Dex crampin

Barnes bitching out Connor. "ARE YOU GOING TO PLAY LIKE A MAN!?

Watching on ESPN360.com

I’m at my girlfriend’s parent’s house and I think I’m one of like six people in the country who has gotten ESPN360 to work.

i’m trying it right now and i agree, it’s being slow and laggy. and i normally have it work fine.

i'll be number 5 or 7 then..

its really really behind sometimes which is frustrating..

by jacobb23 on Dec 23, 2008 8:45 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Could not agree more

I’m not even that impressed with his ability to ballhandle and find players without the turnovers. Someone asked last game what does he bring to the party? I’m still confused.

by Texfiter on Dec 23, 2008 8:59 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nice early lead

It’s not very loud as expected in this arena because everyone is out for the holidays. Still louder than Erwin Center.

Kinda surprised Dickie V would be doing this game.

Johnson once again playing like a man. I want him to start.

by goingforthecorner on Dec 23, 2008 8:50 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

James bricks another three

I really wish we could get him out of there and in midrange or the paint where he belongs. Him shooting threes is more like he wants to impress NBA scouts.

Connor is active today so far. I think Barnes getting in his face might be working.

by goingforthecorner on Dec 23, 2008 8:52 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

we cant match three for three..

only abrams is consistant enough, everybody on the floor can hit em for WISC…

17-16 Texas, tv timeout

I’m like two minutes behind the tv.

I doubt we’ll see Balbay much the rest of this game. Abrams hot early and moving nicely without the ball.

Dex

Has gone from novelty to legitimate threat. I love how Barnes is slowly bringing him along.

by 40AS on Dec 23, 2008 8:57 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

What a manly rebound by Pittman

Then scores the easy 2. He is a man amongst boys. REAL good matchup against Wisconsin because they play slow.

Don’t be surprised if Pittman has the best game of his life today. Bohannon has NO chance at stopping him down low.

He hasn’t delivered on his potential yet, but he’s still young

Nice play there

Screen and roll, Connor cuts to the basket and gets FTs.

by goingforthecorner on Dec 23, 2008 8:59 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Bad turnover

It’s going to kill us in this game.

We’re more athletic than them, we need to take advantage of it. Don’t keep James on the perimeter. Barnes is bitching at him right now.

by goingforthecorner on Dec 23, 2008 9:01 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

hate to be negative so early

but this team lacks a heart and true leader.

by Texfiter on Dec 23, 2008 9:01 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

More like a true leader

Coming in, we knew there’d be a hole there. No one has really filled it and not much synergy has developed.

by whills on Dec 23, 2008 9:02 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'm not sure about the heart yet...

but I do agree that they do not have a leader.

by Texfiter on Dec 23, 2008 9:06 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

We can destroy this team on the boards

This may sound harsh, but I liked the James last year at this time more than this year. I miss the rebounding machine. If he’s stuck on the perimeter, he won’t get offensive rebounds.

25-21 Wisc, under 8

Turnovers and lazy defense hurting early.

Atch and Pitt both with 2 early fouls.

TCU just closed to 13-10.

This is their second good drive of the second half but the first stalled out just beyond their field goal range. Boise missed a field goal.

TCU has 367 yards total offense to Boise State’s 194.

Just keeping up via ESPN gamecard. Viewers might have more.

by whills on Dec 23, 2008 9:28 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

TCU has been up and down the field,

a couple of stupid turnovers all that’s kept Boise in it. Boise done nothing on offense since the 1st quarter. That ginger QB for TCU drives me nuts.

by ctex80 on Dec 23, 2008 9:30 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

39-37 Horns at half

Turnovers and fouls—not a good recipe for a road win.

AJ really nice shooting and passing on the overplay. Pittman dominant in his limited minutes. James decent as well other than the turnovers.

Mason appears hesitant to shoot the ball and afraid to foul on defense. I wonder if he is playing less physical on defense because Texas can’t afford to have him sit.

Last, I’m not sure why Texas is collapsing when Wisconsin has the ball in the post. They are leaving three-point shooters like Bohannan wide open. I’d much rather make the Wisconsin bigs beat Pittman and Gary and Connor straight up than give up an open look from three.

--AW--

by awiggo on Dec 23, 2008 9:30 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think the cut Mason suffered

had a lot to do with his sudden hesitancy. I heard he couldn’t even see out of one eye, and yet we had him shooting bombs at the end of the last game. Ugh…

by goingforthecorner on Dec 23, 2008 9:33 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

mason needs to do that more often.

and connor needs to go back to how he was shooting the ball last year.

by jacobb23 on Dec 23, 2008 9:47 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

there it is again,

like dj last year, when mason drives, we get either fouls or good opportunities. Keep it up Mason!

losing to wisconsin

its like losing on elementary school field day. the accent of every native in that state convinces you that at least youve won as long as you are still living.
its cute and all, but as soon as you come home, you know that youve lost.
lets not lose to elementary school principals.

This year college basketball is really watered down

At first I wanted to say that we’re not a top 10 team considering how many games we’ve struggled in this year, but in reality 10-15 is where we belong because other than UNC, there are no great teams out there. This year is really pedestrian.

Ward hesitated on TWO open threes

this is just awful. Not having another reliable shooter next to AJ is going to kill us all season. It’s probably one of the reasons why we have James shooting threes when he shouldn’t be there. I wish Connor could find his shot again. We really need that.

Man I love Balbay's hustle

He can’t shoot, but he’s everywhere. Unfortunately between him, Ward, and Mason, we have too many of these players and not enough shooters.

Another poorly run play for Abrams

Almost like the Notre Dame game. I think we have better athletes than them but we’re not taking advantage of it.

Will Barnes put Pittman back into the game? Foul trouble is meaningless at this point of the game.

WOO HOO

I feel much better.

Did you know Wisconsin is good at home? Not good enough today.

Johnson and James were clutch at the end. Love Balbay getting some time at the end. Everyone criticized his lack of shooting, but you can’t go wrong with another energy guy like him. He didn’t give us points directly, but he gave us free possessions.

by goingforthecorner on Dec 23, 2008 10:38 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Barnes interview on 74-69 win.

Good practice, good spunk. Turnovers hurt us. Wisconsin hard to guard, they stretch us out. Damion came up with big play. Johnson fine.

Our whole game plan was to disrupt their rhythm. Dogus was really good at it.

by whills on Dec 23, 2008 10:40 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

i couldn’t tell if they were stomping or if they were comparing shoe sizes

by Displaced Longhorn on Dec 23, 2008 10:47 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Doesn't matter ...

Whether they burned the Longhorn at the Erwin Center … programs like Texas are expected to behave at a higher level. I didn’t see what happened, only that Dick V. comment that whatever it was, it was unnecessary.

by Texfiter on Dec 23, 2008 11:03 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Yeah it was unnecessary

But if they stomped on our logo last year, then it’s completely understandable. They’ll get over it.

I think Barnes will give them a lecture or two about it either way.

by goingforthecorner on Dec 23, 2008 11:15 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

BTW that was a 12-5 run to close the game.

Just the confidence tonic this team needed.

by whills on Dec 23, 2008 10:43 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Great game, great win

I would never have imagined it would be Abrams, Mason, Balbay, Johnson, and James down the stretch. But as Rummy says, you fight with the army you have.

Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. If they get mad, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes.
