WE THE PEOPLE HAVE THE POWER!

WHY IS IT THAT IN A YEAR WHEN THIS COUNTRY VOTED FOR A CHANGE IN ITS POLITICAL LEADERSHIP THAT THE LEADERSHIP THAT GOVERNS OUR SCHOOLS CONTINUE TO REFUSE  TO PAY ATTENETION TO WHAT WE AS A WHOLE WANT FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL?  WHAT IS BEST FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL AND OUR NATION!  THE SYSTEM THAT IS CURRENTLY IN PLACE IS TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY FLAWED!

Star-divide

THE BCS COLLEGE FOOTBALL DIVISION IS A JOKE OF A SYSTEM THAT HIDES BEHIND WHAT THEY SAY IS BEST FOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL, WHEN IN ALL REALITY THEY ARE SCARED THAT THE POWER THEY HAVE AS POWER CONFERENCES WILL BE TAKEN AWAY FROM THEM.  YOU KNOW WHAT?  THEY ARE RIGHT!  IT WILL BE AND SHOULD BE AND WE HAVE THE POWER TO DO IT.  WE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT BUY THE MERCHANDISE, SEASON TICKETS, WATCH THE GAMES AND OH YA GIVE MILLIONS IN DONATIONS TO THESE INSTITUTIONS.  WHEN IF A BCS PLAYOFF SYSTEM WERE TO BE PUT INTO PLACE. THERE WOULD BE TONS MORE MONEY FOR ALL THE ATHLETIC PROGRAMS TO GET BETTER EQUIPMENT, FACILITIES AND EDUCATIONIAL PROGRAMS SUCH AS BETTER TUTORS AND MORE SCHOLARSHIP MONEY TO TRY AND HELP THESE KIDS HOPEFULLY GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE.  AFTER ALL THESE ARE STUDENT ATHLETES!   THE GRADUATION RATE OF THESE ATHLETES ARE A JOKE.  AT THE RATE THEY GRADUATE ALL THIS SYSTEM SHOWS IS THAT THE COACHES KEEP GETTING RICHER AND THE RICH ALUMNI KEEP GETTING ENTERTAINED BY THE GLOURIOUS VICTORIES THAT THESE KIDS GIVE THEM ON SATURDAYS.

PEOPLE WHAT IS IT WE WANT?  WE WANT A PLAYOFF SYSTEM THAT WILL ENTERTAIN, AND GIVE GLORY TO OUR SCHOOLS THAT WE LOVE AND CARE ABOUT SO MUCH.  WE WANT  A SYSTEM THAT IS FAIR AND ALLOWS THE KIDS TO IMPROVE DURING THE SEASON.  AFTER ALL THAT IS WHAT COLLEGE IS ABOUT.  IMPROVING OURSELVES!  THEY WANT TO KEEP THE SYSTEM IN PLACE TO KEEP THE POWER THEY CURRENTLY HAVE AND TO KEEP LINING THEIR POCKETS!  LETS GIVE THEM BOTH!

8 CONFERENCES. 12 TEAMS EACH CONFERENCE. 2 DIVISIONS IN EACH CONFERENCE.  THESE CONFERENCES STAY IN TACT 1.ACC, 2. BIG 10 ,3. BIG 12, 4. BIG EAST, 5. CONFERENCE USA, 6.MOUNTAIN WEST, 7. PAC-10, 8. SEC.  LET THESE CONFERENCES INVITE AND PICK THEIR SCHOOLS ON WHO WILL REPRESENT THEM DURING THE SEASONS.  EVERY DIVISION HAS A CHAMPION AND THE DIVISION CHAMPIONS HAVE A CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.  EVERY SCHOOL PLAYS 8 CONFERENCE GAMES 5 DIVISION GAMES AND 3 FROM THE OTHER DIVISION. CHANGING THE TEAMS THEY PLAY EVERY 2 YEARS.  THE 8 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS GET AUTOMATIC BIDS INTO THE PLAYOFFS!  THEN THE BCS SYSTEM PICKS THE NEXT 8!  ALL THE GAMES ARE ON A NUETRAL PLAYING FIELD.  ROSE BOWL, FIESTA BOWL, COTTON BOWL, SUGAR BOWL, ORANGE BOWL, CAPITAL ONE BOWL AND THE OUTBACK BOWL EACH WILL HOST THE QUARTER-FINALS, SEMI-FINALS AND CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES.  THE 1ST ROUND WILL BE PLAYED IN THE SUN BOWL, GATOR BOWL, HOLIDAY BOWL, CHAMPS SPORTS BOWL, ALAMO BOWL, MUSIC CITY BOWL, INDEPENDENCE BOWL AND THE LIBERTY BOWL.

