You could add a TCU egg in there too…

Great detail on the pic

You even have the correct order of eggs, with SC at the furthest back, Boise at middle, and WV in front

Gators will be unanimous #1 tomorrow in the polls, and this debate shall be moot. (or “mute” as my mom says, in which case, you couldn’t hear me…")

$5 (not really)

To anybody who can explain why even with a win over Bama Florida will jump UT in the polls. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Florida’s SOS is lower than Texas’ and Florida has a worse loss (at home to unranked team). Florida has three wins right now over top 25 teams including one win over a top 10 team. Texas has the same, but all three top 25 wins are over opponents ranked higher than Florida’s. Florida’s toughest four game stretch was South Carolina, Citadel (WTF) Florida State and Alabama. Texas’ was…I’m sure you know. Against common opponent Arkansas, Florida had a margin of 31 whilst Texas had 42. Granted our Arkansas game was at home versus Florida’s at Arkansas, but is that worth an 11 point differenetial against a weak team? Anyway, call me crazy bu I’m pulling for OU tonight because I believe there is a rematch possibility.

by UTexasCPA on Dec 6, 2008 6:49 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Objectivity says we should stay ahead

But unfortunately subjectivity rules the BCS, and the voters WILL make sure Florida is ranked above us.

by goingforthecorner on Dec 6, 2008 6:51 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

They just beat the #1 team

and voters will put them to the top

by GoHorns1 on Dec 6, 2008 6:51 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Silliness

That’d just be said given the two teams are pretty easily comparable in their schedules. People need to quit power polling at the end of the season, dangit!

by UTexasCPA on Dec 6, 2008 6:54 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

not certain...

A big OU win tonight could put them in the #1 spot and decrease the space between Texas and Florida in the human polls. That being said, i’ll be rooting hard for Mizzou tonight.

Craig James

by GoHorns1 on Dec 6, 2008 7:00 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Just stop

Florida’s in. I agree with your argument, CPA but FLA is in. We need Mizzou or it’s just a BCS bowl

by shadyrock on Dec 6, 2008 6:51 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

You're crazy

If OU loses, you’re in. If OU wins, you’re probably not in. (If OU wins huge, it’s possible that they would be a unanimous #1 and the computers might keep you ahead of Florida … but not likely.)

If you want to be in the title game, you are a Mizzou fan tonight.

by SpartanDan on Dec 6, 2008 6:53 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Don't forget

that off throwing hand injury to Bradford should cause +2 turnovers at the LOS during the game.

by UTexasCPA on Dec 6, 2008 6:55 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

fumbles moreso than turnovers

he could pick them up and run them in for td’s as we saw last week

by andmyster on Dec 6, 2008 6:57 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Good point SpartanDan

if OU wins, we should actually root for them to win in a huge blowout. We’d want them to get as many 1st place votes as possible from the Coaches and Harris guys, so Florida would be stuck with #2 votes at the highest.

by goingforthecorner on Dec 6, 2008 6:57 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

Media

I like what the media’s been saying lately about Colt and Texas getting the shaft.

by UTexasCPA on Dec 6, 2008 6:58 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

They were all rooting for us.

Because advocates of a playoff system believe what happens on the field should count. BCS supporters don’t think that’s the way it should be.

The real key powering OU offense is TO margin.

OU is +20 overall, +11 in November.
UT is +3 for the season.

What could we have done with 17 more TOs? hmmmmmm

So, for Mizzou, the real lucky key is getting TOs instead of making them. It’s that simple.

by whills on Dec 6, 2008 7:06 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

why couldn't we...

have snuck in Muschamp for mizzou, just for a coupla days this week…?

"When you get to the end zone, act like you've been there before."

by txex92 on Dec 6, 2008 7:07 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

The bad part

Is that Mizzou doesn’t seem like the team that likes to sustain long drives and eat the clock. We totally wore down OU’s defense and had a big advantage in TOP. I don’t think Mizzou is the type of team for that.

by andmyster on Dec 6, 2008 7:27 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

We would need twice the number of voters to flip this week than the number who flipped in a week of 45-35 attention. Ain’t gonna happen.

by Hopkins Horn on Dec 6, 2008 7:28 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

So I'm a bit confused

I’d been assuming all week that, if OU were to win, a OU blowout would make the “Florida doesn’t catch us” scenario likelier to happen.

But I just read bcsguru, and he makes the case that we’d be better served with a narrow OU win.

My head hurts after all this talk this week.

summary...

OU comes out strong, moving the ball at will on the first drive. Somehow their shanked field goal goes through.

Mizzou gets a few first downs but not moving the ball quite like OU. Short on a 48 yard field goal by inches.
