The Doomsday Scenario ( BCS Madness )
I don't think this is really even possible because the computers wouldn't allow it ( I hope ), but I came across a video of two talking heads on ESPN who laid out what I thought to be the worst case scenario for texas:
I copied the link, don't know if it works... It's the Pregame shift on espn about the TTU vs OU game:
http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?videoId=3715036&categoryId=2564308
In this scenario:
1. OU beats TTU
2. OU leapfrogs Texas
3. OU loses to Mizzou in the Big12 Game
I'm pretty sure these two guys said that USC should jump all the Big 12 South teams and play Florida in the MNC in this scenario.
If we were leapfrogged by OU and USC in the same year, I might have to become completely unhinged. Did I hear them correctly in that video bit? USC jumps all three Big 12 South teams??? I blacked out for a second, so I'm not sure.

Clarification
While I said “worst scenario” I don’t know if this is the worst from the team’s standpoint, but the worst for my emotional and physical wellbeing.
Physical Wellbeing
Can often be brought into question by harsh moments in collegiate football. My pug dog was nearly killed when my best friend drunk-belly flopped / face planted onto the floor following Gideon’s Bobble.
I was referring
To Mizzou. The only way Texas could sneak into the National championship aside from Tech winning out accompanied with other losses.

Controversey
In the controversey that would lead up to the Big XII title game if OU beat Tech, Texas would be highly considered in the mix and would not be forgotten should OU drop a game to a team Texas beat. This would probably mean that Texas and Mizzou would be the two Big XII teams playing in any BCS bowl at all. Texas in the National Championship and Mizzou in the Title bowl game.

should OU drop a game to a team Texas beat? who OSU?
if OU loses twice, then it’s no longer a 3 way tie, in that case, it’s whoever won the head to head between Texas Tech and Texas… and we did not win it. We need OU to win out, but do so unconvincingly and be almost sheer luck.

I think he’s talking about Mizzou.

Theres no way a one loss USC leaps a one loss Texas
Its just not happening this year.
The Pac-10 is freaking terrible.
Plus a 2 loss OU wont make a BCS game where a 1 loss Texas would, I cant be upset about OU jumping us if that happens. Plus we would probably stiff arm tech out of a BCS bowl. So, I dont see that as being bad for us at all, we would be the only south team in the BCS.

If USC leaps us
It just shows how moronic the voters are.
Their best win: Ohio State at home. An Ohio State team who had yet to find their identity with Terrelle Pryor, barely beat bad teams in the beginning, and didn’t have Beanie Wells.
Their loss: Against unranked Oregon State, who got thumped by Penn State.
The rest of their schedule: A decent OOC slate, with Ohio State and Virginia, but their Pac-10 schedule is just trash.
On a neutral field, I think they can take on any of the best teams in the country. Their defense is very, very good. However, you can say that about a number of teams, and the simple fact is that their overall resume doesn’t even compare to the likes of one-loss teams like Oklahoma and Texas. Heck, even though Florida lost to an unranked team at home, I’d take Ole Miss over Oregon State, and Florida has had more impressive victories after lighting up teams like LSU and Georgia.
Just goes to show how little many voters pay attention, or how arrogant they are by thinking they can simply assess who is #1 or #2 while disregarding their overall body of work.

USC Won't Leap Us (if we beat Aggy)
It’s impossible. Computers hate them hard enough that even if pollsters somehow put them over us one full spot in points, it wouldn’t make up for the computer.
If Mizzou wins, we are in!
I think they can definitely beat Tech in Arrowhead.

lets not forget a key point to all of this...
UT MUST beat the Hell outta TAMU, and because we have the human element in this we need to put a smak down on them that I think Mack is usually loathe to encourage, i.e. once we beat the spread keep piling on, and on, and on…we have to do something like this to get UT on the highlight reels and into the minds of these voters. Hanging over half a hunny on Army, and some gawdy McCoy stats would help a great deal I think to keep us in the public eye.
Strong defensive game as well
Aggies may be in the basement of the division but they can put up points. 28 on Ok State, 25 on Tech and 28 on OU. If Texas can make a big statement with their defense and only allow aTm to put up 14 or less while Colt can put up four or five touchdowns, maybe a 56-10 game, that will definitely help UT.
I wouldn't lose any sleep over this scenario
I am convinced that, so long as Tech beats Baylor and Texas beats A&M, the Big XII will have clinched at least one spot in MIami.
If those two things happen, it is a mathematical certainty that either Texas or OU will finish the season 11-1 without going to KC, since the only way Texas would be going to KC is through winning the three-way tiebreaker, which would require OU to be 11-1 as well. Both of those teams are ranked ahead of USC and will certainly continue to be ranked ahead of USC, perhaps significantly so, by the computers, given both teams’ (currently for UT, by that time for OU if they’re 11-1) vastly superior SOS.
For USC to overtake either Texas or OU (for simplicity’s sake, let’s just assume it’s Texas in this scenario since that’s far likelier to happen) after a Mizzou victory in KC, it means that a USC team already ranked behind Texas would have to leapfrog a Texas team in the himan polls, and perhaps by a significant amount. Texas, of course, would not have lost a game between now and December 7. There’s a good chance USC would have to make this leap without the benefit of being an undisputed Pac 10 champ either.
In other words, practically every voter in the Harris and coaches’ polls, or at least a vast majority of those voters, would have to suddenly decide that, despite Texas not losing a game, USC was suddenly a better team than Texas.
That’s just not going to happen. I’m not one who believes that a Vast USC Media Conspiracy continues to exist. If it did, there’s no way USC, with one loss, would be ranked behind not one, not two, but three other one-loss teams.
