Who Cares about Big 12?? Shouldn't we want NATL CHAMPIONSHIP?!?

ok soo im here at my apt at ut watching the game and i still dont know who im supposed to go for. everyone keeps talking about the big 12 and the 3 way tie, but does it really matter, i say screw the big 12, let tech have it. we want the natl championship!

correct me if i am wrong, but shouldnt we be going for oklahoma state? if oklahoma st beats ou, then ou is out. then it will be:
1) Alabama
2) Texas
3) Florida
4)USC

..and then we will watch the sec championship, and either way, it doesnt really matter does it??? if florida wins, then bama is out, and it will be:
1) Texas
2) Florida
3) USC

..and texas would go to championship at large.

or if bama beats florida, florida will be out and the top three will look like this:

1) Alabama
2) Texas
3) USC

..so does the big 12 really matter? shouldnt we go ahead and just want tech to go beat the sorry mizzou team. and even as conference champs, beating mizzou, wont be enough to knock us out right?

i am no expert, your thoughts?

We want Mizzou to look as good as possible, so that our win over them looks even better. So Tech over Mizzou would benefit us more, and it’s better that they lost today so that they dnot vault up in the BCS any most likely.

I agree, I dont CARE about any conference championship as much as the Natl Championship. Some dumbazz ESPN analysts were saying that if Tech were the Conference Champion, voters might vault them past Texas… yeah right…

1) We’d rather control our own destiny, which we would if we won a three-way tiebreaker.

2) Since we don’t know that we’d win the 3-way tiebreak, YES, we’re for OSU.

3) Though an OSU win would be a great thing for Texas, let’s just be clear that the ideal situation would be for Texas to win the three-way tiebreak. Since we can’t guarantee that result, we root for OSU. But conference titles matter. And I’d love the shot to play for one.

PB, if we root for OSU and they win, we automatically dont get to play for the Conference Title.. ?? We root for ou to win, but not by much, and to play sh!tty, which they’re doing very handsomely right now.. ou sux

Right

Root for OSU. If they win, it helps our MNC goals. If they play OU tight, it helps our Big 12 goals.

Either way: Go OSU.

If ou wins by only a touchdown or 10 points, Texas should still be ranked ahead BCS I think… Mizzou losing today didnt help our cause of bragging about having to play four ranked teams in a row, but… the OSU crowd needs to get into it.

what about the politics of head-to-head?

say OSU wins and tech wins the big 12. since mack brown has been pushing the “head-to-headnshould trump all measuring sticks” angle, wouldn’t he (along with MANY other voters) vote for tech over texas in the final public poll? that might allow tech to overcome their poor computer ranking (while also diluting texas’ human poll standing) thus allowing USC (or even tech) to slip up into the #2 spot?

mack would face a huge backlash if he voted otherwise.

bleeding orange up in nyc. get a rope.

Names don’t have to be on any votes, so no one would know who voted which way. I don’t think any voter with a conscience would vote Tech into the natl championship knowing they’ve lost a game by such a large margin.

Yes, but

the one that counts for us is not the final poll. The final poll is after the conference championships.

Obviously

unless OU manages to lose to Mizzou – then the final one counts for us

One more thing, a little off point

I want us to put 100 points on OSU next year, to punish them for giving up at the end of this game. That last TD might have cost us the chance to play in the CCG and the MNC game.
