Enemy of the Nation - Bob "run it up" Stoops

I know we were doing something like this before on BON, just rehashing it up. Right now Bob Stoops has to be #1. That last TD was just... ugh... I... HATE... STOOPS!

Honestly...

If BlowU goes to the National Title and lays that fat egg they always do and embarrasses the Big XII for a 5th consecutive year, I will sh*t my pants.

What is OU gonna do about Tebow? If they can't stop robinson and some decent athletes at OSU, Florida is gonna light them up!

Come on you gave up 41, FORTY ONE POINTS!!! Great defense. Enjoy your “almost” national championship season sooners.

agreed

It was especially frustrating when herbstreit’s sidekick proposed using total margin of victory as the tiebreaker

GRRRRRRRR

like it really matters if you beat aggie and baylor by 25 or 40

I hate to defend anything OU related at a time like this...

…but that last TD wasn’t running up the score They did nothing but run the ball, mostly running out the clock. The blame for that one goes to OSU for letting up and allowing a long rushing TD.

There are several better reasons to justify being pissed at OU, like a bad habit of quitting after the Big 12 championship game.

agree

BUT it shouldn’t even come down to this. Texas beat ou by 10 on a neutral field. It doesn’t matter who ou beats and how much they beat them by. ou is 11-1, and the 1 is a loss to TEXAS by 10 on a neutral field!

What about Tech?

You can’t say it’s just between UT and OU(sucks). Tech is also 11-1.

It doesn’t matter who ou beats and how much they beat them by. ou is 11-1, and the 1 is a loss to TEXAS by 10 on a neutral field!

So the fact that OU beat Tech doesn’t matter? The fact that Tech beat us doesn’t matter?

I think it is more

The pollsters think it is down to OU and Texas, so you have to go to the head to head between OU and Texas.

45-35

Doesn't matter

Here’s what everyone needs to understand:

- The Big XII South is a THREE way tie… no doubt about it!

- However, the race for #2 in the BCS rankings is a TWO way tie. Tech is clearly out of this race. It’s between Texas and Oklahoma, and what’s the tie-breaker between two teams that are tied? Head to head. 45-35 baby.

That's not enough for me

Bob Stoops just doesn’t know when to stop. It says so much about Mack Brown and Texas that he will take a Heisman candidate out of the game, despite the protest of 98,614 and the team. That, and Chiles still put up a passing TD. And 41 points on an OU defense…come on now!

A Mack Brown coached team would've been in victory formation

and kneeled until the clock reached zeroes. That last TD was unnecessary.

Agree.

1st & 10 with less than 30 seconds = kneel the ball.

by ajax77777 on Nov 29, 2008 11:34 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Right -- Mack has too much integrity

Any decent team would have taken a knee — I mean, come on, up 13 points with 32 seconds left? Just end it. Stoops is a pig, an absolute shameless unsportsmanlike pig. I’m disappointed that final TD is not being talked about in the sports news today.

it was a win win situation for bob.

they score a TD running it : well we ran the ball which is how you run out the clock, plus we’re using Chris Brown.. not our starting RB
they don’t score a TD running it : well that’s about the same as taking a knee so who cares.

correction...

OU will receive the bid to represent the South in the Championship Game. Please do not say that OU “won the South.”

by BrooklynHorn on Nov 30, 2008 1:07 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yes,

the tiebreakers only give them the opportunity to represent the South in the Championship game. They only won a piece of the South.

Complaints about Stoops

I like both coaches Brown and Stoops. But I ask what is worse? Is it worse to score points at the end of a football game or to call into to the anouncers of a game that your not in and beg for votes?
I hope that OU receives the bid (I stand corrected on winning). Still what should happen is that Mizzu should drop out next week so that Texas and OU could play fo rthe championship of the big 12.

45-35 would happen

Did Mack call ESPN or did ESPN call Mack?

Stoops would have done the same. In fact, he did worse (that last TD). He’s doing plenty of lobbying, even though he claims he’s not. I’ll repeat what I said above, because this can’t be said enough: Stoops is a pig.

by NYCHorn on Nov 30, 2008 11:48 AM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I didn't realize Herby and Musberger had a coaches hotline during the game

Seriously? This interview was clearly going to be part of the program. You KNEW it was going to happen considering the circumstances that ESPN would have Mack on a phone during the game. Stop turning this around to suggest that Mack started this and was being classless. Please.
