BCS vs. Playoffs vs. The Regular Season
Give
Given the circumstances of this year's college football debate, and how no one can come to a clear conculsion, tons of fans have been clamoring for a playoff system. Based on the reaction of the commisioners who make up the BCS, got me thinking a little bit. When asked about a playoff system instead of the BCS, the commisioners response is, "We feel as if it would diminish the importance of the regular season." So by the BCS picking Oklahoma over Texas, their in a sense saying that game, which occured during the regular season, didn't exist. They're just writing it our of the record books. Many fans of Tech will argue the same point in favor of them, but they've played their way out of it the last two weeks. Just a thought I'd like to stir up in the minds of the BON. Let me know what you think guys. In my mind this is the epitomy of diminishing the regular season.

There were other games in the regular season other than the Texas-OU game.
Just because someone values head-to-head results differently than you do doesn’t mean that they’re erasing it from the record books.
Of course it is.........
BZ: tech getting blown off the field and struggling against Baylor eliminated them from the Big 12 convo…agreed? So it is back to head to head. OU knows deep down inside they should not be there. We are all people. We know when we get away with something…and since Stoops has never mentioned the loss to UT, he knows it as well. The BCS did reduce the importance of the head to head which is mind boggling considering THIS is where they place the value and stance for not wanting a playoff…that and gobs of cashola.
If FL wins, we will have 7 one loss teams more than likely coupled with 2 non BCS undefeateds…which, btw, I think each of them could beat TOSU. This season is mess and they (the BCS morons) simply do not care.
I think their main point is that
shortened regular season is going to hurt a lot more schools. Think about it. The last 2-3 games usually involved big rivalries and games against good conference teams. Shortening a schedule also means premature development of teams as they’ll cram their schedules with hardest opponents for the pre-playoff rankings. Small schools will inevitably get screwed, as well as teams that start the beginning season with a loss. I honestly think the pre-playoff rankings will be just as bad as the BCS. Well, luckily not for us, but for all the non-perennial contenders.
