Pick Your Scenario
Lets be honest, in the big picture, it is grim. An Oklahoma win next week will push them by our belowved Horns. So we are left to grasp at straws. Which one of these scenarios do you think is most likely to happen:
1. Easiest to Understand - Baylor Beats Texas Tech. Horns go to the Big XII championship and the additional Mizzou win gives us the computer strength to go to Miami.
2. Okie State Beats OU, Texas Tech goes to Big XII title in tie breaker and proceeds to lose against Mizzou. Horns Go despite the lack of a Big XII title.
3. One of Florida/Alabama loses to Florida State/Auburn and the loser then wins the SEC championship.
4. Horns, TT, and Oklahoma win and Texas holds its computer lead over Oklahoma to go to Big XII championship.

I think you left out the possibility that could really happen...
The loonies lay an egg in Stillwater and then TT loses to Mizzou…..
I'd rather you just say thank you and went on your way.

How about option 2
with the exception that tech beats mizzou but texas holds down the #2 bcs spot ahead of tech, usc, etc?

i voted for a bama/gator loss
there is just something about the iron bowl that we will not know what the outcome will be. bama has sat pretty all season long and are under the radar at #1 IMO. i think they will suffer the upset this week.

Well-phrased
poll questons. I thought majority vote would go to No. 2; I picked 1 because I think Tech has to be so deflated.
But if option 2 happens, aren’t Horns well situated? Tech is 7 in BCS; they’re not going to pass an 11-1 Texas even if they beat Baylor and Missouri. If OU is out of the way, the final BCS poll has to be: 1. Alabama/Florida winner; 2. Texas; 3. USC (if they win out) or Alabama, if the Tide’s only loss is to Florida. Tech is maybe 5; OU, with two losses, around 7-8.
Put another way: If Oklahoma State and Texas win this week, who else except the SEC champion could keep Texas out of the top two?

I don't think anyone can to be honest
SEC winner versus Texas/OU is what people want to see. Well really I think this entire season the media has wanted Florida/USC but with the trojans losing they’re out unless OU loses, Texas wins very ugly and USC puts up 60+ in shutouts versus Notre Dame and UCLA. The media could try their hardest to put up USC as the hot current pick versus an equally hot Florida with Tebow vs Sanchez but I don’t think it will be enough to overcome the computers. Basically the only team that can hurt Texas is Texas.

Tech to Big 12 as OU loses to OSU and beats Missouri.
They would be 12-1 and we would be 11-1. Would they jump Texas – from #7 over a #2 Texas?

Voters could screw us again is Tech to Big 12 championship and beat Missouri
ESPN reporters stated last night if this happened – 12-1 Tech and 11-1 Texas, that voters would put Tech over Texas as Big 12 champion and they beat Texas and they also beat Missouri like Texas.

ESPN is waiting (and drooling)
for the opportunity to throw USC into the championship game. Why else are they even in the picture?!?! If USC is in the picture then why isn’t Penn State? Penn St beat Oregon St who beat USC.
I’ll be the first to say Penn St is a very good team but definitely overrated thanks to a soft Big 10. Their offense is very inconsistent. But to be fair they only have one loss too. So once again USC gets the nod because their loss was early (and ESPN loves USC every year) and Penn State’s loss was late?!!?
Why would the NCAA and college presidents NOT want a playoff? Because of this very scenario – many teams vying for attention. All the discussion boosts interest by the fans and encourages more people to watch the games. And then talk about the games and keep the interest/discussion going all year long…….and round and round it goes. That’s why they don’t want a playoff. Think about it……the tournament for basketball is huge in February and March. Then you have a champion. Who gives a rats ass once the champion has been crowned?? Basketball is put back on the shelf until November. And most fans (myself included) don’t really get into basketball until late Dec / early Jan / conference play begins.
