Check out this Jewel over at Texags.com
If you have 10 minutes to waste and you want to lower your IQ by 20 points or so, read this thread over at texags.com trying to determine bowl eligibility and, more specifically, which bowl A&M will go to if they beat Texas today. Mind you, the hypothetical win today would give them a total of 5 wins on the season. I think the collective IQ of the posters on this thread is 100. Here it is: http://www.texags.com/main/forum.reply.asp?topic_id=1309185&page=1&forum_id=5

My favorite response:
“The Offseason Bowl”
prestigious yet everyone is invited!

Actually this remarkably stupid, even for Aggies.
The argument, crystallized, is this:
1. A&M Needs 6 wins to go to a bowl game.
2. After beating UT, they will have 5.
3. After wining thier bowl game, they will have six.
4. Consequently, they will be eligible for a bowl game.
Quite a syllogism.

To give a little credit
to some of the Aggies. There are some there who are trying to explain to rebelionel the points made above. He seems oblivious to any argument against his pipedream. Obviously, he has a great future on message boards, as well as in any classes in Logic at A&M.

Sorry
the cut and paste was a little quick. I meant “If not in any classes in Logic” While I love to make fun of Aggies, I do not mean to disrespect their academics. I save that disrespect for LandThievesU.

You sir, are an idiot.
A couple of things:
1) UT fans, and BON’ers especially, seem to have this belief that Aggies lack any sense of sarcasm. Especially in regards to texags posts. Apparently, anything written on Texags should: a) be taken as the aggie collectives opinion and b) be read straight, with no attempt to sense sarcasm.
2) As previously eluded to, anyone can post on Texags and while BONers would like to argue otherwise, the opinion of the site simply does not come from the university. In fact, a UT fan could register with the site as an aggie, and post such topics as described before (and if you think they don’t have the time, you never went to college). I have never posted on texags and never known another aggie to. Perhaps many of the posts are from 12 year kids or the like. There is no way of knowing.
3) Even assuming that the original poster DOES in fact believe that beating Texas will result in a bowl appearance, the amount of posts afterwords that denounce this possibility highly outnumbers any confirming posts.
Now, all is not lost. I understand that when you get a little drunk after a win you tend to be a little bias with your readings. This is to be expected. Your bias and the ones that will come after you will simply be disregarded by those with reason and shall I say, insight. As much as you would like to believe that the Aggie meltdown will transcend the University’s distinction as an academic institution and that a nuclear meltdown is the only option left in the city, I assure you that Aggies everywhere will continue to hold their heads high. And while we have no “We’re Texas” slogan to define our arrogance, we will continue to pack the stadium and root for our team.
Did you know that this year was the second largest average stadium attendance for a season? I would LOVE to see UT pull that when they go 4-8 with 5 home losses. Honestly, I love this site and “like” UT, but posts like this and mainly the “We’re Texas” arrogance make me glad I didn’t attend the school.

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy the win, and enjoy berating my response!
Only thing I pointed out was the idiocy of that particular thread...
Stop trying to make something more of it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too.
Make you glad you didn't attend the school?
That’s rich. Because the whole “we’re Texas” thing is all about arrogance, and has nothing whatsoever to do with having pride in the rich history and tradition of the University. And us arrogant Texas fans may not understand why Aggies swing towels in the air throughout the course of the entire game (methinks it serves as a distractor from what is going down on the field), but we don’t call you guys arrogant and classless for wearing your bright whites and having postgame celebrations that involve throwing male cheerleaders into a fountain and singing weird songs, that’s all about pride too, I guess.
But I digress. Honestly carsondude, come over to a Texas Longhorns website after Texas wipes the floor with A&M to talk trash about arrogant Longhorn fans and their lack of class or sportsmanship in the face of finally turning the tides in a heated rivalry, and you are going to read stuff you don’t like. What you are doing right now is akin to any of us heading over to Double-T nation on the night of November 1st after “the game that will never be mentioned again” and trying to find comfort in the form of flame-wars with fans of the team that just whipped ours. Just get some rest man, enjoy the rest of the holidays.
