"If winning isn't everything, then why do they keep score?" -- Vince Lombardi
The Game
Baylor's Robert Griffin does not care about moral victories. He just wants to win.
"I don't believe in moral victories, but we showed that we come to play every day," freshman quarterback Robert Griffin said after the 31-28 loss to the Tigers.
And, coach Art Briles said, "We can play with anybody in the country."
Art Briles does not have a big playbook. He is a quick-read kind of guy.
One of Baylor’s most prolific and effective plays this season has been the quick screen pass into the flat, with quarterback Robert Griffin taking the snap and instantly firing the ball out to Kendall Wright or Thomas White down the line of scrimmage. Typically, Wright or White are able to rapidly produce a four or five-yard gain before the defense even draws near.
And one more story about the Horn's embattled defense.

The Other Game
Two of the Big 12's top receivers meet up this weekend.
Dez Bryant sees all the hype that Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree receives and thinks it's deserved. He'd just appreciate it if someone threw some love his direction, too.
"Every time I turn on the TV, all I hear is (ESPN analyst) Kirk Herbstreit talking about, 'He's the best receiver in the country.' That started to get to me a little bit, but I really don't let it get to me too much," Bryant said.
"It still does motivate me to go out there and play my hardest and to show him there is another guy out there."
Texas Tech chancellor Kent Hance makes Mike Leach a priority, but the coach's name is popping up everywhere as schools rack up vacancies.
"We are definitely going to keep Mike Leach," he told the redraidersports.com Web site. "He's a great coach, he's a great guy and he's going to get a new contract at the end of the season.
Leach is definitely on Tennessee's short list.
SI's Cory McCartney has three things you should care about in Saturday's game.
Do you remember last year's Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State game? OSU beat Tech 49-45. And then this happened at the post-game press conference.
And one final thought on this game... GO POKES!
The Rest of the Big 12
Texas A&M heads into their game against OU with two wins. Coach Mike Sherman is pleased, but wants more passion from the players and used a Bunson burner for emphasis.
"I told the players that at 212 degrees, water boils. At 210 degrees, it doesn't," he said. "It takes a couple of degrees to move a train, an old steam car, a steamboat. It just takes one or two degrees. If you're at 210, it doesn't get it done. At 212, you can do unbelievable things with steam."
Do you know the last time Kansas won at Nebraska? 40 years ago. Bo Pelini was nine months old.
What everyone has been waiting for... Darell Scott's big day has arrived.
But running backs coach Darian Hagan says that tag isn't as important to Scott as "getting some carries, some confidence and contributing.
"Now, he doesn't have the luxury of limping around, saying, 'I can't go' on certain plays because 'Speedy' is not here. Now, I don't care if (Scott) can't go. Get your butt in there and roll."
Tim Griffin's picks of the week.

Advice from BONers needed
I’m a lifelong fan driving down this afternoon from Dallas for my first game at DKR. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
Time we should get to campus?
Where to park? (don’t have passes)
Hot spots to hit before the game?
Anything we shouldn’t miss?
Thanks to all…..

Set your alarm clock
Nothing like your first…unfortunately, your first game starts at 11am so it may take a quarter or so for DKR to really get rocking, but it’ll still be great.
If you get down to the stadium area before 9am, you should still be able to find some pay lots located in a reasonable proximity from the stadium…when I was at Gameday before the Mizzou game, I found one located right off MLK on University Avenue. It’s accross the street from the Kappa Sorority House and it’s only about a 10 minute walk from the stadium.
Just south and a little east of that lot is Scholz Beer Garden (San Jacinto and 17th)…this is a good pre-game spot, but with the 11am start time, don’t expect the party to really get going until after the game. There’s also a street blocked off near Scholz with a bunch street vendors selling beer and other food. You may also want to wander through the parking lots with all the tailgates and don’t hesitate to just grab a trash cooler from 7-11 with some beer and cop a squat some where near the stadium.
Other than that, enjoy the walk to the game down San Jacinto street and get to DKR by 10:45 at the latest. And since it’s your first visit, I’d suggest going in around 10am just to see the pre-game activities…the players warming up, the band marching in, etc.
Have of a good one.

I always park at the Texas State History Museum (Bob Bullock).
It’s like $7 and the walk down MLK goes right through the best tailgate spots.

Thanks
Appreciate the info – we’ll definitely get down there by 8:30 or so and hit the stadium a little early to take it all in.

I like parking on East MLK
There is free parking around the cemetery across from Disch-Falk Field. It’s only about ten minutes or so away from the stadium.
