Florida's loss at home to Ole Miss
Florida's loss at home to Ole Miss
i know yall probably dont agree with me but ole miss is not exactly the laughing stock of the sec any more. we did beat florida at home, and we could easiley be undefeated or at the worst 9-2. i mean we lost on a last second feild goal to wake after a bogus pass interference call to lose by 2, against vandy we lost by six after turning over the ball 6 times including 2 fumbles inside the red zone. we blew a double digit lead to south carolina to lose by 7. and we lost by 4 to alabama and we had the ball last and we were drivivng very well until snead threw a pick. so we are not a joke, and i would apprciate everyone (not reffering to everyone in this blog, more like everyone in college football who is not an ole miss fan) referring to that as a terrible loss for florida. didnt anyone see us beat lsu 31-13 this weekend?

every team is a few plays away from winning every game. and lsu is not shaping up to be this year what they’ve been before.
that said, congrats on a great season, and regardless of your potential as a good team, that loss by florida at florida was terrible.

i never said they were a legit power
im just tired of everyone on the planet who isnt a rebel saying that it was a fluke or it was a terrible loss, we beat them head to head that day, we even came back from being down 17-7 at the half and we did things that a good team does, we made big plays when we needed them on offense and we forced turnovers on defense, and when it came down to it at the end we stuffed the “best player in college football history according to urban meyer” on a fourth and inches with the game on the line.
Heres to the nastiest defense in college football 2008-2009

Ole Miss isn't a joke
But let’s not pretend they’re a legit power right now either. And LSU has awful quarterbacks and was very overrated all year.
Ole Miss isn’t as good as Tech, yet the Horns lost to them at the last second ON THE ROAD and Florida lost to Ole Miss at the Swamp. OU > Georgia or LSU. Heck, Mizzou and Oklahoma State are arguably superior to Georgia and most certainly better than LSU and their pick-6 happy QB.
So that’s why we ask: Why is Florida ranked above both Oklahoma and Texas? It makes no sense whatsoever except if you take into account blatant, SEC bias.
That doesn’t mean I think Florida isn’t good; I’m actually very impressed with their play lately. They just don’t have the resume that OU and Texas have, and that’s just indisputable to any informed person.

2nd best in the SEC West
Yeah, you’re right – Ole Miss isn’t the horrible team many people make them out to be. I’ve watched a few of your games this year, mostly to watch Jevan Sneed and cheer him on. Ole Miss is 4-3 in conference and 7-4 overall. That’s not a bad record at all – same as Nebraska in the B12N.
I think people react that way (“oh, that HORRIBLE loss to lowly Ole Miss”) because you have a new coach this year and weren’t expected to do that well. Surprisingly, you have. I think it’s also the timing of that game vs. Florida – at the time it was a total shock. Now? Not so much since the team’s turned out to be solid.

I love Ole Miss
Because they keep proving that you can win in the SEC with a backup Big XII QB. Thanks Ole Miss.

You're right, OleMiss is not a joke this year...
They normally are, but Nutt really does have a pretty good team. I’ve watched them play quite a bit (roommate went to school there) and they have a very good D-line, and have yet to be dominated by anyone.
That being said, Florida should not have lost to them. It would be like OU losing at home to Nebraska. You can comprehend it, but it just shouldn’t happen.
Also, OleMissReb, good luck in the Cotton against Tech. You’re going to need it.

Ole Miss is a quality team
They have a good – sometimes great – defense, a coach who is crazy like a (rabid) fox, a good QB, and a good enough offensive line to get yards when they need them and keep Sneed’s jersey clean.
Likely some of the discount value placed on Ole Miss is there because of the Ed O. era, where the team underachieved to an impressive degree. Unfortunately for you now, Nutt has the rare gift of losing the games he should win, and winning the games he should lose. You’re more likely to be viewed as a gutty little spoiler when you lose to Vandy and Wake, but beat Florida and make Bama sweat a close one.
