Jamarkus McFarland: It's OU and Texas ($)
Despite his visit to USC recently, McFarland confirmed in a rare interview that it's still OU and Texas atop his list. He likes the college atmosphere of Norman and his OU recruiter Jackie Shipp, but recognizes that he would likely play sooner at Texas. Shipp is visiting McFarland in-home today, while Mack Brown will likely visit him at his home on Friday (although he doesn't know which coaches are supposed to visit him that day). McFarland hopes to announce his decision before the Army All-American game on January 3, but Orangebloods is speculating that the announcement could come this week.

Hey Jamarkus
I would just like to remind you that we have Muschamp. We have no depth at DT. We put a DT into the NFL every freakin’ year.
And OU sucks.

Second sentance
Play earlier at Texas.
That other word just doesn’t sound right next before “at Texas.”

I think he got it just right
He’ll play Longhorn if he chooses OU, and he’ll play sooner if he chooses Texas. Given the relative strength of the offenses, I’d much rather be up against sooner.

i hope you mean up against sooner next year… because it’s pretty hard to justify their oline not being lightyears beyond ours this year.

Damn
Terrible grammar there, started to write it as next to, and deleted the to but not the next as well.

"college atmosphere of Norman"
Is he referring to the atmosphere of the Big Red Car Dealership or Norman?

ha!
He’s referring to Norman, saying it’s more focused because it’s just a college town. I guess he’s saying there’s nothing more than the university there, unlike Austin. Kind of a strange explanation and probably won’t really factor in his decision that much.

This kid is special
I don’t see him being a Terrel Pryor/Ryan Perriloux type kid that is going to string out his commitment for as much media attention as possible. When he decides, he will be set on where he is going. Hopefully we’ll know by the Army All-American game.
I really want this kid. Somebody should like up that excellent NY Times article on him.

Unfortunately he visited us during the Baylor fan-catastrophe of ’08. The funeral-like mood at that game is probably distorting his image of our “atmosphere.”
I think he’ll go to OU. Ketchum has already downgraded him to #6 (from #1) on his Lone Star Recruiting list. I think Ketchum poo-pooing his abilities indicates that he will not be going to Texas more than anything Jamarkus says.

I think Ketchum's move has more to do
with some of the other players rising quickly on the list. In other words, Ketchum isn’t moving McFarland down because he sees something from McFarland that he doesn’t like, but rather he is seeing big things from other players that deserve recognition.

Moved McFarland down due to a disappointing season.
That was his reason. I have no idea how valid that is.
On a somewhat related note, it has been funny watching guys that Texas started recruiting really late suddenly jump from unranked to a top state recruit each of the last 3 years. Acho, DJ Grant and now Mims.

Didnt he also attend the Texas - OU game
but as an OU recruit?
That was a complete 180 from the Baylor library atmosphere.

well if history has taught us anything, it is that its pretty late in the year to get if any a top prospect.
I see that on the 23rd of jan. Jarvis Jones and Dre Kirkpatrick are in town.

Way back in.....
…..the summer of 2007, McFarland told the newspapers and recruiting services that he would not be making his decision until signing day. Why the heck fans can’t seem to understand the English language is beyond me. He was fair with everyone. He’ll announce his decision and then we’ll know.
