Injury Update
Texas defensive end Brian Orakpo will miss Saturday's game against Baylor as he recovers from a sprained left knee.
Orakpo sustained the injury in the third quarter of the Longhorns' loss at Texas Tech last week. The semifinalist for the Lombardi Award leads the Longhorns with nine sacks, 15 tackles for losses and 23 quarterback hurries. Sophomore Sam Acho will start in his place.
Texas trainer Kenny Boyd also said that part-time starting cornerback Chykie Brown (left ankle) and punter Trevor Gerland (left knee) also will miss Saturday's game. Wide receiver Quan Cosby is listed as probable as he recovers from a back injury sustained against Texas Tech.
Does anybody here know how bad a sprained knee can be? Is it a lingering pain that makes it so you cannot run? And does anyone have any further information on Quan Cosby? What kind of back injury is it?
Thanks,
Mark

my knee
my knee is currently sprained. When I plant my leg in certain ways I get stabs of pain shooting from my knee, and kind of a nasty pulling feeling. You can run/walk no problem, but trying to make any kind of cuts is risky/painful.
I play a lot of basketball but until my knee gets better, I feel too tentative to play.
However I’m no scholarship athlete, and sprains range in levels of severity I’d guess.
You cant be too careful with knees.
um...does ur front leg bone (tibia) move deviate towards front or back?
if it is…you might want to get that checked out..

Here you go: knee sprains.
From what I read, Rak didn’t have any tears in his ligaments – ACL or MCL. That makes for a fairly simple rehab, noted in the citation.
Whither Eddie Jones?
The guy was one of the top recruits in his class, so I would have expected him to be the guy to step in for Rak today. Is he another late bloomer in the Kindle mode? Injured? Dreaded recruiting bust? I’ve only been able to watch one game this season (Missouri) so I have no idea how much he’s contributed on the line this season. I assumed he’d be the starting DE in 2009, but that doesn’t look to be the case any longer.

Is an excuse for missing games. Come on soldier.
Perhaps the most recognizable mascot in sports, and certainly the toughest looking, Bevo is a fixture

Eddie Jones
should start the next two years as a power DE when Melton leaves. Sam Acho is probably a better pass rusher.
