Texas Gets Another Year from McCoy
Texas is lucky in my mind. To have quarterback Colt McCoy return is a huge boost to their hopes next season. As the Mack Brown era continues to wind down, I'd really like to see the man win another national title, and with McCoy at the helm, it's definately possible. He has the opportunity to probably be a first rounder in the upcoming NFL draft, but, assuming he stays healthy, McCoy will be a solid first round option for any team in the NFL in need of a franchise QB. Personally, I'm glad to see McCoy come back, I just worry about his risk of injury. I really don't think it will be an issue, especially with McCoy's scrambling ability, but I'd hate to see his draft stock plummet because of a knee. For now though, hook 'em Horns. Maybe the BCS won't screw us over next year.

Not a for sure
You are right afhook08 – he will test the waters. If he is told a definitive first rounder, I think he goes. I dio not think he will get that right now – more likely a second or third round now. The issue will be how high in second round as he stated both.
I am hopeful that a trusted advisor tells him to come back in 2009, put on some more weight and bulk and work on specific skills that will lead to a first round choice in 2010.
HOWEVER, after saying all that, if Colt wins the Heisman, that may be the thing that pushes him over to the pros – his coming back in 2009 would be for a NC.

One problem..
Senior QB’s.. Hunter Cantwell, Bomar, Cullen Harper. I’m no draft guru, but you don’t have to be Mel Kiper Jr. to realize there is not much QB depth in the upcoming draft. If Stafford, Bradford and Tebow all stay in school, then Colt could be looking at a 1st/2nd round selection easily.

If that's the case, I expect to see Bradford jump ship this year.

Mock Draft Sites
I know it is all projections, and a million things could happen between now and the draft, but most “experts” predict Bradford to be a top 10 pick.
Personally, I hope he stays, I want Texas to destroy OU with Bradford behind center.

If he does leave:
Does that leave us playing against Halzle in the Cotton Bowl next year? Or do they have another QB?

Hazle is a senior.
John Nimmo, So.
Ben Sherrard, Fr.
Landry Jones

Jones is also a freshman.

Jones
was a pretty decent recruit from New Mexico (sounds weird, right?), 4 star on Rivals. Bradford is a redshirt sophmore so he is eligible to enter the draft.

If he goes
John Chiles as starter with Gilbert playing as a freshman – YUK.
Am really hoping that Colt will be a senior that mentors a redshirt freshman Gilbert like Vince did for Colt.
If not, 2009 could be a problem. I do not trust John at QB – however, the problem he faced was coming into games and not being able to run the offense like Colt could – i.e., pass on 2nd and 7 versus run.

Never say never but...
do you honestly think NFL teams will think of Colt as a franchise quarterback?
Teams don’t draft QBs in 1st or 2nd rounds unless he will be a definite franchise quarterback.
No doubt colt has been playing phenomenal this year, but he lacks size and arm strength for NFL teams to consider him to be a starter for many years.
If he enters the draft, I see him go 3-5th round

Colt
His arm strength is a bit underrated, he doesn’t have the strength of Stafford, but I think his accuracy makes up for that. They list him at 6-3, he would probably measure 6-2 at the combine, I wouldn’t consider that undersized at all. Plus, he has great mobility which most NFL teams covet in their qbs now.

Yeah
I’ve always seen him more as a John Elway. He’s not known for throwing the deep ball, but he rifles the 15-yard passes like nobody else, and he seems to lead a lot of come-backs.

Colt will go in round 3-4 if he goes this year
QB depth or not, most teams pick rounds 1-2 based on overall potential, not by position. Colt hasn’t proved yet that he can throw a consistently good deep ball because GD just doesn’t try those plays much. He would be a definite gamble as a franchise QB. Colt’s main attribute is his accuracy, toughness, gamesmanship and mobility. He would most likely to go to a team running a West Coast offense (maybe Seattle or Philadelphia) where accuracy is paramount and deep balls are irrelevant. Anyone who tells Colt that he is a first round or early second round pick is blowing smoke of a major kind.

The only way Colt goes
is if Mizzou takes care of OU which would be a virtual lock for Colt and the Heisman and then he goes on to beat the SEC champ. His draft stock would absolutely skyrocket. If we get the Fiesta then it’s pretty much a 99.9% chance that he comes back next year.
