Stephen Mcgee listed as starter for the Texas game

Stephen Mcgee has been listed as starter for the Texas-Texas A&M game.

On if he was surprised to see Stephen McGee listed as the starting QB: No, I'll expect to see both quarterbacks. Stephen has been a guy that has played outstanding football for them and he's won a lot of football games for them. I've got a lot of respect for him as a competitor. He'll play well on Thursday night. - Will Muschamp

wait

is this really happening?
why would the sherm do this?
i understand the loyalty and everything
but hasn’t this guy only played in 2 or 3 games this season
and he’s been hurt
game time speed, health
all sorts of things come to my mind about how this is just bad for the kid
no, i don’t like mcgee at all
but he’s kind of getting a raw deal right now
meanwhile their qb of the future is well it seems done for the year
how does that hold up to team morale for the future?

well...

I think they see it as this guy has won the past 2 years against us. Its his last game ever…they have nothing to play for except winning the rivalry.

Love it

Does anyone else have this tinge of excitement that we very well might have a DOMINANT performance coming from UT of historical proportion.

I am guilty (like alot of UT fans) about having a touch of anticipation going into a potential let-down game (like Kansas this year, for instance). I knew we would be fine with Kansas and I would have bet alot of money UT would cover the spread. However, a few times a year, I have this little voice in the back of my head telling me there is a chance we will lay an egg.

However, for this game, I have this tingle in my toes that I have never had before. I can clearly see the future, and the future is Kindle de-cleating Goodson 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

This announcement about about Mcgee completes this sensation. I have this vision of Mcgee on the sidelines with a towel over his face hiding the tears due to the abject failure A&M has become in his tenure. I am confident at a level I have never been going into a UT football game.

I am not talking about over-confident. I am talking about fire-breathing, blood-in-the-water, straight-for-the jugular confidence. Holy shit, I can’t wait for Thursday night!!

not the jugular

Go for the carotid artery. Its a quicker death. im loving it.

that is of course

you want them to suffer. If thats the case trauma to the knee cap is always the ticket

Note: This is not a vendetta or a personal attack on Agro players. I do not wish a Blaine Irby-like incident on anyone Its just a figure of speech.

A&M hates him already for his comments.

I mean, its all well and good to piss off Orakpo and Kindle when you’re not playing against them on Thursday. I bet McGee and the rest of the A&M offense has a few choice things to say to him right about now.

Its easy to cut off the big fat hairy man in the semi-tractor-trailer on the freeway when you can make a speedy getaway. Cut him in front of him in line for food at a tailgate…yeah not so much.

McGee & Goodson

need to be hit hard every play. I hope Muschamp makes sure neither has a good night.

No need.

If we play our game, there will be plenty of legal opportunities for infliction of massive pain.

2 of the last 3 years

A&M has come out and played a different offense against us than they have most of the rest of their season. In 2005 they went almost exclusive option and we were surprised by it, as well as McGee’s speed and toughness, and it nearly cost us our shot at the MNC game. Last year they threw it all over the place after being a run/option oriented team and we failed to adjust in time and lost.

I wonder if any of this had any bearing on Sherman starting McGee for this game?

That's a sporting proposition.

I would say, yes, it’s likely they’ll come out with something different or mix it all together. It’s senior day so it may not last that long. I would suspect special plays in the early portion of the game.

The team itself seemed to have some control last year in the game plan. So, that could indicate something that they felt they could find some success, especially in the short term.

They will play hard; how well this translates on the score board really is a function of how quickly they want to expend their energy. Big start with adrenalin boost, then it wears down. Sorta like Ricky vs. Mississippi State DBs in the Cotton Bowl. They were strong early then Ricky nearly eliminated a defensive backfield full of shoulders.

How much variation can they actually produce from those two attacks and their current one? The return of McGee & JLane for one last thump in the grass?

They have nothing to lose, everything to gain, so we can expect a downpour of fanaticism early on.
