OSU
Okay, the big Texas @ Tech thing is in the rear view mirror for everyone. Thank goodness.
Serious question: We have the Pokes coming to town on Saturday and I don't really know much more about them than Dez, Pettigew and Hunter. I'm not sold on their QB, but it sounds like he's got some legs to go with the arm (that sounds funny and not in a ha-ha way, but you get my drift).
What is the key to playing their offense? How did Texas attack their offensive schemes and what should/could Muschamp have done differently (I realize you won, but there is always room for improvement).
What about their defense? Are they that stout or did UT just have an off day against them? Holding you under 30 scares me. Colt had a very good day, and the team racked up more than 500 yds. How were they able to keep you off the scoreboard?
Appreciate any input as we gear up for our next, "biggest game in our history."

I think they are the most balanced team we have played. They have a good combination of running and passing game. Having a mobile QB doesnt help either. Besides they also have a experienced secondary and their OL does a good job.
Blizting them is not gonna help either in any way atleast per me coz they will burn you guys all day. Deep safeties like the ones used for Texas aint gonna help either coz they will run the ball down your throat..You guys throwing all the time- From where I sit the only way to beat them is the fact that the game is being played in your back yard. Also remember that Crabtree goes- You know the game is more or less over since I believe he is the only deep threat playmaker you have.
Frankly me be a longhorner I would love nothing more but you guys to loose this game-understandbly since we have more to gain from your loss.
Not telling...just kidding
Time of possession was a big reason the scoreboard wasn’t lit up. There were drives where Texas had the ball 5-6 min and OSU responded in kind with a 5-6 min drive.

The game was close because
of two RZ failures by the Horns. OSU is very balanced and physical. However, If Tech is on offensively, I don’t know that they can keep up. Discounting miscues and the like, I see Tech pulling away late.
Disciplina Praesidium Civitatis.
OSU is the best team we've played so far
And I expect them to beat Tech on Saturday. Reason? They’re too physical for Tech. Their special teams are better also. It will be high-scoring and fun to watch, but in the end the Pokes’ physical superiority will win out.

Interesting
I buy the special teams argument, but Tech can be pretty physical too. You guys weren’t exactly a bunch of daisy’s out there Saturday. The Horns can hit and man-up pretty nicely.
Throw 'em all in a bag
Take OU, OSU, Tech and Texas. Throw ‘em in a round-robin tournament with a home & home each and one neutral site game (ala RRS), and you know what you’d probably get in the end? Everybody even-steven. This year, we are all that evenly matched – all four of us.
I just think the confluence of circumstances on this particular Saturday favors OSU, who might just have the slightest of edges over all of us in the long run due to the aforementioned physicality. Yes, I was that impressed by them.

Zac didnt impress me
But he has some great options around him. Provided he can get the ball out, their offense can hum on the back of any two of Bryant, Pettigrew, or Hunter.
Or if you cant cover Bryant, its game over. See Iowa State.
Crabtree is easily a better receiver, but Bryant is more of a freak out on the field.

The way Malcolm Williams was able to get deep on Tech's defense
does not bode well. Dez Bryant will be able to blow your safeties away and get many a deep ball if Malcolm Williams could.
Also, Kendall Hunter is a man. I don’t think Tech will be able to stop him and the passing game at the same time. Muschamp devoted more to the passing game so Hunter ran free a lot of the time, but he is physical…
In essence, get ready to see Bryant go deep (a lot after watching the Texas/Tech game) and Hunter breaking tackles and going right up the gut.
Crap
That’s not what I want to hear. That Williams kid is something for y’all. Very impressed by him. Very.
I think if we can turn this one into a shootout instead of the slug fest we had with y’all, it bodes well. OSUs pass defense is marginal at best…as is ours. Our run defense, shockingly, is 10th in the nation. Who would have ever guessed Tech could do that 9 weeks into any season against any teams?? Hunter, as little as I’ve seen of him, is a tough tackle for sure.
I would rather tee up on the run. That way, if they score, they score quick through the air. I have no concerns about Tech being able to go nuts against the OSU pass defense, though.
Haha man oh man...
Now it begins for ya’ll. Reading all kinds of scouting reports and game analysis about the upcoming team. Haha, welcome to our world for the past 4 weeks! If your stress level isn’t through the roof by the time Tech plays OU, I’d say you have nerves of steel.
Hunter is a beast...
I have been impressed by this guy. He is powerful and quick, has a great burst and vision. He gave our D fits. Luckily, were were somewhat able to contain Bryant. If they get that run pass balance, they’ll be difficult to slow down.

You pretty much know what there is to know...
Muschamp made a point of taking away Dez Bryant and did so for the most part. He never hit a home run on a vertical route, never busted a middle screen, and was non-existent in the intermediate game. Most of his stat line came in the last 30 seconds against Texas’ prevent defense.
With all the attention Bryant got, Brandon Pettigrew was able to have a big day. He’s not a “field stretcher” per se, but he was a tough cover for Texas’ LBs and was the main passing threat for the Pokes.
Kendall Hunter was the spark plug for the attack. OSU’s O Line walled off the Texas front 7 time and again and allowed Hunter to have a big day. If Tech’s defense can limit his production on the ground, I really like their chances to win.
The biggest thing I took away from the Texas/Tech game was the pass rushing ability of the Raider D Line. Williams and Dixon are excellent speed rushers and Colby Whitlock is a bull. I think they’ll get ample pressure on Robinson and hold the passing game in check to some extent. However, I still think priority number 1 for Ruffin this week is to limit Hunter and the ground game as much as possible. For the most part, they did a very good job of this against Texas, and allowed them to unleash that awesome pass rush as a result.
Should be another fun one in Lubbock, I can’t wait!
Tech's biggest problem is...
that they aren’t playing Texas or Oklahoma (the same could be said for OSU). A big reason Tech won is they were so fired up. It was apparent they’d been waiting for that game all season and while they may not line up with Texas talent wise, they certainly had a big advantage in intensity. That won’t be the case this weekend against a very strong OSU team.

That smells
wayyy too accurate for these ears. I think this one will suck to watch…but my gut tells me Tech pulls away in this one makes the score look worse than it was. Just a hunch, more than anything concrete. I mean, seriously. Who gets “up” to play the Cowboys? OSU, Tulsa. OSU, Tulsa. Seem kind of interchangeable in so far as how much intensity you can muster.
I'm with you...
Tortilla High had no problem getting up for TEXAS, but have they ever had to run the gauntlet they’re about to have to run…? Me thinks not.
Best balanced team in Big 12
Offensive line is very good and very effective running game. Bryant is not only issue – watch out for Pettigrew – he is big and dangerous. If OSU runs the ball for 150-200 yards or so, they have a very good chance of winning this game.
