Open Thread: Texas State at #6 Texas
Texas State (3-4) at #6 Texas (7-1)

TV: Fox Sports Southwest (in Texas) & ESPN Game Plan
Due to work, I won't be around for this one. Post game thoughts on Sunday.
A few things to look for:
1) Connor Atchley--this game is an opportunity for Connor to be more involved in the offense, to dominate the glass against an inferior opponent, and regain some lost confidence.
2) Clint Chapman--his emergence is now even more important with the loss of Alexis Wangmene for the year.
3) Sink Free Throws--this game shouldn't be close but 58% as a team is unacceptable and must improve to win the Big XII and in March.
4) Be efficient on offense--Texas State is one of the worst defensive teams in the country having given up over 100 points in two losses. However, they have also scored over 100 points in two of their three wins. For this game to be close, Texas State must force a quick tempo and create Longhorn turnovers. For Texas to win easily, the 'Horns need to play in control, take advantage of fast-break opportunities, and, most importantly, take quality shots.

I just woke up
what in the world is going on here?
How many fans are in attendance? The Rice game was pretty close for awhile too. I wonder how much the crowd energy has to do with that.
Look for us to pull out in the 2nd half either way.
Brett Benson is carrying them.

FT shooting once again a thorn
Just 8-15 from the line. Johnson and James are both 1-4. This is just terrible and will probably haunt us all season.

Lots of close games/upsets
Tenn about to lose; tOSU up 2 with 1 minute left; Louisville up 2 at the half
Awiggos 4 keys
1. Connor – Fail. There was one point his man shot faked he turned to look for the rebound and his man still had the ball.
2. Chapman – Fail. Chappy gets in the game, throws the ball away, the resulting fast break sees Chappy get the cheap foul and he is on the bench in 30 seconds.
3. Free throws – Fail. What’s new?
4. Offense – Push. AJ 4-4 behind the arc. Texas with a fast start. Nothing much after that.
Dex played well, but as usual got into foul trouble. Ward/Balbay played pretty well and provided nice defense. We need to see more efficient James and Mason. Also, for the love of God big men, finish from inside 4 feet. Enough already.

Crap James to the line
Our team FT% is bad, but James/Johnson singlehandedly are the reasons for that. They’ve combined for ALL our misses except for 1 by AJ
James misses another one. If I’m Texas State, hack a James/Johnson?

i thought he shot pretty well last yr…

When everyone is colapsing on one player
it makes it much easier to rebound on offense. If you dont have to help it is much easier to block out.
FT this year .654
FT last year .569

KU loses at home by a point to UMASS
what a day for the A-10 conference.
Sherron Collins shot 6-21 and KU was just 5-24 from three.
Looks like the only ranked teams in conference this year will be us, OU, and Baylor. Thank God for our non-conference schedule.

Didn't get to watch the game.
I am kinda shocked at the final score, and don’t really feel like reading all 140 some odd comments to find out what the hell happened in this game. Someone want to wrap it up in one post on why the score was so close?
We didn't guard well
Gave up too many easy scores. And we missed FTs. Bad shooting games from Connor, Johnson, Mason, Balbay, Hill, and Ward.