THIS KEEPS BOWL GAMES IN THESE CITIES SO THE CITIES WILL BE HAPPY BECAUSE THEY WILL CONTINUE TO GET TOURIST DOLLARS INTO THEIR CITIES.  TO BE HONEST THEY WILL BE JUMPING WITH JOY!  THE TOURIST DOLLARS WILL GO UP HOTELS WILL BE FILLED, STORES WILL BE SHOPPED AND EATING ESTABLISHMENTS WILL BE PACKED!  MONEY WILL BE SPENT TO HELP STIMULATE THESE LOCAL BUSINESSES.  WHICH IS WHAT GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY!  THESE TOWNS WILL ALSO WANT TO HOLD ON TO THESE PLAYOFF GAMES THE WILL WANT TO IMPROVE THEIR ROADS AND DOWNTOWNS WHICH WILL CREATE JOBS.  INCREASING THE TAX REVENUES OF THESE CITIES. LETS NOT FORGET HOW THIS WILL EFFECT THE TELEVISION INDUSTRY AS WELL.  ADVERTISERS WILL GET MORE BANG FOR THEIR BUCK.  MORE PEOPLE WILL WATCH THESE GAMES THAT MIGHT NOT HAVE WATCHED THEM BEFORE.  TELEVISION STATIONS CAN CHARGE MORE FOR COMMERCIALS DUE TO HIGHER TELEVISION RATINGS.  MORE MONEY WILL BE SPENT ON PRODUCING THESE COMMERCIALS.  ALL OF THIS LEADS TO THE NCAA BEING ABLE TO CHARGE THESE NETWORKS MORE MONEY TO TELEVISE THESE GAMES WHICH IN TURN WILL PUT MORE MONEY INTO THE NCAA.  MORE MONEY WILL GO TO THESE SCHOOLS WHICH WILL HELP THE STUDENTS!

PEOPLE WE HAVE THE POWER!  IVE SAID IT ONCE ILL SAY IT AGAIN.  WE BUY THE MERCHANDISE, WE WATCH THE GAMES ON TV BUY THE SEASON TICKETS AND DONATE THE MONEY TO THE SCHOOLS.  SO LETS THINK ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT WE WANT TO BUY THAT JERSEY, SPEND OUR MONEY WITH THOSE ADVERTISERS AND THINK TWICE ABOUT WRITING THAT LARGE CHECK UNTIL OUR VOICE IS HEARD!

DUDE

I cant read your posts because of the ridiculousness of your ALL CAPS makes my eyes hurt and I have to turn away.

I have it on authority from an LSU booster that Les Miles is, in fact, illiterate.

As to whether I need boxing gloves, I fear no man who has been outwitted by a keyboard.

Some helpful reading

“On Internet chat systems, forums and Usenet, typing a sentence in all capitals is considered rude, the large letters akin to shouting or yelling within the social context. On a more practical level, text written in all capital letters, a result of engaging the caps lock, may be difficult to read.1 The ‘Caps Lock Theory’, is often referred to in Internet chat forums and states that there is an inverse relationship between a person’s use of the caps lock and their knowledge of a particular subject.”

Lawyering note

when drafting contracts, it’s typical to put dealbreaker clauses into paragraphs written in all-caps and small font because people wont read it

Funny thing is...

Putting something in all caps is considered conspicuous notice by most courts.

I've said it over and over

and over. I am blue in the face from saying it…….the real reason there is no playoff is because the NCAA is getting exactly what they want with the BCS – passionate discussion and rankings ALL YEAR LONG. Think about it – after the Super Bowl, the talk and passion takes a serious nosedive. After March Madness, who talks about college basketball. Quick…..who won the title last year??? You had to think for a minute, right?

College football and the BCS gets fans and the networks and internet sites talking about college football ALL YEAR LONG. We argue for one team, we argue against one team, we argue about why this or why that. We all have opinions on whether a playoff should be Plus-One, four team, eight teams or 16 teams.

We keep the spotlight on college football ALL YEAR LONG…..so you spend more money. Buying magazines, subscriptions to internet sites, fan apparel, and on and on.

The NCAA tried hiding behind the time factor (away from studies too long) but we all realized that was bogus when you look at basketball. They said the sanctity of the bowl games and traditions – that was bogus when we realized you could keep the bowl games intact and then rotate the “playoffs” from bowl to bowl. They don’t think fans would travel from location to location, across the country, to follow their team. That’s plain crazy – when you have fanbases spread across the country, fans will travel. Besides the home city/metro area will buy tickets too – it’s not a game just for the team’s fanbase.

We still argue about Ohio State’s pathetic performances, we talk about Nebraska making to the championship when they didn’t play in the conference championship, we talk about Boise over OU, West Virginia over OU, USC over OU (see a pattern with OU?!?!), we talk about Ball St, Utah, and Boise.

Are you picking up what I’m laying down?? More discussion…..more passion…..ALL YEAR LONG.

Many, if not all browsers allow you to scale text.

In firefox the shortcut is to hold control and then mouse wheel.

So sorry, not an excuse.

by BoddickerIsClutch on Dec 1, 2008 1:26 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Scaling keys

Ctrl and Mouse Wheel in Internet Explorer
Ctrl and Mouse Wheel in Chrome
Ctrl and Mouse Wheel in Opera
Ctrl and Mouse Wheel in Firefox
Ctrl and Mouse Wheel in Avant (IIRC)
I don’t use Linx, but imagine it’s the same.
I don’t use Safari, but someone will probably tell you if you need it.

Cut the attitude. It’s not an excuse because many of us have visually impaired/disabled friends and family who are avid internet users. We don’t read anything in all caps from them.

Exactly what was in my head when I read that.

To be fair...

…I posted this comment when I assumed that the “HOW DARE YOU” post was from the original poster. +1 to TheElusiveShadow for fooling me!

ok people.

It has been fixed. Do not sink down to a OU fans level. It was brought to my attention what to do and as you can tell i have fixed it. Thanks to that individual. Read the message. If you agree or dont. I dont care! Read or dont that is fine. Just show more class than the other individuals that have posted stuff. Thanks!

by LEMILES on Dec 1, 2008 3:02 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Sorry man

Some of us were just joking with you.

If you have a vision disability and simply did not know about scaling texts, that’s fine. Nobody got hurt. I’m not offended by caps locks. If you hang out here long enough, you know that we love to joke about ridiculous things like grammar, spelling, etc.

And have we ever needed some ridiculous things to joke about

This place has been wound too tight lately.
