ACC Champ Game

The crowd is horrible…it looks like an old Dallas Burn game in the Cotton Bowl. I realize these teams are not that good and that Tampa Bay is a long way from Boston and Virginia, but this is ridiculous.

Three years in a row

The ACC might want to consider putting its championship game on a home field.

Prediction for tonight

Of course Florida will win narrowly.

And of course OU will win big.

And we’ll start getting excited about the “Florida not passing us scenario” coming true.

So we’ll get sucked into the now-crucial Cincinnati-Hawaii game, which for us on the East Coast, will begin at 11:30.

And of course it will be a four-hour marathon. And of course Hawaii will win in improbable fashion.

After last weekend, why expect any less torture?

Lake Travis vs. Killeen at DKR

If anyone wants to listen to how Garrett Gilbert plays: http://www.tsrnsports.com/Broadcast/Broad-Lake%20Travis.htm

Just click on the link to listen live next to the game listed against Killeen. If it doesn’t play then follow the direction in the link at the bottom of the page.

Getting towards the end of the 1st quarter. Lake Travis up 3 TDs. GG had a 25 yard run and a run that ended in a fumble. He started the game with something like 5/5 passing for 100+ yards with a TD pass. He’s passed 11,500 for his career today.

by HornPossessed on Dec 6, 2008 2:29 PM CST reply actions

gotta love the BCS

a 4 loss ACC champion will get in ahead of a one loss Tech.

by Hook'em13 on Dec 6, 2008 2:32 PM CST reply actions

They should just include a requirement...

…like they have for the open bids: Conference camps get an autospot in a bowl only IF the conference has three teams in the top 25. If not, conf. champs need to be ranked in the top 10, otherwise no go.

by Heart of a Muschampion on Dec 6, 2008 3:13 PM CST up reply actions

even bama fans hated him at one point.

45-35

by Hook'em13 on Dec 6, 2008 2:37 PM CST reply actions

Damn GG isn't having a very good first half.

2 INT (one was tipped) and a fumble at the start of the 2nd quarter. However, Lake Travis still leads 22-0 (not sure if Killeen has scored) and GG has almost 200 yards passing and a TD.

by HornPossessed on Dec 6, 2008 2:44 PM CST reply actions

Danielson said that

just as they were showing footage of JPW underthrowing his receiver. ;-)

by horndude on Dec 6, 2008 3:07 PM CST up reply actions

I liked the highlight to go with that.

It was 2 badly under thrown balls where one receiver had to pause (wide-open) and wait for it and the other made a great grab over the defenders back. JPW is awesome!

Why don't all of us at Burnt Orange Nation

resurrect the old UPI poll. We will pick 150 of the most active BON’rs and vote January 10th and declare our UPI champion. For those who remember pre-BCS, a split national champion used to be split between the AP champion and the UPI champion. Now, suggestions on what UPI should stand for? (can’t used the old one)

Our poll will only be on par with the Harris in terms of validity.

by shadyrock on Dec 6, 2008 3:09 PM CST reply actions

Garrett Gilbert just ran a TD in.

I believe the score is something like 36-3 towards the end of the 2nd quarter.

i’ll be the biggest Mizzou fans in my life(just for today). I’m thinking how should we thank and celebrate with the Tigers if they pull the upset today. May the football miracles goes upon them. Get a few TD on these looners’ defective special team. May the force be with Chase Daniel. Go Tigers!

God love the BCS....

It was designed to ensure the two best teams play for MNC…..There are really 5 possible candidates right now….if you choose to include USC from the very weak PAC 10.

Alabama
OU
Texas
Florida
USC
Since Texas and Oklahoma have played, and Florida and Alabama play tonite, and since USC really hasn’t played any top 5 team , we must eliminate them from this discussion.

So, according to the BCS, shouldn’t the loser of the FLA/ALA play OU for the MNC?

I'd rather you just say thank you and went on your way.

by gy2020 on Dec 6, 2008 3:48 PM CST up reply actions

Honest answer...

I have not followed Alabama’s performance thru last year and this year, but how much of their success is influenced by the “absence” of Major? I know the knee jerk reaction is that it is both unrelated, but is there no way that Major held the Tide back?

If Alabama loses, do they have an argument

that they belong in the MNC above Florida? I mean, look at their “body of work.” Why should a neutral field game count?

by the1austin on Dec 6, 2008 4:33 PM CST reply actions

So, I don't get it.

Bama and Florida are not very convincing as the top two teams in the country. Do their strengths cancel each other out?

up 14 to 7 in a super ugly game – two interceptions for Sanchez. USC is definitely not the powerhouse team they think they are. by shadyrock on Dec 6, 2008 6:29 PM CST reply actions

The announcers in the Florida game want to blow Tebow...

1. One of the best the game has ever seen
2. The best short-yardage running back in college football
3. A snake charmer
4. Someone who, if there was a draft for college football, would be everyone’s number one pick

During the game, the announcers called Tebow all of the above.

What did they call John Parker Wilson? The “Alabama Quarterback.”

At one point, they said, “This is really just Tim Tebow vs. the Alabama defense.”

And, my favorite, “Say what you want about McCoy and Bradford, but Tebow doesn’t get to throw against Big XXII defenses.” They’re right about that. He gets to play against Ole Miss.
