12-1 and Texas at 11-1.

Alabama loses to Auburn AND Florida loses to FSU AND Florida beats Alabama.

USC loses another game.

And, probably, Penn State loses to Michigan State.

I wouldn’t count on it.

OU would need to beat Tech

If Tech beats OU then OU would have two losses and would be out of the discussion. There is no way that a then undefeated Tech could lose in the Big 12 Championship and remain in the top two. Not without a bevy of upsets by nearly everyone in the top 7 besides the Big 12 teams.

The best possiblility would be for OU to win and go to the Big 12 championship game and then lose to Mizzou. Tech would probably fall a little after the OU loss, but would probably not fall behind USC. If then Alabama and Florida were to sustain another loss apiece then it could happen.

New BCS Scenario?

This seems a bit far-fetched to me. However, consider the following more likely scenario: OU wins out and Tech beats Baylor. OU leaps over Texas and goes to the the Big 12 champ game and plays Mizzou. Under that scenario, the Horns are most likely back in San Diego for our regular Holiday Bowl trip. This assumes the loser of the Big-12 championship game goes to the Cotton Bowl and Tech gets the other BCS game.

disagree

I only disagree because I think Tech would fall just slightly below Texas in the BCS, and if Texas is top 4 in the BCS, they’d be guaranteed a spot, no?
