Did Mack's vote really matter?
I'm not an expert on how the numbers are calculated, so I'm going to ask the likes of billyzane and company: If Mack voted Texas #1 and left OU off, or if he put them #25, would it have changed anything? Can somebody figure this out?
Like I've said here before, I'm glad he DIDN'T do that. It would have been dishonest and be against everything he stands for. However, so many people are bringing this point up that I just want to know if it would have even mattered. If not, then we can put this matter to rest. If so, then OU fans can never say Mack Brown is classless.

Mack’s vote in and of itself could not have made up the difference. Would have still been like .0085 behind.

I wouldn't think he would do that
However, the fact that he chose to go on during the Bedlam game and politic like he did was a little classes. I am not saying Brown is classes but that move was. Stoops was offered the chance to go on during the Texas/Texas A&M game but he passed because he thought it would be inappropriate. If Stoops had gone on during your guy’s game, some of you would have been screaming for him to go away and that was classes to do that during your game or am I way off base assuming that?
Again, I am not saying either coach is classless or has more class than the other.

Okay, that does it
Jubanator, you’re in trouble now. How dare you say my coach amounts to my classes, which I hate to go to.

I noticed that Stoops did not decline
to sit down at the end of the OSU game with the talking heads and make his case for OU on national TV. I think this was the network’s version of ‘equal time’ to be fair because they had interviewed Mack earlier. Except Bob’s discussion seemed like it went on for hours…may have actually been less, I had to go and vomit a few times.

Yet you're criticizing him for
“politic[ing] like he did.” Tell me, how did he politic? And in what way was he classes?

He sort of had to go on...
UT had played the earlier game and he didn’t want voters to vote purely on emotion like last week when they only saw OU play and they thought it was the bee’s-knees.
He had to remind voters (who aren’t the smartest folk) that UT has a football program. Because as we all know, they forgot anything that happens in the past.

Can you blame Stoops though
for sitting down after his game and taking the interview? What else would he say “Sorry guys I can’t talk because you’ll probably ask me about the tie-breaker or losing to Texas back in October and I want to appear classy instead.” I can’t fault the guy for giving his case when asked about it especially right after he won his game. I can’t stand him but if you win your game then you have a right to talk about the win or how your guys played.

What I don't get is how you spelled it wrong 2/3 of the time.
Do you copy and paste to save time or are the rumors about Sooner education true?

I just type a lot and type pretty fast most of the time. Usually when you reread your own work your brain fills in the words you meant to put instead of what it actually says.

Bob Stoops was offered time during the atm game...
but we were spared his inability to master the English language and the constant, painful look of constipation that occupies his face 24/7….

not classless
Mack just knew his team was going to get screwed by a team they beat by 10 points on a neutral field. He was trying to do everything he could to help voters make the right decision.

65 points
I had the same questions and did the math.
It would have taken a 65 point swing in the coaches poll to make a difference in the result. Doing what you suggested would only provide a 23 or 24 point swing, depending on how Mack had ranked Texas and OU.

Maybe I misheard this
but I saw on ESPN that Mack didn’t vote for Texas AT ALL. But Brad Edwards said it wouldn’t have made a difference.

Neither Brown or Stoops are classless
BCS= politics. To be a head coach, in this situation you have to do the political dance. Now maybe part of the dance is to say, “im not dancing.”

What do you guys think of this article
From the Star-Telegram basically saying Mack Brown and Texas should have just let their play on the field do the talking instead of “whining” (his word not mine) that they did with the plane and flyers and Mack calling in.

ya he said
that colt was still quarterbacking in the 4th quarter…um the first drive?
look at the words he uses about texas: myopic Texas fans, The Oklahoma Sooners argued their case eloquently, called arkansas a cream puff(yes they arent that good but beat the big bad lsu tigers),
really one sided dont see his logic much. mack showed up twice(that ive seen) and wasnt wearing a 45-35 shirt to them. if he was ‘politicking’ to a point of being classless then colt WOULD have been quarterbacking in the 4th quarter in every game. texas would have a #1 vote and ou woulda been left off ballot, dont like it even if i wasnt biased.

Mack and Stoops
Overall Mack and Stoops were presenting their team to the media in about the same professional manner. Of course they each presented a viewpoint and angle that would highlight their team. I would expect nothing less. I never saw anything from either of the two that would be considered classless or a low blow. The media is asking them to comment on the situation and they have to say something, even just to say that they won’t say anything and then continue on with two points why their team should be ranked higher.
One classless behavior that I did see was the jumping around of the OU coaching staff (with upside down Horns)in the background of the after game on-field interview last weekend. These coaches need to be talked to.
OARN, can somebody help OU come up with their own hand symbol so that they don’t have to stoop to abusing someone elses. Maybe they’re just not creative enough to come up with their own.
